Exclusive: Amanda Peet (Dirty John) is set as a lead opposite Jon Hamm in Your Friends and Neighbors, Apple TV+’s upcoming drama series from Warrior creator Jonathan Tropper and Apple Studios. Craig Gillespie (Physical) is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce.
Based on an original idea by Tropper, Your Friends and Neighbors stars Hamm as Coop, a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb in order to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat. These petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time.
In addition to Hamm, Peet, whose role is being kept under wraps, joins previously cast Olivia Munn.

Reina Hardesty (The Secret Art of Human Flight) has joined the cast of Prime Video’s Butterfly opposite Daniel Dae Kim.
Hardesty will portray Rebecca, a charismatic, unpredictable assassin. Orphaned (or so she thought) at the age of 13, she learned to cope with her pain and loneliness by distancing herself from difficult emotions, applying a mental tourniquet to the part of her that held love and empathy. Over time, she’s developed a hard shell, which is a very useful trait in her line of work. But Rebecca isn’t a grizzled, stoic hitman. She’s shiny and charming and fun to watch, leaping to life with every hit of adrenaline.
The six-episode series is described as a character-driven spy thriller that explores complex family dynamics within the treacherous world of global espionage. Butterfly is based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series created by Arash Amel, written by Amel and Marguerite Bennett,...

Comedy, as it turns out, is quite subjective. Folks have some strong opinions about what does and does not make them laugh. Thankfully, strong opinions are exactly what we’re looking for.
The 21st century has been particularly kind to comedy on TV, so we wanted to honor that with not one but two lists of the best comedy TV shows of 2000s. Below you can find our choices for the best American shows (and a Canadian show or two popular enough with American audiences to be considered eligible). You can find our choices for the best British TV comedy shows over here.
Bear in mind that only shows that premiered in the year 2000 or later are included, which explains why some popular shows that began in the ’90s but lingered into the aughts aren’t here. Now let us know your strong comedic opinions in the comments.

Hank Azaria and Hari Kondabolu are finally getting a chance to have a public conversation about the latter’s documentary The Problem With Apu.
During an episode of NPR’s podcast Code Switch, Azaria joined Kondabolu to discuss the comedian and writer’s 2017 project that criticized the Simpsons character Apu Nahasapeemapetilon as a South Asian stereotype and called out the fact that a white actor voiced him. Azaria had voiced the Kwik-e-Mart employee since the long-running comedy’s first season before announcing in early 2020 that he would no longer portray the character. The show has not recast the role.
Kondabolu told Azaria that he had wanted to have him appear in the truTV documentary in the hopes that this would discourage angry reactions to the film, in addition to giving the discussion closure. Kondabolu recalled feeling upset when the actor opted against appearing in The Problem With Apu, which Kondabolu wrote and Michael Melamedoff directed.

Starz’s cult comedy Party Down finally returned to screens with the premiere of its highly anticipated third season. But when the season opener kicked off, the catering crew was short one sizable leading character.
While actress Lizzy Caplan’s absence wasn’t a surprise (scheduling conflicts with FX’s Fleishman Is in Trouble and Paramount+’s upcoming Fatal Attraction prevented her from taking part), it did leave the question of how the series would write off the show’s aspiring and struggling actress/comedian Casey Klein. In the age of revival television, it is still genuinely hard to believe that Starz is bringing the cult comedy favorite "Party Down" back for a long (long!) awaited third season, but it is indeed happening. As evidence of that, we have a brand new trailer for the new batch of episodes, which will be arriving via the premium cable channel next month. And yes, most of the original cast is back! Sadly, Lizzy Caplan isn't here as Casey Klein for another round of "will they, won't they" with Adam Scott's Henry Pollard. Be that as it may, it very much looks like the show folks like myself fell in love with. And in the third season...

All the cater-waiters of "Party Down" might not be having fun yet, but fans of the show can't wait for their return in the upcoming revival. The original series aired for only two seasons on Starz from 2009-2010. Watching these misanthropes bide their time working at the titular catering company while trying to find their big breaks in Hollywood is a true joy: The show is absolutely hysterical, with unforgettable characters and a surprising amount of heart. I've lost count of how many times I've watched those first two seasons.
Fans were crushed when the series got the axe so quickly, and there was talk of a "Party Down" film for a time, but sadly, that never materialized. Considering the fact that this cast has been super busy with other projects in the years since, it's pretty miraculous that they are able to don their pink bow ties once more.

Starz has set new cast additions for its upcoming Party Down revival. Jennifer Garner (Yes Day), Tyrel Jackson Williams (Brockmire) and Zoë Chao (The Afterparty) have been tapped as series regulars and James Marsden (Dead to Me) has signed on for a key recurring role in the new iteration of the cult comedy.
They join original stars Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen and Megan Mullally who are all returning for the six-episode new season. (The only original cast member not coming back is Lizzy Caplan who had a scheduling conflict.)
Like the original series, the new Party Down installment follows a Los Angeles catering team – a sextet of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their “big break.” Each episode finds the hapless catering team working a new event – and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful guests and their absurd lives.

Sports stories have traditionally belonged to the movies. Something about the rhythms of competition, in which an athlete or team trains, plays, and then either wins or loses, is a natural fit for the film world’s three act structure.
Television, with its multiple episodes and seasons, is often more discursive and therefore less viable for truly great sports stories. Thankfully, that all seems poised to change. While some sports TV shows have found success in the past, now the medium has really kicked things up a notch. Sports stories like Brockmire, Ted Lasso, Cobra Kai, and more are not only welcome on television, but an essential part of the cable and streaming landscape.
