Elon Musk’s X has implemented a default setting for user posts and interactions on the social media platform to be used to help train A.I. chatbot Grok.
“Allow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok to be used for training and fine-tuning,” the setting language reads.
The scheme does come with an option enabling users to opt out of the process, however.
While the default setting will automatically capture content for Grok, “all X users have the ability to control whether their public posts can be used to train Grok, the AI search assistant,” the company wrote Friday in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “This setting is available on the web platform and will soon be rolled out on mobile.”
Making accounts private can also prevent users’ material from being fed to Grok, the post noted.

Throughout its run, many famous science figures stopped by the set of The Big Bang Theory, which is notable among the science community for making subjects like physics and astronomy look cool. These figures included the likes of Bill Nye, Stephen Hawking, George Smoot, and Steve Wozniak, who all ended up having a brief cameo in the sitcom.
While it was common for scientists and physicists to pay a visit to the set of the acclaimed sitcom, things went south after one of them discovered actual uranium in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment.

Ozzy Osbourne blasted Kanye West on social media on Friday, claiming the rapper used a recording of a Black Sabbath song without Osbourne’s permission and against his will. The rapper ultimately released the Vultures song “Carnival” without the sample.
On Friday, Osbourne put the following message on his social media: “Kanye West asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of ‘Iron Man’ from the Us Festival without vocals & was refused permission because he is an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many,” the singer wrote in capital letters.

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus once said, “Change is the only constant in life.” The entertainment sector is no exception to this adage. It’s an industry that has long benefited from advancements in technology that have increasingly enriched the quality of films and programs and have also condensed the filmmaking process across the entire pipeline from pre-production to distribution and exhibition.
But while it’s easy to look back and see how digital tech has improved the sector, assessing the future of the business as it stands on the threshold of two hot button topics — Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Epic Games’ Unreal Engine — is much less clear.
AI has been increasingly polarizing, with Twitter owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak among more than 1,100 signatories of an open letter calling for a six-month moratorium on the development of advanced AI systems, citing “risks to society”. Meanwhile,...

While these generative Al models are designed to facilitate communication and provide helpful responses, experts have raised concerns that these pose great risks of hacking and data breaches that could compromise personal information.
A report by Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 showed recently that ChatGPT-related scams are surging and despite OpenAI (the creator of ChatGPT) giving users a free version of ChatGPT, scammers lead victims to fraudulent websites, claiming they need to pay for these services.
"They might collect and steal the input you provide. In other words, providing anything sensitive or confidential could put you in danger. The chatbot’s responses could also be manipulated to give you incorrect answers or misleading information," said researchers from Palo Alto Networks Unit 42.
The report observed an increase of 910 per cent in monthly registrations for domains related to ChatGPT between November 2022-April 2023.

New Delhi, April 18 (Ians) After slamming OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Elon Musk is now working on “TruthGPT,” a ChatGPT alternative that will act as a “maximum truth-seeking AI.” In an interview with Fox News, Musk said that an alternative approach to AI creation is needed to “avoid the destruction of humanity”.
“I’m going to start something which I call ‘TruthGPT’ or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” Musk was quoted as saying.
“And I think this might be the best path to safety in the sense that an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe,” the Twitter CEO added.
In February, Musk for the first time tweeted that what we need is a “TruthGPT.”

New Delhi, April 15 (Ians) Twitter CEO Elon Musk has created a new company called X.AI which will promote artificial intelligence (AI) in the ChatGPT era.
Incorporated in Nevada, Texas, the company has Musk as the only listed director, and Jared Birchall, director of Musk’s family office, as secretary, according to a filing.
X.AI has authorised the sale of 100 million shares for the privately held company, reports Wall Street Journal.
Musk aims to create an AI firm to take on Microsoft-backed OpenAI, the creator of the successful AI chatbot called ChatGPT.
Ironically, it was Musk who initially invested $100 million in OpenAI, but later exited the company.
In recent months, ChatGPT and Gpt-4 have become a rage worldwide.

A British radio and TV presenter has expressed the fear that his career will be rendered obsolete with the rise of ChatGPT, and the prospect of A.I. robots who will become better, funnier, cleverer, and at the fraction of the price of human beings on screen.
Greg James has been presenting the BBC’s Radio 1 youth-targeted Breakfast Show since 2018, and has recently made the move into TV, hosting a new reality show on Channel 4, Rise and Fall.
Striking a similar tone to a prescient interview David Bowie gave in 2000, giving advance notice of the good and the bad potential of the internet, something his interviewer seemingly scoffed at – and which is still often re-broadcast – James told the British press:
“I’ve got to be better than an A.I. That’s my challenge. It’s quite scary, how quickly things are moving but we can work with technology.

