Is one of 32 performers to have starred in both the original Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) (up to and including Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)) and then in three of the four spin off TV series.
Along with Majel Barrett, Clint Howard, Jack Donner and Vince Deadrick Sr., he was one of only five actors to appear in both Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001).
He had roles in four different "Star Trek" series: Star Trek: The Original Series (1966), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), Star Trek: Voyager (1995) and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001). Besides Majel Barrett, who has appeared all five "Star Trek" series, he was the only actor to appear in all four. Moreover, since Barrett only provided voice overs in the latter two series, he is the only actor to appear on screen in all four of the series in question.
He studied drama at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie-Mellon University, and began his acting career at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
In 1979 he became the first Western Regional Vice President of Actors Equity.
