Adam Sandler may be an icon himself but he admits he gets a bit nervous anytime he’s around global superstar Taylor Swift.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Sandler and host Conan O’Brien were talking about stars they idolized growing up, and how newer celebrities don’t typically have the same effect on them.
“What I have found is that people can be absolute icons, make the biggest stars in the world, but if they came along five years ago, I’m very happy to meet them, but they don’t have that effect on me. I’m not like, ‘Oh my, oh my God,’ you know, the way I would be from anybody that I saw [growing up],” O’Brien explained.
But the Murder Mystery 2 actor revealed there’s one 21st-century celebrity that he gets starstruck over.

Adam Sandler’s daughter Sunny Sandler is now a movie star in her own right, but before she had a clear sense of how Hollywood works, she wasn’t thrilled about seeing her dad kiss actresses for his films.
Sandler appeared as a guest on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday to promote his new Netflix animated feature, Leo, in which his daughters, Sadie and Sunny, join him in the voice cast. He and Hudson reminisced about co-starring together in Netflix’s 2017 title Sandy Wexler, with Hudson remembering that her son, David, who was 6 years old at the time, was confused as to why she was kissing her co-star in a scene.
For his part, Sandler responded that his own daughters have sometimes struggled with seeing him smooch actresses for his projects, with Sunny, now 15, having had a stronger reaction to it than her older sister, Sadie, now 17. Sunny and...

“Leo” is a movie produced by Happy Madison Productions, which, as you may already know, is Adam Sandler‘s production company.

And if you haven’t guessed it already, it’s Adam Sandler himself who lends his voice to the lizard.

It’s a cool indie weekend when the new album by André 3000, New Blue Sun, has morphed into a “cinematic listening experience.” Variance Films is putting the experience, directed by Terence Nance, into three theaters in NYC (IFC Center), LA (Cinepolis Inglewood) and Atlanta (Tara).
Right now, it’s just those locations but after this weekend, “We will see what happens, where the wind takes us,” said Variance CEO Dylan Marchetti. “I swear, I wanted to make a ‘visual album’ but this is literally the way the wind blew me this time,” André has said.
Asked what’s is on the screen, Marchetti said, “Vibes.”
New Blue Sun, out today, is André’s debut solo album, his first full-length LP since his group Outkast released its last record 17 years ago. He described it as “an entirely instrumental album centered around woodwinds; a celebratory piece of work in the form of a living,...

At a comedy show on Wednesday, actor Adam Sandler paused his performance to make sure an audience member was okay.
In a video captured by a fan, Sandler pointed the medical personnel to the person from the stage. He directed, “Okay, here we go – oh wait up guys, right down there. On the left. Let’s go.”
Medical staff made their way into the audience with a stretcher in tow. “Alright, let’s get there, y’all. Everything should be alright. Alright, alright, alright…. We’ll be a few minutes, guys,” Sandler said.
He told the crowd, “Let’s take a few seconds, we’ll just let these guys concentrate, alright? Love y’all.”
Once sure that the audience member had received the appropriate care he needed, Sandler said, “We’re all wishing you well there, youngster, feel better back there. Sorry about that… I hope everybody’s good, everybody’s alright.

Since the early days of his career on "Saturday Night Live," Adam Sandler has established himself as one of Hollywood's most prolific actors, producers, and filmmakers - not to mention comedians! Adam's versatile approach to comedy along with his recurring collaborations with friends on screen draw audiences to his movies and keep viewers coming back for more. The "Hustle" star is known for bringing his fellow actor and comedian friends to star in his film projects, like Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade. But he notably incorporates his family - especially his wife, Jackie Sandler - into his movies as well.
Recently, Jackie played a particularly big role in Adam's latest Netflix movie "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah," which also stars their daughters, Sadie and Sunny. She also voices a character in Adam's upcoming animated feature, "Leo," which also includes their two daughters.