New Delhi, April 4 (Ians) As conversational artificial intelligence (AI) becomes a talking point on social media, representatives from Indian schools and experts on Tuesday expressed divisive concerns over children’s exposure to the AI chatbot in the classrooms.
Schools around the world have already banned ChatGPT, citing concerns that the AI tool which has been helping people write poems, essays and even work papers, can provide inaccurate information and enable cheating.
According to Nikita Tomar Mann, Principal at Indraprastha Global School in Noida, as amazing and fascinatingly incredible as it appears, “ChatGPT is still at a nascent stage” for us to fully comprehend its ramifications.
“Schools must keep it at bay for the time being, till such time we understand its need and utility at the school level,” Mann told Ians.
Children should rather be trained to be doing their own research, assimilate information, and construct their own knowledge out of it.

San Francisco, March 31 (Ians) Microsoft-owned OpenAI, the company that created AI chatbot ChatGPT, is facing a new complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) being asked to investigate the company and suspend its commercial deployment of large language models, including ChatGPT.
The nonprofit research group Center for AI and Digital Policy (Caidp) made public its complaint against OpenAI on Thursday, alleging the company violated Section 5 of the FTC Act, which prohibits unfair and deceptive business practices, reports CNBC.
According to Caidp, Gpt-4 is “biased, deceptive, and a risk to privacy and public safety”.
Moreover, the AI policy group said the large language model fails to meet the agency’s standards for AI to be “transparent, explainable, fair, and empirically sound while fostering accountability”, according to the report.
The group is asking the FTC to require OpenAI to establish an independent assessment of Gpt products before they are deployed in the future.

Before he was a household name, Seth Rogen was really determined to become one. Back when his only notable role was as Ken Miller in the cult hit "Freaks and Geeks," the up-and-coming actor had big ambitions to take over Hollywood -- if only so that, as he told Vanity Fair in 2012, he could "get girls to sleep with [him]". In fact, before he gained major fame for his role in early 2000s Judd Apatow comedies, Rogen said he was "incredibly angry and repressed," despite his reputation as a down-to-earth, slightly sarcastic nice guy.
Clearly the young Canadian had something to prove, and Apatow had taken notice. The soon-to-be king of blockbuster comedy was planning his takeover of the genre and was going to bring Rogen along for the ride if it killed him. As "Freaks" writer J. Elvis Weinstein put it, Apatow was seemingly on "a mission to make this kid a star.

These days, Seth Rogen is showing up in Steven Spielberg movies and posting pictures of his pottery on Twitter. But back in the early-2000s, he had a near-legendary run appearing in Judd Apatow comedies, which truly jump-started his career. After his supporting role alongside Steve Carell in Apatow's 2005 effort "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," Rogen took on the starring role in the director's next project: the romantic comedy "Knocked Up."
Playing Ben Stone, the lovable stoner with a slacker mentality, the actor was described by Peter Sciretta in /Film's original "Knocked Up" review, as someone who "reminds me of a lot of my friends." Scenes with Ben and his band of layabout buddies feel like you're watching actual friends hanging out and busting balls. With "The Fabelmans," which our review called "One of Steven Spielberg's warmest, most autobiographical films," the revered filmmaker now has a movie about his own origin story. Considering what the filmmaker has accomplished in the industry in more than half a century, it's fitting. But unlike superhero origin stories, there are no villains in this one, though that role could have easily been filled by Seth Rogen's character.
In the movie — which Spielberg directed and co-wrote with longtime collaborator Tony Kushner — Rogen plays Bennie, an honorary uncle to Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel Labelle), a Jewish boy based on Spielberg who grows up in post-World War II America with dreams of becoming a filmmaker. Sammy discovers that his mother, Mitzi (Michelle Williams), has an affair, cheating on his workaholic father, Burt (Paul Dano), with Bennie.

