Kevin Costner is set to take on four different responsibilities this summer, as a director, co-writer, producer, and a leading star in his two-part theatrical franchise, Horizon: An American Saga. With the plot of the film series surrounding the American West during the Civil War period, Costner is once again set to appear in a Western drama.

Taylor Sheridan has had his hands full with two incredibly demanding shows. Both Yellowstone and the Mayor of Kingstown have some of the most talented actors and actresses. With the work and dedication that has gone into the making of the shows, there is no doubt that the fanbase is just as strong.
It takes a great amount of understanding to perfect shows and the characters within them, something that can be tampered with because of divided attention.
Taylor Sheridan created and acted in Yellowstone
To counter such a problem, there are many ways. Whether it goes to smaller levels such as focus exercises or simply vigorous practice. Sometimes, however, it can go so far as to leave one project for another.

Jeremy Renner has worked hard for some iconic movies in the early 2010s but his most iconic role was that of Hawkeye in the MCU. Portraying the superhero gave Renner his fame but it also kind of pigeon-holed him into a certain character.
When notable series creator Taylor Sheridan came up with a new series titled Mayor of Kingstown, Renner was considered for the lead role. The actor, however, revealed that he didn’t even read that much of the script and immediately said yes to Sheridan!

Taylor Sheridan has proven to be a more than capable writer when it comes to writing women in fiction, with Sicario and Wind River, starring Jeremy Renner, being two major examples. However, Season 1 of Mayor of Kingstown was been heavily dominated by men, but that isn’t to say there weren’t times when female characters were given their moments to shine.

Throughout the 2010s, Jeremy Renner’s career was mostly dictated by his stint in the MCU as Hawkeye, overshadowing some of his most acclaimed performances outside the cinematic giant. Fortunately, thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown, which marked the actor’s small screen debut, the Mission: Impossible star was once again able to put his acting chops to the display.

Paramount+ may not have “Yellowstone,” but it could soon have Yellowstone. Maybe Earth Day 2025.
Struggling streamer Paramount+ and the National Park Foundation announced a new streaming partnership on Tuesday. You read that right. Under the pact, the Paramount Global SVOD (streaming video on-demand) service will livestream (and provide as video on-demand) sunrise-to-sunset content from seven U.S. national parks: Yosemite National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, New River Gorge National Park & Preserve, Everglades National Park, Death Valley National Park, and Zion National Park.
No mention of Yellowstone, our country’s first national park. How perfect.

Star and executive producer David Oyelowo and Lawmen: Bass Reeves creator, showrunner and executive producer Chad Feehan said Reeves’ family values were what made him stand out. Oyelowo plays Reeves, a U.S. Marshal after the abolition of slavery.
“The way in for a global audience should be not just appealing to the sensibility of people who love westerns but the family,” Oyelowo said at Contenders TV. “Essentially a Black family which is also something you never see in this time period. As we discussed this, we felt the universal element was going to be the work-life balance as something that everyone can relate to.”
Oyelowo said that Reeves was always trying to get back to his family after his arrests. Reeves’ family values also influenced one of the show’s most memorable antagonists, Esau Pierce (Barry Pepper). Feehan said Pierce represents the antithesis of Reeves.

The series recounts the story of family drama that follows along the shared borders of the Yellowstone Ranch, the Broken Rock Indian reservation, Yellowstone National Park, and land developers.

The second half of Yellowstone Season 5 is due to premiere in November, and we're itching to see how it all goes down.
This is a show with no shortage of edge-of-your-seat drama, from some of the craziest family dynamics on television to a host of gruesome murders and coverups.
Since its premiere in 2018, Yellowstone has certainly delivered plenty of on-screen drama to keep us wanting more.
And as we've learned, the drama behind the scenes may be even more scandalous.
Last year, star Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton, the owner of Yellowstone Ranch, revealed his hesitance to return for the final half of Season 5.
He stated he was owed a hefty sum of money for the season and said the decision to split the season into two parts spurred his desire to walk away from the franchise.
But now we're learning he may have just said that in the heat of the moment.

The Western is one of the many genres that have endured in the vast canon of American film. And with Horizon: An American Saga set for release soon, all eyes will be on Kevin Costner to prove that the Western is still as appealing as it ever was.
It would not be incorrect, of course, to suggest that Costner’s forthcoming passion project is pushing the boundaries of his line of work. The Western epic is a big risk for the California-born actor, given how much of his own money went into financing the flick, which will be released in two parts.
Starring Sam Worthington, Costner, and Sienna Miller, among others, the film is set during the American Civil War.
Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga
Even though the backdrop and main idea of Horizon: An American Saga is fairly well-known, Costner might still score a career-high with this film.

Season One of the original Paramount+ series Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone, made its broadcast debut on CBS prior to Season Two launching exclusively on Paramount+
The series is one of the streamer’s most-watched series of all-time, ranking second only behind Taylor Sheridan’s 1923.
Tulsa King follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters, to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as well be another planet.
The first season of the series also stars Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Max Casella, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, Jay Will, A.C. Peterson with Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany.

Movie studios are not known for playing nicely with their competitors. In 2019, most entertainment companies pulled up their drawbridges and hoarded their crown jewels of intellectual property. Batman movies are owned by Warner Bros., so they belonged to then-HBO Max. Paramount owns the Star Trek franchise, so they made a home at Paramount+. The pattern continued across the industry.
But now, something curious is happening. Some of the most closely guarded franchises are moving to unexpected places.
When you watch “The Godfather” and its 1974 sequel, the Paramount logo appears. While the films are still on Paramount+, you can also find them on Apple TV+ and Peacock.
If you’re in the mood for a Tom Cruise “Mission: Impossible” movie, they are all on Paramount+ as they should be, but some titles are on Peacock, one is on Apple TV+, and one is on MGM+.
Warner Bros. loves its superhero franchises.

Kevin Costner has been at an impasse with the producers of “Yellowstone” for over a year about whether or not he’ll return for the hit Paramount Network drama’s final season. In a nutshell, Costner wanted his shooting schedule and his character John Dutton’s exit to be on his own terms, and showrunner Taylor Sheridan does not agree. As of now, “Yellowstone” Season 5 is slated to shoot this spring and summer, without Costner.

Kevin Costner is detailing his Manifest Destiny approach to “Yellowstone” despite rumors of his series exit after Season 5.
Costner, whose self-funded Western, “Horizon: An American Saga,” will be premiering at Cannes, told Entertainment Tonight that he originally hoped to star in seven seasons of the Paramount show.
“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to,” Costner said for an update on the show. “I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”
Costner added his own plot ideas for his character John Dutton, who is the patriarch of the Dutton family.

Kevin Costner says he loved his time on Yellowstone and would be open to reprising his role as John Dutton if asked (even after more than a year of off-camera tensions) — but only if he feels “really comfortable” with what’s presented to him.

Kevin Costner has said he’d like to reprise his role as John Dutton for Yellowstone‘s upcoming fifth and final season.
