The Hauge, July 15 (Ians) Dusan Tadic left Ajax with immediate effect after the club accepted the captain’s request to terminate his current contract that runs until mid-2024.
Ajax took over Tadic from English side Southampton in 2018. In his first season under head coach Erik ten Hag, Ajax won domestic league and cup, and headed to the semifinals of the Champions League in a memorable European campaign, reports Xinhua.
In total, the 34-year-old Serbian won three Dutch championships with Ajax and two Dutch Cups. In addition, he received the Dutch Player of the Year award in his first season. Tadic played 241 matches for Ajax, in which he scored 105 goals and gave 112 assists.
His last season was not successful. Under Ten Hag’s successor Alfred Schreuder and later John Heitinga, Ajax did not win a prize and finished in a disappointing third place in the Eredivisie.

With the draw, arguably the most exciting game of the World Cup in Qatar so far, Cameroon kept their hopes alive of reaching the World Cup last 16 Stage.
Both sides lost their opening match so the result leaves them two points adrift of Brazil and Switzerland, who meet later on Monday.
The winner of Monday’s late match qualifying for the next stage, having won their respective first round matches against Cameroon and Serbia respectively.
It now all goes down to Friday matches with both teams needing a win from their next match, with Brazil next up for Cameroon, and Switzerland facing Serbia.
It was a classic intercontinental encounter and a great contest between two different styles. It looked to be Serbia’s game but Cameroon got better and stronger as the game went on and no one knew right up until the last few seconds who would take three points,...

On Saturday, Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace welcomed Ronald Koeman’s Southampton side to Selhurst Park in a game that would have seen the twelfth placed Saints leapfrog sixth placed Palace with a win. Only two points separated the teams so there would be plenty to play for. Southampton had generally enjoyed their trips to Selhurst, having returned victorious on their previous three visits to SE25, while Palace would be looking to gain their first ever Premier League win over Southampton at the eighth attempt.
Could Palace, rejuvenated after their impressive performances in their 1-1 draw against Everton and 5-1 demolition of Newcastle, claim the win? Or would Southampton be able to turn their fortunes around after four successive games without a win – a run that included the 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool in the League Cup?

Steve McClaren’s competitive Newcastle United career has started with a spirited draw against Ronald Koeman’s Southampton.
The Magpies came flying out the blocks against the Saints with a point to prove and pressed, counter-attacked and dominated possession for a good 15 minutes. Their new-season adrenaline rush was squashed by Graziano Pelle’s towering header in which Chancel Mbemba – who jumped to his optimum height – was nowhere near even making a challenge.
But, unlike many of the matches under Alan Pardew and John Carver, the positive passage of play returned to the Magpies after going a goal behind and a chested finish from Papiss Cisse and a bullet-header from Georginio Wijnaldum either side of half-time put the Magpies deservedly in front. From there, Newcastle battled every second ball and a refreshing tenacity swept across St James’ Park as they searched for an opening-day win.

This time last year doom and gloom stained the walls of the St Mary’s Stadium as Southampton’s squad was carefully dissected by bigger teams with more trophies, more money and more Brendan Rodgers than them.
Everyone wrote them off and for good reason; they had lost the core of their side that included manager Mauricio Pochettino moving to Tottenham Hotspur, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert leaving for Liverpool, and Luke Shaw popping off to Manchester United. Behind the scenes, Southampton were carefully rebuilding and the appointment of Ronald Koeman, acquisitions of Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic, and a fearless refusal to accept they were beaten ended with the Saints finishing seventh in the Barclays Premier League.
This season, there is no underdog status or sympathetic transition for Koeman – and Newcastle United will be fully aware of Dutch manager’s slick and adventurous playing style.

With the January transfer window about to open, we are about to enter a silly season on transfers. Clubs pushing for honours will be looking for the final piece of the puzzle to give them the edge over their rivals, those at the bottom will be desperate to make the signings to pull them out of the drop zone.
Having begun the season amongst many pundits’ candidates for relegation and now instead flying high in fourth place going into the new year, Southampton are not so obviously in need of new additions. However, the need to maintain this, perhaps unexpected, early momentum with a squad that is undoubtedly thin in places makes Saints a club that could use a couple of well chosen signings in January.

