(Updated with more details) The Vice President is no longer heading to late-night.
VP Kamala Harris was set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tomorrow night (Tuesday April 16).
However, her appearance has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. Though the VP did end up flying back into LA from her quick trip to Las Vegas today, and not going to DC, no reason for Harris’ absence from the ABC late nighter was given.
However, the White House has announced that the Vice President “will participate in a campaign event” later in the day on Tuesday. Kimmel usually films that night’s show in the late afternoon — which is around the same time the Veep’s campaign event appears to be occurring.
If Harris had appeared on Kimmel on Tuesday, it would have been her second appearance on the ABC show. The past California Senator previously sat...

Set in the summer of 1986, The 4:30 Movie is a coming-of-age story about three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local multiplex. But when one of the guys also invites the girl of his dreams (Siena Agudong) to see the latest comedy, each of the teens will learn something serious about life and love before the credits roll.
Set in the mobile phoneless, social media-free era of the ’80s, Smith shot The 4:30 Movie at his Smodcastle Cinemas in New Jersey—the same movie theater he haunted every weekend as a teenager. Two years ago, Smith and his co-owners saved the century-old Atlantic Highlands bijou from demolition, renaming it after his podcast theater.

Death takes many forms and in director Daina O. Pusić’s Tuesday, it comes in the form of a talking bird. A24’s official trailer shows 11-time Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a mother caring for her ill daughter while both attempt to come to terms with impending loss.
Lola Petticrew, Leah Harvey, and Arinzé Kene also star in the fantasy drama/comedy.
“Death makes Life worth living. Love makes loss worth bearing,” reads A24’s description. “A mother and her teenage daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird. From debut filmmaker Daina O. Pusić, Tuesday is a heart-rending fairy tale about the echoes of loss and finding resilience in the unexpected.”
The film currently sits at 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after premiering at the Telluride Film Festival. A24 hasn’t confirmed a premiere date, but is targeting a summer 2024 theatrical release.

A24 has released a trailer for its upcoming emotional drama, “Tuesday,” which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) and Lola Petticrew.
The film premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on Sept. 1 and is expected to release sometime this summer.
Louis-Dreyfus plays a loving, caring mother to a terminally ill teenage daughter (Petticrew). The two have a powerful bond, and early scenes of the “Tuesday” trailer show how they’ve embraced their circumstances with joy and humor, undaunted by the looming specter of death.
That changes when the daughter is literally confronted by death manifested in the form of a talking bird. As the story unfolds, the mother must learn to make her peace with and accept the brevity of her daughter’s time on Earth in an emotionally devastating drama about the echoes of loss and finding resilience in the unexpected.
Rounding out the cast is British actor and playwright Arinzé Kene.

Just when we thought we'd seen the last of Kelli Giddish as Rollins, there's some exciting news.
Giddish has closed a deal to return for the Law & Order: Svu Season 25 premiere.
In true Law & Order fashion, details are classified, so we can only speculate what might bring her back into the team's orbit.
Of course, Rollins is still very much in a relationship with Carisi, and the last time we saw her on Law & Order: Svu Season 24 Episode 22, she was pregnant with his child.
Giddish was written out of the series last season, with reports emerging that it wasn't of her own volition, suggesting she was let go as part of cost-saving measures.
Many broadcast shows -- even the highly rated ones! -- are struggling with diminished returns, which is making the networks and studios make some decisions that don't benefit the story.

Apple TV+ is shifting up its rollout strategy for Slow Horses Season 3, and it means we'll be getting new episodes sooner.
As revealed Tuesday morning, the highly-anticipated next chapter of the Gary Oldman drama will now premiere on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
It was previously revealed that new episodes would air beginning December 1, 2023, so we're getting them two days earlier.
Apple TV+ has been experimenting with rolling out shows earlier in the week, and it worked very well for Ted Lasso Season 3, so we're inclined to believe this will be a good thing for this hit drama series.

A raucous comedy from playwright Camilla Whitehill, “Big Mood” teams “Bridgerton” and “Derry Girls” alum Nicola Coughlan with ‘It’s a Sin’ star Lydia West to dive headlong into mental illness and friendship. Fremantle, heading global distribution, will showcase the project in Cannes as part of its Mipcom slate. The market kicks off Oct.16.
A divinely sardonic and captivating laugh riot, the upcoming Channel 4 series presents an earnest portrait of mania and biologically-induced despair in a world where mental health has been commodified and sanitized for ease of consumption. Whitehill manages a highly nuanced depiction of Coughlan’s Maggie, whose bipolar pendulum swings erratically, as she tries desperately to regain control of her fleeting agency while clinging tightly to longtime friend Eddie, played by West.
“We’ve done a lot of patting ourselves on the back as a society, saying, ‘We’re really facing mental health,’ but we’re not.

For the love of jive, look what’s back on ABC!
For a minute, it didn’t look as if the mirror ball would return home on time. The ongoing strike and the preponderance of picketers had the network flirting with the possibility of postponing tonight’s season 32 premiere of Dancing with the Stars. But a deal was finally hammered out on Sunday and earlier this evening, the WGA declared the strike would officially end at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. What better way to celebrate than watching a bunch of celebs break out in dance?
But before the competition can begin, the cast paid tribute to the late Len Goodman — who now has a Mirror Ball trophy named after him! Goodman, DWTS‘ former head judge, died in April at 78.

