The new creature feature from Universal will stream on Peacock, but how long will it take to arrive?
We’re only halfway to Halloween 2024, but Universal Studios isn’t reserving all of its horror films for Spooky Season. Its latest scary movie is titled simply “Abigail,” but fans will be jumping out of their seats plenty often when the movie debuts in theaters on Friday, April 19, despite the short moniker.
“Abigail” has compiled an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics so far. As a Universal film, “Abigail” will stream on Peacock when it leaves theaters. Universal horror releases like “The Black Phone” and “M3GAN” suggest it won’t take long for “Abigail” to stream on Peacock, but more recent releases tell a different tale. By all measures, Ziffren Brittenham senior partner Clifford Gilbert-Lurie has had a storied run as an entertainment attorney. Over the course of his four-decade-plus career, he has made big deals for a long list of loyal clients that have generated pages upon pages of headlines in the show business trades. For those professional accomplishments, along with his philanthropic efforts, he’s being honored with Variety’s Power of Law Award at a breakfast April 18 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.

When you think of Netflix documentaries, chances are you think of true crime. Retellings of horrific criminal events in which lives were irrevocably changed is big business, and so far this year, Netflix has continued to capitalize on that business. Back in February, the tale of online dating turning deadly in "Lover, Stalker, Killer" became a big hit, while March saw Dick Wolf's true crime series "Homicide: New York" chase "3 Body Problem" up the Netflix charts. Do we really know how trustworthy Netflix's viewing metrics are? Well, no, but still.
Sometimes, however, true crime doesn't quite satiate our thirst for deeply troubling entertainment, and when murder and mayhem aren't quite scratching the itch, there's always the paranormal. Enter "Files of the Unexplained." This latest Netflix docuseries hit the streamer on April 3 and, according to the official synopsis, chronicles "eerie encounters, bizarre disappearances, haunting events and more perplexing phenomena.

Exclusive: First in a series on broadcast network series renewals. NBC is well ahead of the game this season on the renewal-decision front, handing early pickups to freshman dramas Found and The Irrational as well as One Chicago, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu while canceling Quantum Leap, La Brea and Magnum Pi.

NBC’s Chicago Med will have new leadership heading into its 10th season.
Co-showrunners Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, who have been with the drama since it debuted in 2015, are stepping down at the end of the show’s current run. The married couple have helmed Med for nine seasons and more than 170 episodes to date. A new showrunner will be named later.
That’s an unusually long tenure for any series, let alone one hailing from Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment, which frequently shakes up operations both in front of and behind the camera. Frolov and Schneider came in ahead of Chicago Med’s series premiere, taking over for Andrew Dettman. In contrast, Med’s fellow Chicago series, Fire and Pd, have changed showrunners multiple times over the course of their runs.

The FBI universe remains a massive success story for CBS, and the network revealed some exciting news on Tuesday afternoon.
FBI, the flagship series, has scored an unprecedented three-season renewal, keeping it on the air through the 2026-2027 season.
Given its continued success, renewal was a no-brainer, but given the continued struggles broadcast TV has faced in recent years, multi-season renewals seemed out of the question for most shows.
But you can’t have FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted without the mothership.
It’s the glue that holds this universe together, and there’s a slim chance the two spinoffs will outlive it.
FBI Season 6 is currently averaging 9.1 million viewers (in Live+7 figures), making it Tuesday’s most-watched series.
FBI recently aired a tragic twist for Maggie
The series recently staged a Rookie Blue reunion that ended in tragedy and forever changed Maggie’s (Missy Peregrym) future.

There will be no leap to season three for NBC’s Quantum Leap.
The network has canceled the reboot of the 1989 series after a two-season run, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The series starring Raymond Lee wrapped its sophomore season in February and ranked as one of the broadcast network’s lowest-rated scripted originals.
Quantum Leap, which was produced in-house at Universal Television, earned a speedy season two renewal as NBC kept production going in a bid to have scripted originals during the writers and actors strikes.
The follow-up to the original series hailed from Martin Gero and Dean Georgaris, who exec-produced alongside Deborah Pratt, Chris Grismer and Alex Berger. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt developed the series and served as showrunners on the update.

Exclusive: NBC has decided not to proceed with a third season of its Quantum Leap reboot starring Raymond Lee. The news comes more than a month after the two-hour Season 2 finale aired Feb. 20.
The development is not entirely surprising as the series, from Universal Television, had been on the bubble. That is in contrast to last season when Quantum Leap received a very early renewal in December 2022.
A follow-up to the original series, which aired on NBC from 1989-93, Quantum Leap is set in present day. It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
In addition to Lee, the series stars Ernie Hudson, Caitlin Bassett, Mason Alexander Park and Nanrisa Lee.

Starting her career at the age of 16 with a self-titled album, Taylor Swift slowly established herself as one of the most well-known faces in the music industry. With ten albums under her credits, the record-breaking sales of the projects made her commercially successful with a whopping net worth of $1.1 billion.
The latest development states that Forbes added Swift to their list of billionaires for 2024. Despite her popularity among the public and her influence on pop culture, Swift might have to wait for some time to get the title of the richest musician. It currently belongs to Jay-Z, who stands on top of everyone along with Rihanna, whose net worth is $1.7 billion and known as the richest female musician.

The Chicago Fire cast added soap star Rome Flynn for Season 12.
Following the exit of Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), a new firefighter joined Firehouse 51.
Former boxer Jake Gibson became the new man at the house, but he had big shoes to fill. Gallo was a fan favorite and was integral to many storylines.
The writers made Gibson a troubled character who was rough around the edges and not excited about joining a “family” at Firehouse 51.
Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) tried to befriend him and got Gibson to open up (a bit), leading to some good episodes early in the season.
But then Gibson was absent for a week, suggesting he might be dealing with something in his personal life, and he was.

During Chicago Fire Season 12, Episode 8, Carver figures out that Gibson is dealing with an addiction. Viewers later see a scene where...

There will be a new firefighter sliding down the pole at Firehouse 51: Chicago Fire has added newcomer Michael Bradway to its Season 12 cast, our sister site Deadline reports, just days after cast member Rome Flynn left the NBC series.
Bradway will be making his TV debut as Jack Damon, a charming firefighter who will first appear in the current Season 12’s tenth episode. (Chicago Fire is already renewed for Season 13.) He’ll recur at first, with a possible promotion to series regular next season. Bradway, who also works as a model, has just a few short films on his acting résumé so far.
