- The actress Eva Speyer was a successful stage actress when she got in touch with the film business by chance.
- She experienced the height of her career in the 20's. Many well-known movies came into being in which she proved her talent as a character actress.
- During an engagement at the Lessingtheater she was asked by Paul Otto to play in the movie "Nora" (1911). After this film debut followed other movies in the next years which she viewed as a welcome extra income without artistic challenge.
- In the 30's she only took part in three more movies, these were also her only talkies - "Namensheirat" (1930), "Ich bleib bei Dir" (1932) and "Der weisse Dämon" (1932).
- When the technological basis improved considerable she changed her attitude to the film and saw the possibility to make the art accessible to the audience in an easy way.
