The Alien Report: "The Alien Report follows "The Abductee" (Braxton Hale), an everyday American who finds himself hijacked by extraterrestrial beings and taken on a terrifying journey of self-preservation, running afoul of classic "grey aliens", disturbing human-et hybrids, and the U.S. government's shady Men in Black. Based on countless documented reports made by self-proclaimed abductees, The Alien Report is a meticulous, straight-faced look at what an real-life alien abduction would be like, from the perspective of first-person cameras.
The Alien Report has screened at festivals worldwide, winning awards in the U.S., UK, Australia, and Brazil. Shot on iPhone and GoPro cameras as a non-traditional narrative composed of re-assembled found footage, the picture plays out as both a sci-fi thriller and first-person documentary. It is the intended first chapter in a trilogy of films about extraterrestrial abductions.
The Alien Report was directed by Patrick Donnelly and produced by Kevin Schroeder and Michael Sell.

It’s April and we’re bringing even more fun to Screambox, with new films including Stuart Gordon’s King of the Ants, the Lebanese found-footage horror What Is Buried Must Remain, and bonkers B-movie Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies.
What Is Buried Must Remain haunts Screambox on April 12. A modern ghost story with ancient roots, the timely Lebanese found-footage hybrid finds young filmmakers confronted by supernatural forces engaged in a war for the very soul of the land.
Screambox goes to war with Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies on April 12. Indie horror staple Bill Oberst Jr. (3 From Hell) stars as the President who emancipated the slaves, saved the Union, and slaughtered the undead.
Rise of the Zombies also takes a bite out of Screambox on April 12. Its all-star cast includes Mariel Hemingway (Manhattan), Ethan Suplee (Mallrats), LeVar Burton (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”), Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn), and French Stewart...

Mark L. Lester's ultra-violent 1985 actioner "Commando" is entertainingly ridiculous and ridiculously entertaining. Few films of the era reflect on the ultra-violent military fantasies of Reagan's America better than "Commando," an irony to be sure, as it stars a massive Austrian actor. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a former Special Forces Colonel named John Matrix who is attempting to live a quiet life with his sweet daughter Jenny (Alyssa Milano). When Jenny is kidnapped by a vengeful villain played by Dan Hedaya, it gives John the moral license to murder about a thousand people in a violent quest to rescue her. John Matrix shoots, explodes, cuts, stabs, and buzzsaw-frisbees his way through Hedaya's minions without a scratch, a military superman with untouchable skill and an unslaked bloodlust.
The violence in "Commando" is horrifying and spectacular. Looking over the film's parental advisory on IMDb may sell the film better than any conventional advertisement.

The Price We Pay is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, from a script written by Christopher Jolley, and stars Gigi Zumbado, Stephen Dorff, Emile Hirsch, Vernon Wells, Erika Ervin, and Tanner Zagarino; and follows a group of robbers and their hostage finding out that the farmhouse they’ve taken refuge in is far from the haven they thought it would be, forcing them to survive the owners’ onslaught…
Kitamura once again returns to the well of threadbare activities in secluded locations. This time, Jolley takes the helmer’s film to a farmhouse, and that’s right about where the plot developments end. It’s a simple and heavily disappointing choice to focus on nothing. After a prologue showing a prostitute being dumped at a quiet gas station and kidnapped by an as-of-yet-unseen figure,...

The plot may be predictable but for fans of the gory revenge genre, director Ryûhei Kitamura’s latest is a solid genre exercise
An intensively minced blend of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and an Abdominal Surgery for Beginners DVD, this is a solid genre exercise in gore and retribution. After an ominous abduction scene featuring nubile victim Carly (Sabina Mach), the film cuts to down-on-her-luck pawn-shop customer Grace (a very watchable Gigi Zumbado) trying with another trinket just as the place is being burgled by three armed robbers; these are former army medic Cody (Stephen Dorff), plus brothers Alex (Emile Hirsch) and Shane (Tanner Zagarino). A fourth man in the gang, the getaway driver, takes off in a panic and Grace is pressed into driving them away from the crime scene after Shane is shot in the leg.

