Denisse Lara was born on January 20th, 1988 in the city of Pomona,
California, to Alberto and Lupita Castro. Denisse is the second of
three children. Her siblings, Berenice and Ulysses, were also born in
California. At the early age of four, Denisse displayed an amazing
ability to learn songs with great ease and accuracy. After the age of
seven, Denisse's parents encouraged their daughter to participate in
various singing competitions and television programs including: Sabado
Gigante and Facilisimo. She was awarded first place and Star of the
Year 1999 on Quiero ser estrella (1997) (the Latin Version of "Star Search".) Denisse sang
the title song "One" on Pokémon the Movie 2000 (1999). She was the voice of Melody (Spanish)
on The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000).