"Saturday Night Live" vet and comedy movie icon Adam Sandler and his wife Jackie Sandler are all about the movies. The two met on the set of his 1999 film "Big Daddy" and since then, Jackie has continued to have roles in many of Adam's films. Better yet, Adam and Jackie's two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, are in the business too, and their star power has only grown through the years.
Adam's daughters started out in the business with bit parts in his films, including those that his production company, Happy Madison, produced that he was not in. For example, they were both in "The Wrong Missy" on Netflix alongside Jackie. But they took center stage in the new Netflix teen comedy "You're So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah" that hit the streamer on Aug. 25. The movie proves Sadie and Sunny are just as talented and funny as their famous...

Los Angeles, Sept 2 (Ians) Actor-comedian Adam Sandler’s daughter got a lot of notoriety for her series ‘You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah’, (also called Yasnitmbm) despite the show’s high positive ratings due to audiences calling her role “a nepo kid’s privilege.”
In response to this, Adam Sandler has defended casting his daughters in starring roles alongside himself. Asked about the ‘nepo kid’ controversy, Sandler had admitted that while he cast his friends and family members, he doesn’t do it if he doesn’t see any potential in them.
Adding to his rebuttal of the argument, the series producer-director Sammi Cohen also chimed in and said, “Sandler has a reputation for making movies with his friends, and that’s something we all want to do. What I say is, he’s still making movies with his friends, but they’re his kids.”

Netflix's "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah" hit close to home for Adam Sandler and his family. For Sandler's youngest daughter, Sunny Sandler, who stars alongside her dad and sister in the movie, filming for the production was extra special thanks to the fact that it nearly coincided with her actual bat mitzvah when she turned 13.
"We got to do the real-life bat mitzvah and then left to make the movie."
Speaking with People shortly after the film premiered on Aug. 25, Director Sammi Cohen reflected on what it was like for the cast and crew to jump from witnessing a real-life coming-of-age moment to capturing the experience on film. "What's really funny is right before we started prepping for the film, Sunny had her actual bat mitzvah," Cohen said of Sunny's big day. "So I went to that service, and we...

Adam Sandler is known for having released crowd-pleasing comedies for decades, but it’s Sammi Cohen — director of the new Netflix feature You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah — who has the distinction of helming the actor’s best-reviewed film, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Released Friday, My Bat Mitzvah is a Sandler family affair, with Sandler playing Danny Friedman, father to daughters Stacy (Sunny Sandler) and Ronnie (Sadie Sandler), who are portrayed by Adam Sandler’s real-life teen children. Adapting Fiona Rosenbloom’s 2005 novel of the same name and focusing on Stacy and best friend Lydia (Samantha Lorraine) — whose bat mitzvah plans fall apart over their mutual interest in a popular boy — the movie also includes Adam Sandler’s real-life wife Jackie Sandler as Lydia’s mom, in addition to Idina Menzel as mother to Stacy and Ronnie.

Adam Sandler drew raves for his performance in “Uncut Gems,” but his latest Netflix movie, “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” has so far gotten even better critics’ reviews, as well as raves for his youngest daughter, Sunny.
As of Monday afternoon, the family comedy, which co-stars his daughters, had a 96% positive ratings from critics, while the 2019 Safdie Brothers drama sits at 91%.
Audiences, at 66% positive, were less gung-ho about the Sammi Cohen-directed comedy, which premiered Aug. 25 on the streamer.
Critics are saying, essentially, “hurrah for nepotism” about Sandler’s daughter Sunny, who stars as Stacy Friedman who clashes with her Bff (Samantha Lorraine) right before their respective bat mitzvahs.
Sunny’s real-life sister Sadie Sandler plays her older sister, Ronnie, while former “Saturday Night Live” regular who also produced,” plays their father in role with limited screen time. Jackie Sandler, their real mother, also appears in the film,...