Off the back of being named September’s Manager of the Month on Friday, Ronald Koeman guided Southampton to their biggest ever win in the top flight, as Saints beat Sunderland 8-0 this weekend.
Southampton, who last won by the same scoreline against Northampton Town in the Third Division South way back in December 1921, now become only the fifth team since the inception of the Premier League to win by at least an eight goal margin. They follow Manchester United’s 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995, along with Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea who have all won by eight in the last two decades.
Koeman had described Sunderland as “strong opponents with a good defence” in the build up to the game, while after the match he told the press that: “I was not happy with how we started the game. Sunderland was the dominant team”.

Having lost five key players over a summer selling spree, Southampton have earned a cool £92 million in spending money and, with the Premier League season about to kick off this weekend, it seems that they are finally feeling the pressure to start re-investing that cash in building up a new squad.
Last Friday saw the announcement of the £10 million signing of Celtic and England goalkeeper Fraser Forster and today Saints have added two more players to their still slender squad for a combined cost of £18 million. Hull City striker Shane Long and Steaua Bucharest defender Florin Gardos join Forster, Graziano Pelle, Dusan Tadic, and Saphir Taider as new additions to this season’s Saints squad.
Long, whose undisclosed transfer fee is believed to be around £12 million, had only joined the Tigers from West Brom in the January transfer window for £6 million, so it...

Fresh from seeing his entire team sold to Southampterpool – sorry Liverpool – Ronald Koeman has set his sights on bringing two young Gunners to the south coast to join fellow new signings Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle in what must be the quietest dressing room in the Premier League.
As Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin presumably stand by the door with their suitcases packed ready for moves to either Liverpool (of course) or Tottenham, it looks like Carl Jenkinson and highly-rated German Serge Gnabry might be heading into the club to fill up some of the first-team spaces vacated by Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren, Callum Chambers and the six unluckiest released players on the not-retained list in the club’s history.
Flush with unimaginable wealth after selling almost all of their prized assets, Koeman will no doubt be hoping to add...

Arsenal have completed the signing of Southampton defender Calum Chambers, who makes the switch to the Emirates for £16 million after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical with Arsene Wenger’s side.
The Gunners confirmed the deal on their website on Monday afternoon, even after manager Arsene Wenger hinted that the transfer of the player was a ‘risk’ on his club’s part.
Wenger, according to the Express, stated prior to the conclusion of the deal: “He hasn’t played many games, no, but the English players on the market in England are very expensive and at the end of the day I was ready to take a gamble because he is a player for the future.”
Chambers is however delighted with the move following its conclusion. He told the Arsenal site: “I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal. They are a team I have much admired for their playing style,...

With Southampton looking to rebuild after a summer that has seen their top talents leave the club, Graziano Pelle has signed for the Saints from Feyenoord for a fee believed to be in the region of £9 million, according to the Express. The striker, who scored 50 league goals in 57 Eredivisie games across two seasons for the Dutch side, reunites with his old manager Ronald Koeman on a three-year deal at St. Mary’s.

Graziano Pelle’s move from Dutch team Feyenoord has reportedly stalled after Southampton have stopped short of the £8 million asking price, according to Goal.
The 28 year-old striker, who netted 23 goals in 28 appearances last season for Feyenoord, has been on the new Southampton manager Ronald Koeman’s radar since taking over from previous manager Mauricio Pochettino earlier this month.
According to Sky Sports, Southampton launched a first bid for the front-man in the region of €12 million last week.
Pelle has been tipped to be Southampton’s primary transfer target to replace Rickie Lambert after the 32 year-old striker parted ways with the club and followed his childhood dream to sign for Liverpool last month.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has turned to Fc Twente winger Dusan Tadic to replace departed midfielder Adam Lallana, according to the Mirror.
The Saints are believed to have agreed a £10 million fee for the 25-year-old Serbia international, who has struck 28 goals in 66 appearances for his club over two seasons.
Tadic has netted a further six in 25 appearances for his country.
The move comes as Lallana became the third Southampton player to leave the club this summer, following teammate Rickie Lambert to Liverpool in a £25 million deal.
Left-back Luke Shaw also left to join Manchester United.
But the south coast club have promised manager Koeman that the proceeds from those transfers will be reinvested back into the side, with the Dutch boss also weighing up more deals.
