Biography

Mako is a Japanese-born actress who has been based in Vancouver since 2019. She started acting in her young age, and has participated in over 25 productions as an actor and taken on roles as a producer and director in two productions, both in Japan and Canada. Her breakthrough came with the Emmy Award-winning series "Shogun", which has won in 18 categories. In the series, she portrayed Shizu No Kata, the consort of the protagonist Yoshi Toranaga, played by Hiroyuki Sanada. Most recently, Mako has taken on a major voice-over role in an upcoming AAA video game set to release in February, 2025. Mako is set to star as the lead in the debut feature film "Kage No Hana", directed by Burmese Canadian filmmaker Latif Ullah. Set against the backdrop of modern-day Japan, the film follows a young woman's journey of healing as she forges a deep bond with a retired Japanese dancer.