"They found something out there... something buried in the cold." Black Mandala has revealed a trailer for an indie horror film from Canada called Blood & Snow, the latest from genre filmmaker Jesse Palangio. That is a remarkably generic title for this horror film, which also just seems like a sort of remake/remix of The Thing, with a similar premise. Two scientists uncover a meteorite impact site in the Arctic tundra, but it kills one scientist and infects the other. A nearby base takes in the lone survivor whilst trying to understand what happened. The lone survivor may not be the person they think she is. Of course not, have they ever seen The Thing – any three of the movies? Blood & Snow stars Simon Phillips, Vernon Wells, Anne-Carolyne Binette, Blake Canning, Michael Swatton, & Brianna Ripley. It has played at a few genre fests already, starting at HorrorHound in Cincinnati, and...

Over the last couple decades, director Mike Hurst has brought us several genre films – House of the Dead 2, Room 6, The Darkroom, Pumpkinhead 4: Blood Feud, Paradox – and his latest is a self-financed labor of love he has been working on for the last four years. It’s called Transmission, and it has been officially accepted into the Pigeon Shrine FrightFest festival that’s set to be held in London from August 24th through 28th. In anticipation of Transmission‘s FrightFest screening, we’ve gotten our hands on the trailer for the film, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Here’s how Hurst described the film: “Basically the whole movie takes place on a TV screen as we channel-surf late at night, slowly realizing that the different stories on the different channels are actually all connected, all parts of the same horrific story…” As the viewer flips through the channels,...

If you don't know him by name, you almost certainly know Vernon Wells by his face if you're a fan of '80s movies. He was Bennett, the Aussie villain with the chainmail tank top and Freddie Mercury mustache in "Commando," and he scared the pants off kids as Mr. Igoe, the sinister hitman with an interchangeable hand in "Innerspace." Or you may remember him as Lord General, the crazed leader of a mutant biker gang that crashes the party in "Weird Science."
Wells' career as one of Hollywood's go-to bad guys at the time was made possible by his ferocious performance as Wez, the psychotic henchman in "The Road Warrior," George Miller's sequel to his low-budget smash, "Mad Max." This time around, a bigger budget enabled the director to go bigger, faster, wilder, and weirder than his original vision. This time, our hero Max Rocktansky is battling a...

Murder Syndicate opens with Isa driving her car and dealing with her three squabbling offspring, Cain, Becca and Jonah.
But this isn’t some suburban soccer mom taking her kids to school. She’s the head of a criminal syndicate and they’re professional assassins on the way to a job. A job that almost fails when Isa mysteriously collapses. Isa’s boyfriend Zane turns up in time to get them to safety but it’s obvious something is wrong. The Price We Pay is a 2022 thriller movie with Stephen Dorff, Sabina Mach and Erika Ervin. It is directed by Ryûhei Kitamura and written by Christopher Jolley.
The Price We Pay is a movie that is a combination of horror and thriller. The cast should make it work, the idea is good too, the script… something else again. This is a movie that always resorts to simple easy things and finds shelter in clichés and exaggerations to offer us a movie that does not catch our attention because what it is after is precisely that and which it does excessively.
About the Movie
This is a B series movie with a Blockbusters spirit of those years and very little originality in some of its proposals. The Price We Pay starts in a gas station (ideal setting that is almost a genre in itself) and defines itself as a “dirty” horror movie,...

‘The Price We Pay’ Review: Emile Hirsch and Stephen Dorff Get a Grisly Surprise at an Isolated Ranch
Genre fans will get their money’s worth from “The Price We Pay,” a violent and grisly crime-horror-action outing with no pretensions of being anything else. What this tale of crooks holed up at a lonely farm with a hideous secret lacks in originality it makes up for with energetic direction by Ryuhei Kitamura (“Midnight Meat Train”), excellent practical gore effects and strong performances by a quality cast including Emile Hirsch, Stephen Dorff and Gigi Zumbado. The kind of no-nonsense exploitation film that once had ’em hootin’ at the grindhouse, VOD-available “Price” will be released on limited screens by Lionsgate on Jan. 13.
The bodies start piling up soon after Grace (Zumbado of “Bridge and Tunnel”) enters a pawn shop on the outskirts of a dusty town. Down on her luck and badly in debt to the shop’s sleazy owner, Grace hardly has time to fend off his advances before...

