On paper, Willow in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" pilot was fairly one-note. She was a straightforward nerdy, downtrodden character with a predictable arc of growing more confident through her friendship with Buffy. When actor Alyson Hannigan read through her lines for the first time, she actually found the character somewhat off-putting. "I was reading the lines, and it was just sort of depressing," she explained in an official 2017 Watcher's Guide for the show. "[Willow] was saying, 'Oh, boys don't like me, and this and that, and I can't really speak around guys.' I just didn't want to feel sorry for her. How are [viewers] going to like her if they're saying, 'Oh, look at her feeling sorry for herself?'"
It's a reasonable critique; as the Dawn haters of later "Buffy" seasons can attest, there's nothing more annoying than a seemingly whiny, self-pitying character, even if she technically doesn't do anything evil.

With the unfortunate cancellation of How I Met Your Father after only two seasons, we’ve not only had to say goodbye to one of the few streaming comedies that feels like a true sitcom, but now we’ll likely never know who the titular father actually is. The series’ predecessor How I Met Your Mother took eight seasons to finally reveal the identity of the mother, and while it’s hard to believe that Himyf would have lasted that long anyway in the streaming era, it’s still sad that we won’t have the chance to see Sophie (Hilary Duff) find love the way Ted (Josh Radnor) did.
But just because Himym took so long to introduce the mother, doesn’t mean that we haven’t already met the father of Sophie’s child. The pilot episode even says that Sophie met the father the night of Sid...

Hulu is dropping another one of its series, canceling How I Met Your Father after two seasons.
The news comes two days after the Disney-run streamer canceled The Great. How I Met Your Father, which stars Hilary Duff, ended its second season in July and did not answer the implied question in its title.
How I Met Your Father is a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, which ran on CBS from 2005-14. Though not a direct sequel, it’s set in the same version of New York as the original series and has featured guest appearances from Himym stars Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris, among other alumni of that show. Characters played by Christopher Lowell and Suraj Sharma also live in the apartment occupied by Ted (Josh Radnor) and Marshall (Jason Segel) in the former series.

Although Hilary Duff shot to fame playing Lizzie McGuire on the hit Disney TV series, there came a point when she wanted to detach herself from being known as the beloved titular teenage character.
As soon as Duff wrapped the series, which “shot incredibly fast” for only two seasons, she told Josh Peck and Ben Soffer on this week’s episode of Dear Media’s “Good Guys” podcast that she “wanted to sing.”
“I really didn’t want to be Lizzie McGuire anymore, as cool as it was,” Duff admitted.
“For so long people were just like ‘Lizzie, Lizzie, Lizzie’ and still now to this day, which it doesn’t bother me anymore but it did for a while like I just desperately needed to be my own person,” she explained. “I think that I thought music was gonna be a good way to introduce myself- reintroduce myself- and it was.

"How I Met Your Father" has a lot in common with the original "How I Met Your Mother." Both shows focus on the dating lives of a bunch of young people in New York City, and they're both centered on the main character telling their future children about how they met their future spouses. The big difference is that the future scenes of the spinoff feature Sophie (Kim Cattrall) speaking to her off-camera son, whereas the original show gives us an off-camera future Ted (Bob Saget) talking to his on-camera kids.
As Hillary Duff pointed out, showing what Sophie's son looks like would give away too much information about the identity of the father. In the original show, the sight of Ted's kids made it clear immediately that the titular Mother would be white, which meant that every non-white woman that popped up on the show was immediately written off...

Last year, How I Met Your Father brought back Cobie Smulders’ Robin Scherbatsky. In season 2 of the Hulu series, which just premiered on Jan. 24, Neil Patrick Harris’s Barney Stinson will be the next big How I Met Your Mother cameo. While many fans of the How I Met franchise are thrilled to see these Og characters back in action, they’d rather see one Himym face as soon as possible: Cristin Milioti’s Tracy. Here’s why Tracy’s How I Met Your Father cameo is on a time crunch.

Neil Patrick Harris made a surprise return to his Himym character Barney Stinson in the Season 2 premiere of Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, and it appears he will play a pivotal role in the spinoff series.
In the final beats of the episode titled “Cool and Chill,” the timeline shifts to a year after the events earlier in the episode. Sophie leaves her mom Lori (Paget Brewster) a hysterical voicemail saying she thinks she is dating her father before suddenly crashing into a luxury SUV. When the driver’s side door opens, the victim is revealed to be Barney. He shrugs and tells Sophie, “Dude!” just as the bumper falls off the Audi onto the sidewalk.
When future Sophie (Kim Cattrall) is asked by her son who that guy is she replies, “We’ll get there soon enough.”

The first season of Prime Video’s “Hunters” series followed a fictional crew of civilians in late ‘70s New York who took out Nazis hiding in the US following Operation Paperclip. The team not only uncovered a German conspiracy to birth a Fourth Reich on American soil but discovered that one of their own was a former member of the Nazi regime.
The hit squad returns after almost a three-year hiatus for a second and final season this week, and features the entire team returning — including former MI6 agent and warrior nun Sister Harriet (Kate Mulvany), hacker and former Black Power movement member Roxy Jones (Tiffany Boone), munitions expert and Holocaust survivor Mindy Markowitz (Carol Kane), flamboyant actor and intel specialist Lonny Flash (Josh Radnor), former Marine Joe Torrance (Louis Ozawa Changchien) and new leader and codebreaker Jonah Heidelbaum (Logan Lerman). From the first episode, I was utterly taken in by the Amazon Prime series Hunters. The darkly comic – and sometimes just plain dark – series impressed with the intriguing storyline and the fantastic talent behind and in front of the camera. And now, we have the return of this complex and fascinating series. The good news is the second season brings on a whole set of brilliant elements, including Jennifer Jason Leigh. She joins Logan Lerman, Al Pacino, Josh Radnor, Carol Kane, Greg Austin, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa, and Lena Olin. The bad news, for this viewer at least, is that this is also its final season. And you can check it out now on Prime.
We recently spoke to several of the fine folks behind this excellent series. And happily, it was a joy to chat with Mr. Logan Lerman again. When I asked him about taking on a producer role,...

Plot: After an accident derails their exploits in Europe, The Hunters must band back together to hunt down history’s most infamous Nazi—Adolf Hitler—who’s hiding in South America. Meanwhile, a look to the past reveals Meyer Offerman (Al Pacino) encountering a dangerous threat that could unravel his secret and expose his true identity, with explosive reverberations for our Hunters.
Review: It is rare to see a television series go out on its own terms after such a short time on the air. Despite premiering three years ago, the second season of Hunters was delayed due to Covid-19. After so many years away, the dramatic series about Nazi hunters in the 1970s returns with a vastly different sophomore season which also serves as its last. I enjoyed the first season of this pulpy exploitation thriller, but I loved the second despite it feeling like a wholly different series.

“How I Met Your Father” kicks off new episodes in just a few weeks, and only Et exclusively debuts the season 2 trailer!
The minute-long trailer opens with Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her friend, Valentina (Francia Raisa), as they lament entering their 30s and how much of a “trainwreck” their lives still are. They’re all still trying to find “the love of [their] lives,” but as Sophie shares, “the world is not that simple anymore” as the friends continue to go through the highs and lows of trying to date in the modern age.
In one scene from the trailer, Ellen (Tien Tran) comments about how Sophie is dating “an older guy” as she and the others have a laugh about it at the bar — not knowing that Sophie’s new man (played by “Sex and the City’s” John Corbett) is actually there too. Awkward!
And things certainly aren’t...