In the TV and film industry, "typecasting" refers to when an actor is consistently given the same kinds of roles. Sometimes, all it takes is a single memorable role for an actor to be cast as a similar character on a regular basis. It can often be a source of frustration for actors who want to branch out and demonstrate their versatility by playing a wide range of characters but are stuck with a label that prevents them from doing so. However, some actors seem to have no problems being constantly cast as the "mad scientist," the "loveable dufus," the "strong silent hero," or another type. After all, a regular paycheck is a regular paycheck.
Some actors have been lucky enough to make a successful career out of sticking to a certain genre only to branch out into roles completely unlike their previous work — often to critical acclaim. Here, we...

Steve Wozniak went up against the real-life "Molly's Game" ringleader, but the look on his face says it all ... he can win the pot like the best of 'em. The Woz and Molly Bloom spoke at the cryptocurrency convention, ChainXChange, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, but had a meeting of the poker minds backstage before going onstage. If you're unfamiliar with Molly ... she's a badass. Molly's the inspiration for Aaron Sorkin's first film as a director.

See if you can identify the following people: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, Mark Porat.
If you puzzled over the last name, don't feel bad. Porat was the founder of a technology company called General Magic, which you also probably haven't heard of despite it once being described in Forbes magazine as "the most important dead company in Silicon Valley." Matthew Maude and Sarah Kerruish's documentary General Magic, receiving its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, provides a compelling history of a company that created a groundbreaking product that was unfortunately ahead of its time.

With the fifth season of “Silicon Valley” in full swing, it only felt right to have Zach Woods swing by TheWrap HQ once again — and we had a lot to ask him.
Woods has turned Jared Dunn — the straight-laced financial guru of “Pied Piper” with a penchant for revealing the most shocking details about his character’s murky background — into a fan favorite. (Just last week, we find out Jared’s stepmom wouldn’t let him eat pizza as a kid because “Italians aren’t real white people.”) But does Woods, who spends his time pretending to be a budding tech exec, envy anything about real-life startup employees? Not really, it turns out.
We tackled plenty more with Woods, including:
Also Read: Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Dumps Facebook
– Playing “F—, Marry, Kill” with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
– Why “Hard Knocks” is one of his favorite HBO shows, even though he doesn’t give a damn about football.
– Not recognizing Tesla and SpaceX head honcho Elon Musk when he first met him — and what perturbed the entrepreneur about “Silicon Valley’s” caricature of Silicon Valley.
Also Read: Elon Musk Just Sold $3.5 Million Worth of Flamethrowers
There’s plenty more, too, so check out the rest of our interview.
“Silicon Valley” airs on HBO on Sunday at 10 pm Est. The series was just renewed for its sixth season earlier this week.

Actress and activist Susan Sarandon has joined the growing list of celebrities and public figures abandoning Facebook in the wake of its privacy scandal.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Congress this week that there has been no “dramatic fall-off” of users after the Cambridge Analytica revelations. But there certainly have been prominent defections, including Cher, Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey and Rosie O’Donnell.
Sarandon tweeted her discontent today, which she attributed to censorship. She also posted to Instagram, a platform that’s owned by Facebook.

As Facebook continues to spend time under the microscope, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has become the latest tech titan to dissect the social network’s flaws.
According to a report in USA Today, “Woz” has become the latest member of the #DeleteFacebook movement.
“Users provide every detail of their life to Facebook and … Facebook makes a lot of advertising money off this,” Wozniak wrote in an email to the newspaper. “The profits are all based on the user’s info, but the users get none of the profits back.”
Elon Musk took the plunge last month in the wake of revelations of a sizable data breach that resulted from an affiliation with research firm Cambridge Analytica. Initially, it was reported that personal information for 50 million Facebook users had been compromised — the number was then adjusted upward to 87 million. Marking World Water Day, One Drop, the international foundation created by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté to bring safe water access to people across the globe, is proud to report that its signature fundraising event, One Night for One Drop imagined by Cirque du Soleil, has surpassed the $35 million goal it set for itself when the event inaugurated in 2013.
Presented by MGM Resorts International, the sixth edition of One Night for One Drop was held on Friday, March 2, when some of the biggest names in entertainment came together inside the Michael Jackson One Theatre at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, for this year’s one-night-only production inspired by the life of Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jewel. The sold-out performance and its gala celebration catapulted One Drop past its original fundraising goal.
Highlights from the show included Jewel’s beautiful hit songs. An unforgettable opening with Arab’s Got Talent winner Emanne Beasha.