Adam Sandler has a new all-time best-reviewed movie.
The actor-comedian’s latest Netflix title, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, has managed to draw a higher Rotten Tomatoes score than any of his previous films across 34 years of making movies.
The teen comedy — which began streaming Friday — has a 96 percent “Fresh” score on the site.
That just edges out 2022’s Hustle (93 percent), 2017’s The Meyerowitz Stories (92 percent) and 2019’s Uncut Gems (91 percent). Having said that, there’s always the possibility that additional negative reviews for Bat Mitzvah could alter the standings later in the week.
Sandler has a relatively minor role in the Bat Mitzvah, but he produced the film and it stars his teenage daughters, Sunny and Sadie, with Sandler playing their father.
The Hollywood Reporter’s was among the rave reviews, saying “the rampant nepotism on display has resulted in a sweet, amusing film geared toward younger audiences,...

Sammi Cohen has joked that Adam Sandler and Idina Menzel's 'You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah' relationship is the prelude to their 'Uncut Gems' roles.Adam and Idina play a happily married couple in 'Bat Mitzvah' but they portrayed an estranged husband and wife in the 2019 movie 'Uncut Gems' and director Cohen sees some similarities between the two couples. She told Variety: "Idina is the best. Adam really loved working with her on 'Uncut Gems'. I joke that 'Bat Mitzvah' is like the happy side of their marriage, the prelude to 'Uncut Gems'. We wanted the Friedman family to feel warm, sweet, goofy, normal, relatable; she was just the perfect fit. And she’s also incredibly talented and on top of that is just a really lovely human being."The movie is a family affair for Adam, whose daughters Sunny and Sadie play the Bat Mitzvah...

We all know that Adam Sandler likes working with people he knows. The movies he produces with his production company Happy Madison regularly feature Kevin Nealon, Rob Schneider, and other cast members from his Saturday Night Live days. Many of his movies also feature supporting turns from guys you only see in Happy Madison flicks, like Alan Covert and Peter Dante. And, of course, he loves to cast Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore as his love interests.
So it’s no surprise that Sandler’s latest Netflix movie You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzah sees him once again paired with Idina Menzel, who played his wife in Uncut Gems. But Sandler isn’t the star of You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, a comedy based on the 2005 YA novel by Fiona Rosenbloom. Adam Sandler long ago perfected the art of working with his friends. So what’s next? Now, he’s taking that same approach of working with people he already knows and loves to generate a platform, through his Happy Madison production shingle and streaming giant Netflix, for his own daughters Sunny and Sadie Sandler to shine.
Is it still nepotism if it’s this blatant? Probably — but in an added twist, Sandler’s choice to bolster his daughters comes with a pleasant surprise: it works, and well.
Directed by Sammi Cohen, this new entry in the Sandler-family-business model, “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” is an endearing take on the coming-of-age tween film, with a heavy dose of religion — in the best way. Sunny Sandler stars as Stacy, a sweet 13-year-old who dreams of a blow-out bash bat mitzvah, one heavy on the New York City influences and Lmfao bangers,...

Let’s clarify that…Adam Sandler isn’t a lizard. Rather, Sandler voices a lizard with big dreams of escaping his ordinary life as a classroom pet in the animated musical comedy Leo.
Bill Burr provides the voice of Leo’s turtle sidekick. The voice cast also includes Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Rob Schneider, and Jo Koy. Jackie Sandler, Heidi Gardner, Robert Smigel, Nick Swardson, Stephanie Hsu, and Nicholas Turturro also lend their voices to the family-friendly film.
Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel, and David Wachtenheim directed from a screenplay by Smigel, Adam Sandler, and Paul Sado. Geoff Zanelli composed the original score.
Netflix has set a November 21, 2023 premiere date.

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming animated movie musical Leo, which sees the actor and comedian re-teaming with his daughters Sadie and Sunny in a film about an aging class pet who discovers he has just one year left to live.
Produced by Happy Madison and directed by Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel and David Wachtenheim, Leo follows Sandler’s 74-year-old lizard who learns he doesn’t have much time left. As his Florida elementary school students prepare for their last year, Leo follows suit, deciding that his last year will be spent differently than his previous decades with terrarium-mate turtle (Bill Burr).
“I got a feeling this year’s gonna be different,” Leo says in the nearly minute-and-a-half first look. “Something big is going to happen.”

