Over two years after the release of Season 1, The Last of Us will return with Season 2 in April. Ahead of the upcoming release, HBO treated fans to the official trailer at the SXSW panel on Saturday. Per Deadline, the interest in the continuation is high, as the trailer is breaking records with 158 million global views in just three days.

The high number has set a new record for HBO and Max originals. The clip also outperformed previous promotional materials, which included trailers and teasers, by a margin of at least 160%, per HBO.

Released during The Last of Us' SXSW panel, the trailer features a look at not only the life Joel and Ellie have built in Jackson since season 1's finale, but additional conflict between The Last of Us Part II's rival factions the Washington Liberation Front and Seraphites in Seattle. In between these scenes, the trailer featured several throwbacks to its video game source material like Joel and Ellie's flashback museum trip, Abby and her allies traveling through the snow, and Ellie and her girlfriend Dina dancing and escaping a horde of Infected in an abandoned train station. Additionally, new scenes were teased that didn't appear in the game, such as Joel observing Ellie's tattoo covering up her bite marks, Wlf leader Isaac confronting a prisoner, and Joel's brother Tommy battling a Bloater with a flamethrower.

Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us comes out on April 13, 2025. Season 2 will follow the game so we can expect to be introduced to Abby Anderson and her story. With Kaitlyn Dever taking on the role, the series has the opportunity to expand on one key aspect of her backstory that was cut from Naughty Dog’s second game.

According to Laura Bailey, who voiced Abby in the game, there was a deleted flashback revealing Abby’s history with Wlf leader Isaac Dixon. The scene would’ve given us more context into their relationship and explained why he was so forgiving of her betrayal. Let’s hope it makes it to Season 2.

Critical Role will host a live one-shot Dungeons & Dragons adventure fundraiser to help those affected by the Los Angeles fires. The livestream, titled “Freaky Thursday,” will be held on Jan. 30 and will feature Bells Hells, and other key characters.

The “chaotic and interactive” livestream will feature the characters played by Ashley Johnson, Marisha Ray, Taliesin Jaffe, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Laura Bailey, and Liam O’Brien and game master Matthew Mercer.

Big casting news has just been revealed for the next chapter of the MonsterVerse. The film will serve as a direct follow-up to Adam Wingard's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Per Deadline, Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us) is now in talks to star in the upcoming Godzilla x Kong sequel. The film, which will see Grant Sputore take the helm with Wingard focusing on different projects, will similarly feature a mix of human characters and familiar Titans. David Callaham is writing the script. Character details have not yet been disclosed, and no other cast members are known to be involved with the film at this time.

Although leaks somewhat ruined the surprise of The Fantastic Four reveal, Marvel Rivals still caused a massive stir with the Season 1 (Eternal Night Falls) trailer, getting people excited about what would come later. Not only had The Fantastic Four gotten their first official showcase, but Dracula had also been revealed as the season's main villain, similar to Doctor Doom's role in Season 0. New York will also be the location of new maps, with Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum acting as a new battleground for players to fight over.

More interestingly, Marvel Rivals has shown off the two members of The Fantastic Four that will be added first: Mr Fantastic (aka Reed Richards) and Susan Storm (aka The Invisible Woman). It's always a grim, bloody affair when an anime character gets themselves killed. Depending on the character and the circumstances of their demise, though, fans may have totally different reactions. While some deaths are tragic and heartbreaking, other deaths may give viewers a sense of relief. Per the Game Awards, which marked its 10-year anniversary with the 2024 show, the 2024 viewership high was reached with streams across YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Instagram Live, and Facebook. “We wanted to represent the broad spectrum of gaming, from indie, nostalgia titles to Triple A blockbusters, but also past, present and future games, horror games, science fiction, fantasy.