This year is already off to an incredible start for the horror genre, with M3GAN scaring up big time profits in theaters and “The Last of Us” getting set to elevate horror television on HBO.
Much like last week, this second week of 2023 is similarly home to several exciting new horror releases, including the return of Kevin Williamson plus the arrival of a viral horror indie.
Not to mention, this Friday is the first Friday the 13th of 2023!
Here’s all the new horror releasing January 10 – January 13, 2023…
First up, from Ryûhei Kitamura, the director of Midnight Meat Train, comes Lionsgate’s The Price We Pay, which just debuted on VOD this Tuesday and comes to select theaters Friday.
Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Stephen Dorff (Blade) star in The Price We Pay, which looks like a genre fusion of an action-thriller and a slasher movie all in one crazy package.

"Let's see how deep this rabbit hole goes…" Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for a grindhouse crime thriller titled The Price We Pay, a new film from Japanese genre director Ryûhei Kitamura (best known for Versus and The Midnight Meat Train). After playing at a few horror festivals earlier this year, the film will be out on VOD to watch in January if anyone is curious. After a pawn shop robbery goes askew, two criminals take refuge at a remote farmhouse to try to let the heat die down, but find something much more menacing. They discover a secret dungeon with sadistic violence—and when "Grandfather" comes home, all hell breaks loose. The film stars Stephen Dorff & Emile Hirsch, with Gigi Zumbado, Tyler Sanders, Erika Ervin, Jesse Kinser, Sabina Mach, Vernon Wells, and Tanner Zagarino. This seems like it borrows so many ideas from other, better horror films and mashes them into a forgettable,...

Frost begins with a reunion between Grant and Abbey the daughter he hasn’t spoken to in five years. She’s about to become a mother and wants her child to be able to have a relationship with its grandfather. After a rather guarded start, they find common ground over memories of her late mother and start bonding.
The next day they decide to further revisit the old days with a father-daughter fishing trip. This is where the film shifts from a domestic drama to a survival thriller as their car skids off the road. Grant is able to get free but Abbey is trapped in her seat. With a severe snowstorm on the way, Grant has no choice but to leave her and try to find help.

Another year, another chilly winter take about being stuck in a car in freezing conditions. This time the unlucky pair are a father and daughter. We meet her first – Abby (Devanny Pinn), driving along a remote road with a sign marked ‘Icy’ to visit the dad she hasn’t seen in years, not needing words to explain why. Grant (Vernon Wells) can see at a glance that she’s pregnant – almost at the end of her third trimester – and it seems like reason enough to try to patch up the relationship which has been broken since her mother’s death. She still snipes at him about his drinking, about his decision to move into the middle of nowhere and make his living by hunting and selling skins. He tries to take it in his stride. He’s missed her, and they’re both feeling excited about a better future as they drive.

"Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" allowed George Miller's insane action universe to expand into more adventurous territory when it came out in 1985. The previous entry, "The Road Warrior," did well to establish clear-cut villains for Max (Mel Gibson) to battle — even if the characters of Lord Humungus (Kjell Nilsson) and Wez (Vernon Wells) were a little one dimensional. For the sequel, Miller needed a more complex villain that had a reason for existing other than to simply cause chaos across a post-apocalyptic hellscape.
Tina Turner was an inspired choice to play an intelligent, conniving villainess that could truly challenge Max as the leader of this strange, dangerous new world. Her character Aunty Entity was more than just a rampaging antagonist for Max to battle: As the mayor of Bartertown, she built a bustling community that was able to survive and thrive under her control. Turner was already an aspirational figure...

"We've got a storm coming in!" Don't forget your jacket!! Cleopatra Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for an indie B-movie survival thriller titled Frost, from low budget genre filmmaker Brandon Slagle. It will be debuting direct-to-vod to watch this October. A young woman and her estranged father fight to survive after being stranded on a remote mountainside during an intense winter storm. A car crash leaves her stranded in a freezing cold car without any help coming soon. Starring Vernon Wells and Devanny Pinn. Also co-starring a wolf named "Shadow" as the wolf in the movie. Not surprisingly at all, this looks awful. The trailer also absurdly reveals one of the big twists, which makes it even more ridiculous. Have fun. ›››
