Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. This is the first appearance of the returning Bray Wyatt on the blue brand, which should make for an interesting show!
Match #1: Sami Zayn def. Kofi Kingston The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Much like previous weeks Jey Uso was in Sami Zayn’s corner but after a phone call from Roman Reigns, “Main Event” Jey Uso seemed more willing to offer aid to his honorary Bloodline member. Jey Uso took umbrage with Xavier Woods’ presence by Superkicking him, allowing Zayn to hit the Blue Thunder Bomb in the fracas for a close two count. Kingston had Zayn locked up in a pinning attempt but Jey proved key, pushing Kingston so that Zayn was pinning Kingston instead. This let Zayn pick up the much-needed victory.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Braun Strowman’s def.

Songs On Screen: All week Hitfix will be featuring tributes by writers to their favorite musical moments from TV and film. Check out the full series here. Last month when we did our Best Year in Film History series, I picked second and, as a result, I was able to select the correct answer: The best year in American cinematic history, at least over the last 50 years, is 1974 and any disagreements sadden and bore me. With that undeclared, but indisputable, victory in my back pocket, I was able to happily let colleagues choose many of my personal favorites for our Songs on Screen battle. You won't hear me say anything negative about "Fight the Power" and its centrality to "Do the Right Thing" or the evocative pull of "Nobody Does It Better" (or a slew of other James Bond themes) or the timelessness of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Nor will...

Robert Redford movies: TCM shows 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,' 'The Sting' They don't make movie stars like they used to, back in the days of Louis B. Mayer, Jack Warner, and Harry Cohn. That's what nostalgists have been bitching about for the last four or five decades; never mind the fact that movie stars have remained as big as ever despite the demise of the old studio system and the spectacular rise of television more than sixty years ago. This month of January 2015, Turner Classic Movies will be honoring one such post-studio era superstar: Robert Redford. Beginning this Monday evening, January 6, TCM will be presenting 15 Robert Redford movies. Tonight's entries include Redford's two biggest blockbusters, both directed by George Roy Hill and co-starring Paul Newman: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which turned Redford, already in his early 30s, into a major film star to rival Rudolph Valentino,...

There are plenty of lingering questions from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trailer. Who are the villains? What's that orb Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is picking up at the beginning? And what the heck is that song playing on his headphones? That song, if you didn't know, is "Hooked On A Feeling." Originally written in 1968 by Mark James and performed by B.J. Thomas, it didn't really become popular until Swedish pop group Blue Swede ...

London, May 16: The intimate secrets of a passionate wartime affair has been laid bare in 300 love letters dating back to Word War II.
The exchanges between a married surgeon and a young nurse show little has changed since the Second World War when it comes to sexy messages that keep long-distance love alive.
As well as declaring undying devotion to each other, Brian Thomas and Katie Walker discussed her homemade lingerie and she even fantasised about being spanked by him, the Mirror reported.
The letters have been compared to mummy porn novel Fifty Shades of Grey by El James.
But Brian and Katie's love was real and it lasted the rest of their lives.
Loraine Fergusson found the proof in a neat bundle,.

A Pre-Grammy Conversation with Bob Clearmountain
Mike Ragogna: Bob, here at the Grammys watching over the sonics of the Bruce Springsteen segment. What are some of the things you look out for when it comes to the right mix on Bruce?
Bob Clearmountain: The thing with Bruce, and any artist like Bruce, is that the most important thing is the song, getting across the meaning and the character of the song. Bruce is almost like an actor in that he creates a character for each of his songs. He wants to make sure that the narrative of the song comes across. It's no different here than it is with making records. There has to be no disconnect between that character you create and the narrative. Basically, that's what I look for. The rest of it is all making it sound good and as exciting as possible. The song he's...

Volkswagen is behind some of the most iconic and innovative advertising campaigns in human history. The German automobile manufacturer's 1959 Think Small advert was conceived by hallowed copywriter Julian Koenig and is #1 on the list of Advertising Age's top 100 ads from 1900 to 1999. Lemon, Volkswagen's follow-up campaign to Think Small, was the object of attention on the third episode of Mad Men. And if those aren't accolades enough, both campaigns are referenced in Wikipedia's 7,900+ word entry on "Advertising." Given Volkswagen's revered status in the industry, its disappointing to see the company make safe, familiar advertising decisions. And their latest partnership with Tlc.com for the the original web series, The Great Getaway is nothing but safe and familiar. Produced by Tlc, the five-part web show follows the seven-member Woods family on their road trip to Sedona, Az and features the comfortable stylings of the Vw Routan all along the way.
