He subdued a Selig Studios employee who shot to death producer / director
Francis Boggs and wounded
William Nicholas Selig on Oct. 27, 1911. The employee, a gardener, had a mental breakdown and ran through the executive offices armed with a revolver when he found Boggs and Selig in a production meeting. Santschi happened upon the man in a corridor. He wrestled the assailant to the floor, disarmed him and held him until police arrived.
