Interview with Actor Justin Berti – Read about His Latest Movies and His Advice on Yoga Practice
Image
In time for the release of the movie ‘Divorce Bait‘ we have interviewed Justin Berti. Read about his role in the comedy movie and the wise advice on stretching:

I would like to start off, if you don’t mind, and having read your bio, by asking you about something that is not related to movies – we will get to that part for sure – I am curious, who gave you the nickname ‘The Yoganator’?

I gave myself that nickname. I was hired as a yoga instructor at a dance studio in Tokyo, Japan. For the studio opening, each teacher needed to do a performance to show off their classes. I came out fully dressed in a white jacket and white jeans with two yoga mats attached to my back, Bono-like sunglasses, and resistance bands in my hands, and I moved like a robot to the theme song of the movie The Terminator.

LatinoBuzz: All Eyes on Hispanicize – Film Lineup Announced
Next week in Miami, hundreds of bloggers, marketers, corporate brand reps, music and film artists will be checking in at the Eden Roc Hotel to attend Hispanicize, a social media platform for today’s Latino innovators. Now in its 4th year, the marketing, interactive, film and music conference was founded by Manny Ruiz, a PR businessman who adopted the term Hispanicize to signify the transformation and growing impact of Latino culture into traditional American mainstream and who created this convergence to amplify the success of diverse voices in social media.

In part modeled after SXSW and Ted Talks, Hispanicize aims to be a digital multi-media launchpad and idea stimulating conference tailored towards Latinos. The event’s core journalistic DNA is confirmed by guest co-chair, Soledad O Brien, who just signed off on her morning CNN show capping off a decade of reporting for the news outlet. For the second year the South Beach setting will host yacht parties, beachside receptions, breakfast and lunch networking, and 100 plus talks, featuring such entrepreneurs in social media like the Latina Mom Bloggers, panels like How Brands and Agencies are Engaging and Collaborating with Latino Bloggers and Getting on Corporate Boards. The heavily sponsored event, (Procter & Gamble is the presenting sponsor) will include a Diversity Tech Leaders Summit presented by Sprint in which the lesser-known business stories of diverse tech and social media entrepreneurs who are making their marks in digital media will be highlighted.

I have to admit I knew nothing of Hispanicize up until a couple months ago. Curious, I went on the website and I found the lingo a tad superfluous and hyperbolic. Words like iconic and mighty are used to describe the young but clearly flourishing event. Then again, this kind of grandiose speak is typical Public Relations so it makes sense given it is a partnership with Hispanic Public Relations Association (Hpra) and the Public Relations Society of America (Prsa).

I reached out to the founder Manny Ruiz to find out more about the mission of the event and found his enthusiasm and excitement for what he considers a pioneering movement infectious. It’s hard to argue that this mass tech and entertainment crossroads gathering makes for an incredible networking opportunity. Ruiz called it a “Uniting of these industries to create a symphony” and went on to note it is much more powerful for bloggers to converge at the same place with journalists, marketers, digital, music and film innovators then if you had them out there individually and remotely. Before I knew it I was put in touch with with Roman Morales, the Film Showcase Organizer and I came onboard as Programmer for the film component. A big reason I stepped in was because I was particularly attracted to presenting Us independent Latino films to an audience heavy with social media influence and bloggers, to see if it would indeed create a higher level of buzz, publicity and exposure from the community.

Along with a special screening of Filly Brown days before its national theatrical release, this year Hispanicize will screen six features including the high profile sneak preview of The Weinstein Company’s Aftershock, the horror comedy produced and starring Eli Roth, directed by Chilean filmmaker Nicolas Lopez (Que Pena tu Vida, Promedio Rojo). Also, straight from SXSW the music industry and character-driven documentary Los Wild Ones about the Wild Records label and family of Mexican rockabilly acts. With the exception of Aftershock, all the films reflect a taste of the diaspora of unique, bi-cultural Us narratives, and notably are all first features. Three of the films, Blaze You Out, Filly Brown and Mission Park are being distributed by Lionsgate labels Pantelion and Grindstone Entertainment. Meanwhile, seeking distribution is Dreamer written and directed by Salvador born Jesse Salmeron, a poignant and timely story starring and produced by Jeremy Ray Valdez about an upwardly mobile American whose paralyzed by the fear of being deported. Los Wild Ones is also seeking distribution and should find considerable traction within and outside hard core music fan circles.

