Director Adam Mason’s dark comedy “Junkie” was recently acquired by the boys and girls at Indiecan Entertainment. With a little assistance from FilmBuff, the movie will soon be available on a variety of different platforms. This is definitely good news for those of you who love savagely humorous films about drug addiction. Although I didn’t love his 2007 flick “The Devil’s Chair,” I really thought Mason’s 2010 endeavor “Pig” was entertaining. Since the guy is hit and miss in my book, “Junkie” could go either way. At least it stars Robert Lasardo. That dude is a beast. Here’s the official synopsis if you’re curious about such things: Co-written by Mason and Simon Boyes, this twisted darkly comedic tale of out-of-control addiction stars Daniel Louis Rivas as a man trying to go clean, and Robert Lasardo as his psychotic brother, who will do anything to stand in his way.

Harper Dearing may have been vanquished by Gibbs on last week's NCIS Season 10 premiere, but we learned tonight that the aftershocks of his campaign of terror continue to ripple through the agency.
The "Recovery" will not be short and sweet. Nor should we expect it to be.
With the emotional wounds of the bombing still omnipresent, most of this week's episode struck a somber tone. The team members each battled their issues in their individual ways, and it wasn't pretty.
At the same time, this installment was more about the characters than the case, which is when NCIS is at its best. It also revisited Abby's brother Kyle, a popular storyline introduced fleetingly last year.
The writers did a nice job of expounding upon Abby's relationship with Kyle, and of course with Gibbs, as a result of the traumatic blast. Sometimes, we learn the most about ourselves in the darkest of times.

Larry Miller is coming to NCIS next month for the show's Christmas-themed episode.
He'll be playing Ed Slater, the future father-in-law of Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen)!
“Jimmy Palmer is engaged. And with fiancée Breena comes spending the holidays with his future in-laws,” explains NCIS executive producer and show-runner Gary Glasberg to EW.
“We needed a curmudgeon with a sharp tongue and even sharper wit so we were thrilled when gifted actor/comedian Larry Miller expressed a desire to come on board as Ed Slater."
"The holidays wouldn’t be complete without some family tension and fans are certainly going to get some. They may even see a side of Jimmy dealing with Ed they never expected.”
A Palmer storyline should please many longtime fans of Ducky's medical examiner understudy, and the introduction of Breena's dad marks the latest in a long line of father figures.

Our official NCIS review broke down Tuesday's terrific episode in great detail.
Now, TV Fanatic staff members Steve Marsi, Matt Richenthal and Eric Hochberger gather for our weekly Round Table Q&A discussion. Join in below, as we analyze various aspects of the team's adventures ...

Best episode of the season so far?
Steve: They've all been good, but "Enemy on the Hill" was hard to top. Tony was at his best - both as an investigator and as comic relief - while Gibbs was the father figure Abby needed. Interesting case too.
Matt: After the season premiere, each of the next three weeks have featured one of the team members in a pretty heavy storyline. Gibbs, meanwhile, has increasingly been letting them take the lead. The overall direction of the season feels different in that sense, but in way that's been organic and enjoyable.

Comparing NCIS episodes can be a difficult task, since almost all of them range from very good to excellent, but this one definitely fell in the latter category. "Enemy on the Hill" had it all.
Dinozzo was at his clowning, and investigative best. He may want to lay off the caffeine for his health, but being even more wired than usual didn't hinder his ability to crack the case, or crack us up.
Serving as his foil or directly engaging him, McGee was by his side throughout. Ziva actually got to rough some people up. Gibbs, once again, served as the team leader in more ways than one.
Most significantly, Abby made a discovery that rocked her world, but warmed our hearts.
The fact that Abby would donate a kidney - not blood, not bone marrow, but a kidney - to a stranger just for the pure goodness of it somehow didn't surprise me.