“Back to school. Back to school. Back to school.” It’s the end of the summer, and many are singing the back-to-school song that Adam Sandler once sang in his beloved classic, Billy Madison. Even Adam Sandler. Netflix has released the trailer for their newest animated original for the whole family, Leo. Sandler plays the titular Leo — the class pet lizard. Joining Sandler in an against-type of role is comedian Bill Burr, whose normal profanity-laced humor takes a break in lieu of family-friendly comedy. Here, Burr plays the class pet turtle who shares the terrarium with Leo.

Throughout Adam Sandler's deeply wide-ranging career, the talented actor has delivered some pretty wild performances that have ping-ponged from one extreme to the other. After his run through the '90s and early aughts included hits like "Happy Gilmore," "The Wedding Singer," and especially "Punch-Drunk Love," he more or less lapsed into autopilot mode with several undemanding comedies before roaring back to life with "Sandy Wexler," "The Meyerowitz Stories," and "Uncut Gems." Well, now audiences are about to see Sandler as they never have before: as a lizard.

Jennifer Aniston‘s profile in WSJ. Magazine unearthed a tidbit that may surprise some people.
While touching on Aniston’s role in the Netflix film “Murder Mystery 2”, the writer Ellen Gamerman mentioned that Adam Sandler plays her movie husband. And, in doing so, Gamerman also mentioned how Aniston’s and Sandler’s friendship goes way back. They’re close friends who met in their 20s. Then, the tidbit.

Adam Sandler stars in a Netflix movie of a different sort in the first teaser trailer for the original animated film “Leo,” which he also co-wrote with longtime collaborator Robert Smigel.
Described as a “coming-of-age musical comedy,” Sandler voices a 74-year-old lizard who’s been stuck in the same Florida classroom for decades. When he discovers he only has one year left to live (grim stuff!), he plots an escape — only to get “caught up in the problems of his anxious students.”

You have to give Adam Sandler props for being a very good family man. When he wants to spend time with his wife and children, he doesn’t just take them on vacation, he makes movies with them. And sometimes both at the same time. He’s outdone himself with his latest effort for Netflix, Sammi Cohen’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, based on Fiona Rosenbloom’s 2005 YA novel and featuring his daughter Sunny Sandler in the lead role, along with her older sister Sadie Sandler, her mother Jackie Sandler and her father Adam in supporting turns. It seems less a movie than a family project.

The growing pains and dramatic throes of girlhood can be character building, traumatic, and cathartic — for both cinematic protagonists and their audience. It’s certainly not an easy time for the heroine at the center of “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” whose impending rite-of-passage ushers in an adulthood she’s not quite ready to handle. Director Sammi Cohen and screenwriter Alison Peck bestow this hilarious, heartrending adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom’s novel with an uplifting, effervescent vision and vitality, giving voice to a young Jewish girl’s struggle to figure out who she is before the most important night of her life so far.

Adam Sandler's latest Netflix comedy is a family affair. While fans of the comedian are familiar with his wife, Jackie Sandler, appearing in many of his movies in small roles, when it comes to the upcoming "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah," it's his daughters, Sunny and Sadie, who take center stage.
The new movie follows lifelong best friends Stacy (Sunny) and Lydia (Samantha Lorraine), two 12-year-olds determined to throw the best bat mitzvahs to ensure their adult lives start with a bang. But when a popular boy, Andy Goldfarb (Dylan Hoffman), comes between them, can their friendship and carefully laid party plans survive Hebrew school drama? Fans of Adam will get to see the comedian play his real-life daughters' dad in the movie and likely offer tons of humorous - yet sage - fatherly advice as all the teenage chaos and drama ensues around him.