My personal pride and joy however has to be the shorts film showcase. Portraying visionary quests for identity, love, truth and legacy and created by multicultural emergent voices from San Antonio, Miami, La, NYC, Oaxaca and Puerto Rico. This is the medium in which to find provocative, daring and versatile young generation of fresh voices who you can expect will blow up big soon. To name just a few, the filmmakers include Jillian Mayer and Lucas Leyva of the Borscht corporation, Zoé Salicrup Junco, the filmmaker of Gabi who workshopped her feature script of the short at San Antonio’s CineFestival’s Latino Screenwriters Project, Victor Hugo Duran the Colombia Film grad whose short, Fireworks played at the La Film Festival last year and is currently shooting his first feature in Mexico called La Victoria, and Steve Acevedo, the director of El Cocodrilo which is a powerful and urgent film about a journalist played by Jacob Vargas on the run from narcos, who participated in NBCU Directing Fellowship.

I’ll try not to go all Spring Breaker debauchery when I head to Miami next week. I’m very interested in immersing myself in the Hispanicize program to cover the dialogue and scrutinize the impact so stay tuned for my report.

See below to check out full film list and links. Hispanicize will take place April 9 – 13. For information on how to attend and the schedule click here.

Title: The Watch Directed By: Akiva Schaffer Starring: Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade, Rosemarie DeWitt, Billy Crudup, Doug Jones, Nicholas Braun, Erin Moriarty, Joe Nunez, Will Forte Original plots don’t even seem to do the trick anymore. Whether the movie’s about an alien invasion, a hotel robbery, babysitting bad kids or a disastrous couples retreat, we wind up with a tiresome tone and jokes that feel awfully familiar. Lucky for Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill, their standard is slightly elevated by a stellar somewhat new find, Richard Ayoade. Evan (Stiller) loves starting up local clubs. The Watch Review
"Let's keep it 1950s, kids," Vince Vaughn's character says to his teenage daughter and her prom date in Akiva Schaffer's The Watch.  That sentiment could be applied to the film's cherished values, and the characters' drive to protect the most boring of places: the suburbs.  The suburbs are where white flew after African-Americans began moving into the cities, and now it's a safe haven where nothing happens or will ever happen.  The paradox of The Watch is in seeing the heroes (played by Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade) go on a comic adventure to keep the status quo.  But in the dull trappings of Schaffer's bland direction, Stiller's killjoy character, and Ayoade's wasted talented, there's no comedy or thrills to be found.  It's a movie where rocking the suburbs won't wake the neighbors, and only the chemistry between Vaughn and Hill provides any levity to the tame R-rated comedy.

Mitch Hurwitz Interview Running Wilde
The new Fox series Running Wilde is a romantic comedy series in which Steve Wilde (Will Arnett), a spoiled, filthy rich playboy, desperately tries to win the heart of his humanitarian childhood sweetheart, Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell), by helping raise her 12-year-old daughter, Puddle (Stefania Owen). Rather than run the risk of letting Emmy slip away again, Steve pulls out all the stops to win her heart, but that may not be enough for this hopelessly mismatched pair.

During a recent interview, creator/writer/executive producer Mitch Hurwitz talked about how Running Wilde will be different from his last series, Arrested Development, why some changes have been made since the pilot was shot and what makes Will Arnett the perfect choice for a romantic comedy. He also gave an update on the progress of the Arrested Development feature film, said that they’re about half-way through writing the script now...

More Recasts for Fox's 'Running Wilde'
Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, and Alia Shawkat in Arrested Development (2003)

'Running Wilde,' the upcoming Fox comedy powered by 'Arrested Development' alumni, is running through yet another round of changes before the series airs in September. The show features Will Arnett as Steve Wilde, a spoiled rich guy who falls in love with his do-gooder childhood ex, Emily Kadubic, played by Keri Russell.

Today's news revealed that two characters from the original pilot have been recast. Mel Rodriguez ('Big Love') is set to replace Joseph A. Nunez as Wilde's dutiful friend/driver. The other recasting is slightly more complicated, since Jayne Houdeyshell's part as Wilde's head of security/ex-nanny has been rewritten and will now feature Robert Michael Morris ('The Comeback') as an ex-"manny."

