When I was in high school, kids wouldn’t shut up about Isaac Asimov, the American writer and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. When he wasn’t molding young minds in the classroom, Asimov was busy becoming one of the “Big Three” science-fiction writers worldwide. Cerebral and scientific, Asimov’s writing teased the brain and tickled the imagination. In 1988, Asimov partnered with Michael Wagner to create the short-lived TV series Probe. Looked upon fondly by those who remember it, Probe lasted for two months before getting yanked from the ABC Network.
In today’s Gone But Not Forgotten, Parker Stevenson joins us to discuss this rare gem of science-fiction entertainment. Stevenson’s presence makes this a special episode of this series, and we thank him for his participation. If you’re a Probe fan, let us know in the comments!

Like the end of a slo-mo music montage on the beach, “Baywatch” reboot has found a home: Fox has closed on a script+penalty deal for a new version of the long-running surf-sand-and-saviors series from Fremantle.
Fox and Fremantle have tapped Lara Olsen (“Spinning Out”) to serve as showrunner for the new “Baywatch,” which was originally created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann. Starring David Hasselhoff, “Baywatch” originally ran from 1989 to 1999 and then was retooled as “Baywatch: Hawaii” from 1999 to 2001.
Olsen, Berk, Bonann and Schwartz will serve as exec producers on the one-hour drama, which comes from both Fremantle and Fox Entertainment. Here’s the new logline: “Daring ocean rescues, pristine beaches, and iconic red bathing suits are back, along with a whole new generation of Baywatch lifeguards, who navigate complicated, messy personal lives in this action-packed reboot that demonstrates there’s the family you’re born...

J.R. was waiting in line with maybe 200 fellow fans to spend a moment getting the autograph of – and perhaps taking a selfie with – Christina Ricci, the actress who made her debut in the “Addams Family” movies in the 1990s who is now an Emmy-nominated star on the Showtime series “Yellowjackets” as well as a regular on Netflix’s “Wednesday.” The setting on Saturday was the Hollywood Autograph Show at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, a three-times-a-year movie and memorabilia event where fans can come to lay eyes on some old-time celebrity favorites, get their name in ink, pose for a selfie and maybe pick up a book or vintage photograph.
Eighty or so celebrities staked out tables to sign their name and pix for a fee. J.R. was one of those who got hooked on attending these shows a few years back and now never misses one.

Kirstie Alley, the smokey-voiced actress who replaced Shelley Long in the ensemble cast of “Cheers” in 1987 and went on to establish herself and earn plaudits from critics along with a handful of Emmy nominations, died Monday after a short battle with cancer. She was 71 at the time of her death, and her illness had not been well-known outside of immediate family.
When Long departed “Cheers” after playing fussbudget intellectual waitress Diane Chambers for five seasons that generated an Emmy nomination every year (and a lone win in 1983) to pursue a film career in 1987, the press and industry were skeptical about the show’s ability to remain a ratings juggernaut and weren’t initially terribly impressed with Alley’s casting as the replacement. A relatively swift exit from the NBC schedule was considered a real possibility. Instead, “Cheers” thrived with Alley portraying the Boston bar’s brassy, ambitious and completely neurotic middle manager Rebecca Howe,...

Kirstie Alley dished about her love life on Wednesday's episode of Celebrity Big Brother UK. It all started when one of the housemates asked Alley if she ever had an affair with a celebrity while she was married. While Alley said she never had a "consummated affair" with another star, she admitted she did kiss two people, including Patrick Swayze. "I would loved to have had an affair with Patrick Swayze, but we were both married," she said. Alley and Swayze starred on the drama series North and South in 1985. At the time, she was married to Parker Stevenson and Swayze was married to Lisa Niemi. So while the actress "wished" she could have had an affair with the...

Emmy-winning entertainment news journalist Leeza Gibbons listed a residential compound she and husband Steve Fenton used as shared office space in a fashionable neighborhood of West Hollywood, Calif., with an asking price of $3.795 million. The former “Entertainment Tonight” host and 2015 winner of “The Celebrity Apprentice” purchased the property in 2011 for $1.199 million and the many-gabled, somewhat Tudor-ish main house, behind a charming, vine-draped vintage brick and white picket fence, has three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in a bit more than 2,000-square feet. A separate and self-contained guesthouse, where Gibbons’ elder adult son once lived, offers another bedroom and bathroom.
Set in to a puny, steeply gabled porch, the front door opens efficiently if less than ideally directly into a high-ceiled living room anchored by a stone-accented fireplace and filled with light through a tall, multi-paned arched window. A small dining room links the living room to an up-to-date galley kitchen with two-stool...