With a tentative deal reached between writers and the studios and streamers, ABC has decided to move forward with its premiere of the 32nd season of Dancing With the Stars.
As of late last week, ABC was considering delaying the return of the veteran reality dance competition after strikers picketed outside the show’s rehearsal spaces and one of the show’s contestants, Matt Walsh (Veep), said he would “pause” his involvement with the series.
On Monday, ABC announced the show will return as scheduled on Tuesday at 8 p.m. (with Walsh included), with the season also airing live on Disney+ and being made available the next day on Hulu.
On Sunday, the Writers Guild of America announced it had reached a tentative deal with the studios on a new contract that would resolve the historic 146-day strike. The deal still needs to be ratified by WGA members to take effect.

The collectible makers at Funko have created a large line of Pop figures based on Hocus Pocus 2. There are, of course, all three Sanderson sisters, but also the new characters Cassie, Becca, Izzy, and Gilbert. Surprisingly, a new Billy Butcherson figure isn’t in the line-up. But there is The Witch Mother – and while the other Hocus Pocus 2 POPs will be available wherever POPs are sold, the Witch Mother figure will only be available through the Funko website. So if you want to get your hands on this one, head over to Funko.com before all the Witch Mother figures are sold!
ThatHashtagShow informs, “The Witch Mother plays a brief but significant role in the Disney feature Hocus Pocus 2. The character, portrayed by Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, meets the Sanderson sisters when they’re still children. Sensing witchy potential in young Winifred, the Witch Mother gives the sisters their iconic spellbook.

While Quinta Brunson already receives a lot of credit for the success of “Abbott Elementary,” having become the second Black woman to ever win the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series last year, not enough esteem is given to her acting performance as protagonist Janine Teagues.
Such is the case with the majority of women who star in the television comedies they have created. Though the last couple decades have seen more and more shows with more and more women wearing more and more hats, since 2000 only Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) have won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for a role they wrote themselves. While on the men’s side of things, half of the last 10 Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series were given to someone who functions as both creator and star of their show.

A few months ago, we heard that The CW had picked up the U.S. rights to the TV series adaptation of author Frank Schätzing’s apocalyptic sci-fi novel The Swarm (you can pick up a copy at This Link). Now Deadline has revealed that The Swarm is set to begin airing on The CW at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on Tuesday, September 12th. A trailer for the show can be seen in the embed above.
The Swarm, not to be confused with the Donald Glover / Prime Video series Swarm, has been a long time coming. In 2006, Uma Thurman and producers Michael Souvignier, Ica Souvignier, and Till Grönemeyer acquired the film rights, with The Silence of the Lambs screenwriter Ted Tally handling the adaptation and Dino De Laurentiis on board to help finance the film. But it didn’t make it into production. In 2018, it was announced that Game of Thrones...

The star of Seinfeld, Veep and new film You Hurt My Feelings has barely put a foot wrong in her 40-year career. She discusses juggling parenting and working, dark days on SNL – and celebrating older women
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Nicole Holofcener trusted each other immediately. In the early 2010s, they met to discuss whether Louis-Dreyfus would star in the indie director’s next film, the offbeat romantic comedy Enough Said. “We got along so well that I was kind of baffled we hadn’t met until then,” says Louis‑Dreyfus. She signed up.
At the first table read, Holofcener remembers her horseplay with the actor who played Seinfeld’s infamous Elaine Benes all but overshadowing the co-lead, James Gandolfini: “We could finish each other’s sentences – she so got the materials, she so got me. She would jump in with ideas that were generally fantastic. And we would laugh until we peed.

To celebrate the release of Nicole Holofcener’s beautifully observed new comedy You Hurt My Feelings, I spoke to Iranian American actor Arian Moayed about playing an actor in the midst of a crisis of confidence.
You Hurt My Feelings is a movie about trust, lies, and the things we say to the people we love most. It is led by multi-award-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), and also stars Tobias Menzies (The Crown), Arian Moayed (Succession), David Cross (Arrested Development), Sunita Mani (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Jeannie Berlin (The Fabelmans).
Moayed spoke to us about his hankering for the heydays of indie comedies in the 90s. We also chatted about his brilliant portrayal of the duplicitous Stewy in the award winning show Succession and how much he enjoyed playing a villain for a change.Elsewhere, we also spoke about how he managed to avoid typecasting in Hollywood and his...

The category itself has gone by various names, starting with Best Comedy Show and rolling through Best Comedy Series, Outstanding Program Achievement in the Field of Humor, Outstanding Program Achievement in the Field of Comedy to the current Outstanding Comedy Series. But the yuks have remained constant, whether it’s Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance trying to keep up with the conveyor belt at the chocolate factory or Jason Sudeikis Yank-coaching an English football club.

In the comedy Emmys race, voters have to choose. Yes, on a literal level, they’ll have to choose between Abbott Elementary and The Bear and Barry and Ted Lasso as well as others. But there’s also a more existential choice on the table: a choice between optimism and cynicism.
On one hand, shows like Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso and ABC’s Abbott Elementary are about the essential goodness of people. In the former, nearly all the stuffy Brits have come around to the inspirational messaging of the coach from Kansas; in the latter, Philadelphia teachers are caring for kids and one another while trying to fend off an encroaching charter school that would make public education less equitable.
But then, on the other hand, you have HBO/Max’s Barry, which proved in its final season to be more convinced than ever that humans are rotten to the core.