If there's one thing that director Adam Mason (The Devil's Chair, Luster, Pig) is very, very, good at, it's exposing you to the darkest and most violent side of human nature to the point that no matter how hard you try, you just can't look away. If the latest stills from his new film Junkie are any indication of what's to come, it perfectly follows suit.
Believe it or not, even though this is the first time we are hearing about it (Mason is prolific and ultra-sneaky), the film has already wrapped principal photography and is now in post-production.
Long-time Mason collaborator Andrew Howard, Caroline Guivarch, Robert Lasardo, and Daniel Louis Rivas all star in this tale of addicts doing extremely horrific things. Look for more soon if you have the stomach for it.
Check out the stills below courtesy of Twitch Film, and hit up that link for a few more.

While I continue to read hilarious stories about Charlie Sheen and briefcase full of coke, now's probably a good time to tell you about Adam Mason's Junkie. The boys over at Twitch Film landed behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Mason's latest psychological mind-trip that stars Tess Panzer, Andrew Howard, Caroline Guivarch, Robert Lasardo, Daniel Louis Rivas and Tomas Boykin in a gritty, violent tale of addicts behaving badly. You can click the link for all of the bloody pics. Mason directed Blood River, The Devil's Chair, Pig and the forthcoming Luster. This film reteams him with regular Andrew Howard who can also be seen in the I Spit on Your Grave remake from Anchor Bay.

Every couple of months — Heck, every couple of days! — it seems like another nail is driven into the DVD’s plastic slip covered coffin, from major rental store chains going bankrupt to the cutting back of little red envelopes being mailed out. Someday it’s going to get to the point where you won’t even be able to get discs popping out of a little kiosk at the supermarket anymore.
We’re slowly being conditioned to think about movies as a disposable medium. Not as in you’re going to be throwing discs into the trash, but your memory of what you just watched is going to be disposed right out of your brain as the next movie streams right in.
But, if you’re a good cinephile you know that films are art and should be treated as such. (Well, make that they have the capacity to be art.

The legend goes that punk rocker Richard Havoc (Daniel Louis Rivas) was born at Altamont during the infamous 1969 Rolling Stones concert. Twenty-nine years later, at the height of his fame, he vanished. Documentary filmmaker Mark Clark (Raphael Nash Thompson) tracks Havoc to the California desert where he finds him hiding in an underground missile silo, holed up with Karen Kennedy (Frankie Shaw), the emotionally scarred former child star of the sitcom Why’s Daddy Acting Funny?, and hook-handed Travis Hook (Teddy Eck), the host of the pirate television program "Travis TV".

The rock apocalypse is finally upon us! The cult underground hit and Bad Lit’s 2008 Movie of the Year, Joshua von Brown’s Altamont Now, has finally been unleashed on DVD today! (Rent or Buy.) For anyone who ever believed that the ’60s were all about peace, love and understanding: Fuck you! The children of Altamont — a moment in time that embodied the true spirit of rock, anarchy and revolution — are here to recreate that rebellious era a thousand-fold.
Altamont Now delivers the unholy gospel of the true prophet of rock ‘n’ roll, Richard Havoc, played to maniacal perfection by Daniel Louis Rivas. Having shed his music television flavor-of-the-month image, Havoc has sequestered himself in a nuclear missile silo with his acolytes Karen Kennedy (Frankie Shaw) and Travis Hook (Teddy Eck). From this hidden location, Havoc plots to deliver the ultimate in generational warfare — a real live nuclear warhead aimed...

After winning prizes and praise at underground Film Festivals in Arizona, Atlanta and Denver, Joshua von Brown's "Altamont Now" is surfacing on DVD this Tuesday (you can order a copy here). To celebrate the occasion, Factory 25 has been gracious enough to stream the entire film on IFC.com all week.
The film is a discovery in more ways than one -- it claims to be a lost film that von Brown took from the clutches of a fellow filmmaker who documented a power-mad radical rocker named Richard Havoc leading a clueless band of revolutionaries (who call themselves the Cult of the Kids) to a missile silo. There, they dictate a new world order to America over their local public access channel and threaten to set off a nuclear device.
In reality, von Brown adapted David Bucci's play without ever seeing it staged, but really did find an abandoned silo to shoot the satire in,...
