In 2001 the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) held its 17th Annual Awards show, in which it honored Jake by inducting him into the XRCO Hall of Fame. He was noted for his 12-year work in the industry. He is the youngest male to ever be inducted into the critics Hall of Fame.
He always raps for five minutes during the opening and closing credits of his series, "Chillin' with Jake Steed's Freaks Whoes & Flows".
On 6/7/2000 he was arrested on charges of corporal injury to a spouse and false imprisonment. Bail was set at $500,000, which was posted by a bonding company after Steed paid the 10% fee. He never showed up for his trial date in 2001, the bonding company was forced to forfeit the bail and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is reported to have fled the country and, as of 2006, to be living in South America.
