Barbara Marques is a Brazilian Black Latina Director, Producer, and Actress based in LA. Barbara started acting school when she attended high school at Centro Educacional Charles Darwin. She was 17 when she played "Caroba" from "O Santo e a Porca" by Ariano Suassuna, one of Brazil's most essential and best playwrights. Her performance got her first nomination as Best Actress. When she was 19 in 2006, she moved to Rio De Janeiro to start acting school. She began at CAL (performing school) in 2006, ending in 2008. In 2007, she played her first authorial short scene, "The Psychology," created with the collaboration of Nelson Freitas, a comedy actor in Brazil, where she got good critics. 2011, she started film school and graduated in 2015 from Estacio DE Sa University in Rio DE Janeiro. Between 2013 and 2017, Barbara worked primarily as an actress in short movies and some plays, such as The Wizard of Oz. In 2018, she moved to LA. In 2019, Barbara got an opportunity to shoot her third short movie, first filmed in Hollywood, "Cartaxo," where she is filming the Hour of the Star actress Marcelia Cartaxo, one of the most essential Actresses in Brazilian Cinema. Since 2019, Marques has been focused on her directing career, writing, producing, and shooting her projects. In 2023, her second movie, Love, won the best documentary at the Filmae Film Festival in Brasilia.