'Running Wilde': A mini-'Arrested Development' reunion on Fox
Fox's new comedy "Running Wilde" brings together one of the stars and two of the principal writer-producers of "Arrested Development." Will they be able to recapture the comedy magic (and find a bigger audience)?

Disclaimer: These posts are not reviews -- shows often make tweaks to their pilot episodes between filming in the spring and their fall debuts. Full reviews will come closer to the premiere date.

What it is: Wealthy manchild Steve Wilde (Will Arnett) has just about everything he wants -- except the only girl he's ever really loved, Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell, "Felicity" and "Waitress"). He contrives a way to bring her back into his life, but Emmy, a self-righteous do-gooder, can't stand the way Steve lives his life.

Who's making it: Mitch Hurwitz, who created "Arrested Development, and Jim Vallely, a writer and executive producer on that show, created the series along with Arnett.

What to look for: Emmy's 12-year-old daughter,...

‘Running Wilde’ Pilot Script Review
This fall, Fox is using its hit show “Glee” to launch two new, half-hour comedies. The first is a parenting sitcom called “Raising Hope,” but the second is “Running Wilde,” a series created by Will Arnett and Mitch Hurwitz of “Arrested Development.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the hilarious “Ad,” then where have you been? And where were you when the show needed you to stay on the air? That series was ahead of its time, a consistently quick-witted oasis in a desert of “Seinfeld” imitators and foul-mouthed cartoons.

But times have changed. Look no further than NBC’s previous Thursday night line-up of shows like “The Office” or “Parks and Recreation” with their often uncomfortable humor, the smart situations of “30 Rock,” and the intelligent meta humor of “Community.” These series and more have raised the bar for television writing, so there’s less room for garbage like the Geico-inspired...

Review: Shrink
This is the review of Shrink, directed by Jonas Pate and starring Kevin Spacey, Joe Nunez, Mark Webber, Keke Palmer, Sierra Aylina McClain, Ada Luz Pla, Saffron Burrows, Jack Huston, Pell James and Mei Melançon. Shrink is a multi-layered story not dissimilar to Robert Altman’s The Player. It’s a modest and charming offering, directed by Jonas Pate. The script and cast strike several notes of genuine emotional depth – not least in its exploration of the deep scars prompted by suicide. There are also flashes of humour – particularly in the budding romance between Jeremy and Daisy.

'Running Wilde': Preview Fox's new rom-com starring Will Arnett, Keri Russell
"Running Wilde" is Fox's new romantic comedy starring Will Arnett ("Arrested Development," "30 Rock") as Steve Wilde, a filthy-rich, immature playboy trying desperately to win (or buy) the heart of his childhood sweetheart, Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell, "Felicity"), the uber-liberal humanitarian who got away.

The son of an oil tycoon, Steve hasn't had to work a day in his life and has always gotten everything he's wanted - with one exception: the love of Emmy. The daughter of a former Wilde housekeeper, Emmy is an earnest do-gooder who has spent her adult life trying to save the world. And though Emmy is content living with an indigenous tribe in the Amazon rainforest, her 12-year-old daughter, Puddle (Stefania Owen, "The Lovely Bones"), just wants to be a normal kid experiencing her adolescence in a normal place. And she would speak up except for the fact that she hasn't spoken in years.

Fox Fall 2010 Schedule Includes Three New Programs
Chicago – The networks announce their fall schedules this week and the first one out of the gate was the one that will likely see the least upheaval as the 2010-2011 schedule for Fox looks a lot like the 2009-2010 season. We knew “24” was ending after eight seasons on the air and that “‘Til Death” was likely done. The only slightly on-the-bubble show renewed was “Human Target” and the network announced seven new programs overall, three of which will premiere in the fall.

The biggest news was that the network is confident enough in the first-season success of “Glee”, the no. 1 new series of the season among Adults 18-49, that they’re using it to anchor a new Tuesday comedy block with a pair of premiere sitcoms: “Raising Hope” and “Running Wilde”. Both programs come from notable creators with “Hope” marking the return of “My Name is Earl” creator Greg Garcis...