This article contains more Ready Player One spoilers than a Nintendo Player’s Guide walkthrough.
Ready Player One is now out on Blu-ray and HBO, and fans are basking in all of its easter egg glory. While Steven Spielberg was able to infuse a creative spark into the film that allowed it to stand on more than only pure nostalgia, there is no denying that the immediate hook of Ernest Cline’s novel and the subsequent Spielberg blockbuster is its cornucopia of movie references, video game easter eggs, and pop culture homages to all things ‘80s. The film might be set in 2045, but it’s good to know that the future is just as obsessed with Gen-x and Millennial culture as we are today!

Memory is a funny thing. Rather than the fixed viewpoint we expect it to be, memories are malleable objects. Their shapes changed over time, exact details fading away replaced with approximations. But what we remember with sharp clarity is how we felt. TV shows, films music and books can fuel our nostalgia and bring us back to cosier simple times.
It’s the cracks between memories that Mr Biffo’s/Paul Rose Found Footage resides in; a web sketch show that mixes in genuine VHS footage with surreal sketches that play with memory and nostalgia. It’s easy to look at AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” going into its fourth and final season as a completely different show than the one that premiered in 2015. The drama series about technology gurus in the early days of the 1980s computer boom initially told a story about two colleagues — Joe MacMillan (Lee Pace) and Gordon Clark (Scoot McNairy) — who were engaged in a Steve Jobs vs. Steve Wozniak style relationship. Working to create an Ibm competitor, the two clashed on producing hardware and how to market the products. Season 2, however, presented a dramatic shift. Joe and...

James Franco and Seth Rogen have been friends and colleagues for a long time now, starting with a different 90's teen series, Freak and Geeks, back in 1999. Since then, they have appeared in countless films together, including what I consider the "Rogen/Franco Trilogy" made up of Pineapple Express, This Is The End, and The Interview; all about the undying bromance between the two on-screen stoners. This doesn't count the many cameos the two have enjoyed in the other's projects and the upcoming, well reviewed, The Disaster Artist.
And that's just acting! Both have experience behind the camera, with Franco directing The Disaster Artist, the documentary Saturday Night, and an episode of the Hulu show he starred in, Stephen King's 11.22.63. Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg have also directed films and TV, from The Interview and This Is The End, to three episodes of AMC's Preacher. Rogen...

Canada’s own Seth Rogen has become pretty prolific in the industry these past couple years, with at least one new movie released every year. This month he’s got another movie hitting theatres with Sausage Party.
We don’t know about you, but Sausage Party is one of our most anticipated movies of the summer. There have been lots of good animation movies recently, but this is a little different. It’s not often that we see an animated movie aimed at adults, and Sausage Party certainly isn’t targeted towards kids.
If you haven’t watched the hilariously outrageous trailer, the plot follows a hot dog weiner (voiced by Rogen) who discovers the horrors of the world outside the grocery store and strives to let his food companions know the truth. Literally everybody is in this,...

On July 15, 1996, IndieWire launched as an e-mail newsletter providing “the daily news service for independent film.” (See the first newsletter here.) The original iteration of the site was the brainchild of Cheri Barner, Eugene Hernandez and Mark Rabinowitz, three recent college students obsessed with the movies. In the ensuing years, IndieWire grew and changed hands many times over. Barner now works as a talent manager in Los Angeles, Hernandez is the deputy director of the Film Society Lincoln Center, and Rabinowitz is a freelance publicist, consultant and programmer.
But they have remained a part of our close-knit community. As IndieWire arrives at its 20th anniversary, the trio gathered together for their first joint interview to recall the early days of IndieWire — as well as the thriving American independent film scene that inspired the publication.

We took a road trip up to San Jose last weekend to check out the first ever Silicon Valley Comic Con. This was Steve Wozniak (of Apple fame) & Stan Lee’s venture. As we should have guessed by the location alone, this wasn’t the kind of con we’re used to. It was nerd on nerd (tech meets comics) and way more male-centric than the cons we usually go to. There were some great guests though like Nathan Fillion, Jeremy Renner, William Shatner, and a Back To The Future reunion. Watch the video to see how it all went down.
Also, interesting to note, there were far fewer Deadpools (our count was barely in the double digits) and instead Marty McFly & Spider Man cosplay were every where we turned. And also we only saw one Spider Gwen, but tons of girls wearing Spider Man and Spider-Woman costumes. This says something about SoCal vs.
