We’re back with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature has first details on multiple projects including Night of the Living Deb, The Broadcast, Dial 9 to Get Out, and House of Forbidden Secrets, a monster themed giveaway from The Hub’s Spooksville, artwork from The Walking Dead Tribute, trailers for Infliction and Damned Love, and much more:
Night of the Living Deb Casting News: “Night of the Living Deb is an indie movie in development from producer Kyle Rankin (Battle of Shaker Heights, Infestation). Attached actors include David Krumholtz (“Numb3rs,” This is the End, Ray), Michael Cassidy (Argo, “Men at Work,” “The Oc”), Ray Wise (“Twin Peaks,” “Reaper,” “Mad Men”).

We recently told you about the upcoming directorial debut of Martin Owen, which has been described as "a biting social satire of reality television." Titled L.A. Slasher, the film centers on a killer who targets reality TV stars - the kinds of 'celebrities' that have achieved fame and notoriety thanks to their oftentimes reprehensible actions, like starring in sex tapes and being terrible parents.
I think it's safe to say that most of you reading this right now are probably sick and tired of reality TV, and the way that it has turned nobodies into somebodies, and L.A. Slasher is tailor made for those who are, serving as a bloody indictment of our obsession with pseudo celebrities.
Today we've got the reveal of a brand new poster for ya, which you can check out below!

Reality TV has long been a thorn in our sides. No matter how you slice it, there's no reason for the cast of "Honey BooBoo" or "Duck Dynasty" to be celebrities, and while we are at it... who gives a shit what the real housewives of wherever are fighting about now? It's about time someone took this kind of nonsense to task!
Even cooler? Our own Sean Decker co-produced, and the film features cameos by Ashlynn Yennie (The Human Centipede), Barbara Nedeljakova (Hostel), Carlee Baker (Lucky McKee's The Woman), and Allison Kyler (Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2).

Dread Central hopped a flight to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday, October 3, in order to cover the opening of the haunt attraction Fright Dome at Adventuredome at Circus Circus, and we came back with not only a celebrity-filled gallery from the black carpet but also a report!
Arriving to the gusty Fright Dome carpet, we were beset by a menagerie of scare actors hired by Fright Dome creator and owner Jason Egan, who in true Tod Browning fashion had employed (among the requisite clowns and chainsaw-wielding madmen) individuals with actual physical anomalies, which were accentuated by entirely professional makeups. In addition to the duo of Johnny Eck-like young women with truncated torsos (who were made up as zombies and dashed about the carpet using their hands as locomotion), another actor sported a gruesome facial makeup which served to highlight his entirely empty optical orb (the result of sinus cancer,...

Holla II is set to be released theatrically Stateside via Rockstone Releasing on April 19th, 2013, on 50-100 screens before rolling out to more two weeks later.

This writer is imploring you, our tightly-knit horror community, as we approach October – our month of months – to unite for a good cause: supporting Los Angeles women battling breast cancer by contributing to the Bowling for Boobies campaign.
For the past several years I've been involved directly with Bowling for Boobies (a non-profit fundraiser which provides monetary assistance to L.A. women who are experiencing financial challenges as the result of fighting and living with breast cancer). It's been a vastly rewarding experience as donations go directly to someone struggling with this deadly disease.
This year we're at it again with the 8th Annual Bowling for Boobies, which culminates on Sunday, October 21st, in Los Angeles at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City Walk with a red carpet followed by an evening of knocking down some pins with The Horror Starlets bowling team, which is comprised this year of myself...

Stepping onto the set of writer/director H.M. Coakley’s horror whodunit Hollaback last year on December 18th, the first few things that became readily apparent were the blood trail which serpentined across the wood flooring of the 130-year-old Los Angeles Antebellum mansion (doubling for the deep South) and the flick’s ‘token white chick,’ who came in the form of actress Allison Kyler. The third was the abundance of enthusiasm for the production which was mirrored by cast and crew alike.
Arriving to set on day eleven of fifteen and greeted by Hollaback associate producer and casting director Venk Modur, we conducted the majority of our hushed interviews against the aural backdrop of screams and whimpering as writer and director Coakley led his cast through the film’s scripted carnage.
“It is a sequel,” said Modur of Hollaback, which serves as a follow-up to filmmaker Coakley’s 2006 feature Holla...

This writer and Dread Central's The Horror Starlets took part this past Sunday, October 23rd, in the seventh annual non-profit Bowling for Boobies Los Angeles breast cancer charity event, and we wish to thank those in the horror community and beyond who so generously donated to this wonderful cause. We couldn’t do it every year without you!
Culminating at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles, California, with a pink carpet, a night of bowling, and the paparazzi snapping away (see our photo gallery by Geza Decsy below), the charity - run by founder Stephanie Lahart of the Busted Foundation - raised over $100,000 with our team (who received an award this year for ‘Biggest Balls’ for ‘Most Money Raised the Fastest’) contributing nearly $14K of that total. As they do each year, the proceeds will directly benefit local Los Angeles women battling breast cancer.

I should start off this review by saying that I really am a big fan of the first Laid To Rest. Something about Rob Hall’s little indie slasher flick struck a chord with me. It was this out of the way movie that had somehow assembled this amazing cast. As I watched it, I remember falling in love with the premise and every character, so much that I was getting pissed when they were killed off, but at the same time, I Loved how they were getting offed. The first Laid To Rest sits proudly on my dvd shelf as something I like to pull down and share with friends who have never heard of it.
So, it’s fair to say, that my expectations going in to Chromeskull: Laid To Rest 2 were pretty damn high. From here on out, you should keep...

Remember back when you was a kid growing up and how you would look forward to the next installment of either A Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th starring two iconic horror film villains in the form of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees? Me personally, as a kid, I saw horror thrive, I saw it die out and I saw it come back to life with Scream. I remember as a kid getting excited over such horror films as Popcorn, The Gate II: Trespassers, Ghost in the Machine, Night of the Demons 2, Prom Night III: The Last Kiss, Waxwork, ....heck even stuff like Jack O got me excited. I guess it started back when I was a kid. I was always taking note of whatever horror film was coming out and making sure I knew when it was going to hit video (our theater only played two movies,...