This is either going to be really good or so bad, it’s great. But either way, ABC’s relaunch of Battle of the Network Stars (premiering Thursday, June 29 at 9/8c) is looking like the summer’s must-see — especially since on Tuesday the full list of competitors was released. The celebrities we’re most psyched to see throwing down in events like the kayak relay race and dunk tank:

Gregory Bonann was a lifeguard at Will Rogers State Beach in 1977 when he helped two children who were caught in a riptide. That rescue would ultimately change his life – and the face of television, setting the stage for the eventual “Baywatch” juggernaut.
Now, with the new feature adaptation of “Baywatch” in theaters this weekend, it’s time to revisit the unusual story of how the lifeguard show made it on the air – ultimately producing 242 episodes before ending its run in 2001.
It all started because it turns out Bonnan had saved the children of Stu Erwin, an executive at Mtm – the independent production company behind series like “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Bob Newhart Show,” and run by legendary exec Grant Tinker.
While visiting Mtm’s offices in Studio City, Bonann pitched Erwin on a drama about lifeguards. The company passed, but Bonann took the opportunity to learn all about the TV biz.

What would happen if you crossed Demon Seed, Burnt Offerings, and The Legacy? You’d end up with a pretty confusing six hour horror movie I’d imagine, so scratch that. But what would happen if you took those same elements, made it a TV movie, and threw in The Hardy Boys’ Parker Stevenson for good measure? Well, then you’d be watching This House Possessed (1981), a supremely goofy, sublimely entertaining movie of the week that’s low on scares but high on smiles.
Broadcast on Friday, February 6th, 1981 as part of The ABC Friday Night Movie, This House Possessed was up against the CBS juggernaut The Dukes of Hazzard/Dallas, and NBC offered up…oh never mind. We were all watching the Dukes and the Ewings, okay? Is that what you want to hear? Fine. But I suppose there had to be some people who were repulsed at the...

While the Emmys may not be as wild as their fellow fall awards show, the VMAs, they've certainly had their share of Omg-worthy moments. Here are just a few we're still talking about.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston's 2014 kiss
Winning an Emmy is pretty exciting in itself. But in 2014, after her name was announced for the outstanding lead actress in a comedy series trophy (for Veep), Louis-Dreyfus got something almost as thrilling: a kiss from Bryan Cranston – who, earlier in the show, she joked she didn't remember. Once on stage, she changed her tune.

Chicago – Television has changed so much in the last generation that it’s hard to imagine a time of only three networks and a limited number of shows premiering every fall. But in the 1970s there were two such TV series, “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries,” starring Parker Stevenson, and “What’s Happening!!,” starring Ernest Thomas. They both made appearances at the “Hollywood Show” in Chicagoland.
The “Hollywood Show” is an event in which fans can mingle, take photographs and get autographs from the celebrities who appear there, and takes place in Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The next session will take place in Los Angeles on January 8th-10th, 2016. For complete details and ticket purchase information, click here.

Longmire is an absolute anomaly in the world of television, which could have something to do with the fact that it was pulled from A&E, despite consistently high ratings for the network. It’s also the reason that it was something of a no-brainer that it would be picked up by someone else, and season four will air on Netflix later in the year.
Where the first two seasons pulled us slowly into the depths of Sheriff Walt Longmire’s life on the sprawling plains of Wyoming, the third season is like the hammer blow that follows the slow, methodical wind-up.
The second season ended by bringing a lot of forces to the fore in a move of plot construction that brilliantly weaves angles and conspiracies into a show that actually makes it difficult to look away. The third season spins this all together, but uses a mode of...

The wonderfully underrated Longmire completed its third season last year and was then canceled by A&E for reasons beyond understanding. After some protracted negotiations amidst a fury of wronged fans taking to social media to save the series, Netflix announced they have picked up the series for a fourth season to air later this year.
Burbank, CA (February 23, 2015) – The stunning skies of Wyoming, and the mysteries beneath them, have never been more enthralling than in the unfolding episodes of Longmire, the popular A&E-turned-Netflix television series. Kirstie Alley has decided to open up about her romantic past, and revealed that Patrick Swayze rejected her offer for sex.

The star has revealed all in her new book, "The Art of Men (I Prefer Mine al Dente)" and now she tells "Entertainment Tonight" that Swayze resisted her sexual advances while they worked together on the sitcom.

Kirstie Alley opened up about the loves of her life during her latest stop by "Jimmy Kimmel Live." It's a topic she gets into in more detail in her latest book, The Art of Men (I Prefer Mine al Dente). Alley talked candidly about falling in love with both John Travolta and Patrick Swayze while she was married to a third man, Parker Stevenson.
She insisted, however, that she was never sexually intimate with either of them, nor did she have an affair. In fact, she instead told her then-husband all about her feelings.
"I can’t believe he didn’t kill me," Alley said. "He should’ve ... he hit me with a towel one day ... If it was me and it was reversed, I would’ve kicked the f*** out of him!"
Alley told "Entertainment Tonight" that she feels falling in love while married is even worse than cheating.
