Exclusive: Law & Order veteran Rene Balcer has come on board CBS‘ drama pilot The Ordained as executive producer/showrunner. Balcer has a history with the project, having helped the creator, journalist-turned-author Lisa Cullen, with conceptualizing the idea when she first conceived the show in 2011. Back then, Cullen took out Ordained as a pitch but it didn’t sell. Cullen went on to write it as a spec, developing it with her management company, The Shuman Co. The spec was sent out to TV studios last summer, landing at CBS TV Studios where studio-based Frank Marshall came on board as executive producer. After the script was picked up to pilot by CBS, the producers looked for a showrunner. Because of Balcer’s previous involvement, he was a top choice and was available, leading to his deal on the project. He will be executive producer alongside Marshall, Larry Shuman and A.B. Fischer.

We're still not sure how Dread-worthy Starz's "Da Vinci's Demons" is going to be, but with David Goyer at its helm, we'll keep covering it for a while at least. Here's an update from Goyer at the ongoing Television Critics Association's winter press tour along with more on A&E's "Bates Motel."
Per Deadline, Goyer said that his first historical period project would be about 85% historically accurate. “He had a pretty incredible life we didn’t have to embellish as much as you’d think,” Goyer said of Da Vinci, portrayed by Tom Reilly. Goyer pointed out that though Da Vinci is best known as an artist and scientist, he was also thought to be a great horseman. Turning Da Vinci into a TV superhero was not too difficult: “He’s kind of superhero-y anyway.”

Kate Cox has become the struggling Sun-Herald’s third editor in three years as part of Fairfax Metro’s widespread restructure of its Nsw operation.
Cox has become editor of the Sunday tabloid after it recorded some of the biggest percentage circulation drops in Australian newspaper history since relaunching in March.
Editor Rick Feneley will become “senior writer across all platforms” after about 18 months at the helm. He replaced Simon Delhunty, who led the Sun-Herald’s previous relaunch.
Cox’s promotion comes less than a year after being appointed to edit Sunday Life.
Both News Limited and Fairfax have moved to restructure their staff with single editorial teams across weekday and weekend newspapers and across both print and online. News has labelled its position “one city one newsroom”.
The Fairfax appointments are the latest since the departure of the Sydney Morning Herald’s publisher and editor Peter Fray and Amanda Wilson.

Chicago – The “Resistance” franchise never gets enough respect. 2011’s third chapter was one of the most underrated games of last year and critics already seem to be picking apart the Vita debut of the series, “Resistance: Burning Skies.” Yes, there are flaws, but this game, more than any other to date, fully illustrates the potential of this machine and what it could mean to the gaming landscape. It’s the first Vita title that I feel like everyone should play. It’s a bit glitchy, the storytelling is disappointingly thin, and the campaign is short, but the game also fully incorporates Vita technology into gameplay in a more seamless way than any other title to date. And it’s just fun.
Video Game Rating: 4.0/5.0
Taking place between “Resistance: Fall of Man” and “Resistance 2,” “Resistance: Burning Skies” casts you as Tom Reilly, an NYC firefighter on the frontline of the Chimera invasion.
