There’s a new wrestling promotion debuting as a part of Fite+’s growing stable — Major League Wrestling.
Now, Mlw’s weekly show “Fusion” will stream on Fite+, as well as all of Mlw’s premium live events, starting with Mlw: Battle Riot V: Special Edition on May 18. The first episode of “Fusion” will stream on May 25.
7-Day Free Trial $7.99 / month fite.tv
“Adding Mlw Fusion to Fite+ is hugely important to what we set out to do – create a one-stop-shop with a low subscription rate for the most exciting promotions in Pro Wrestling and other combat sports,” said Fite COO Michael Weber. “[Mlw founder and CEO Court Bauer] is probably the only major wrestling promoter who spent time as a writer at WWE – and in Fusion you can see that influence week after week in the storylines and the action.”

With Major League Wrestling making its debut tonight on Reelz, the ad-supported cable channel hopes to recreate the impossible. Launched in 2006 as Reelz Channel, then best known as home to Leonard Maltin’s “Maltin on Movies” and hosting the Visual Effects Society Awards, it went through many iterations — until recently, none terribly successful. A year ago, it ranked a dim 51 in cable primetime among its key demo for advertising, adults 25-54.
And then, a miracle. On July 22, 2022, Reelz premiered “On Patrol Live,” its revival of the format behind canceled A&e hit “Live P.D.” Today, Reelz is No. 19 and its year-to-year ratings rose a whopping 274 percent
“We thought it would do well… it just blew everything out of the water,” Steve Cheskin, SVP of programming at Reelz, told IndieWire. “And it’s pulling everything up with it.”

Almost two years ago, Major League Wrestling founder Court Bauer had quite literally buried his face in the sand after learning that Tubi had walked away from their deal to broadcast his sporting events.
“I was on vacation and I was just shell shocked,” Bauer recalls to Deadline. “We took the family to the beach and I just face-planted into the sand. For two solid days, I was like a computer rebooting. You go through the dance of media rights deals. There are a lot of wrinkles along the way and bumps on the road. So to go through that and then say, ‘we got to start all over again?’ It’s like you’re almost to the top of the summit and then you fall down.”

Vice TV just signed a deal for its first-ever professional wrestling event: “Mlw Fightland,” TheWrap has learned exclusively. Of course, this is not Vice’s first-ever pro-wrestling show — that would be “Dark Side of the Ring,” which is also the cable channel’s highest-rated series ever.
“Fightland” takes place Saturday, Oct. 2 at the 2300 Arena in Philly. It’ll air as a one-hour television special the following Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m. Et on Vice. That means the special gets “Dark Side of the Ring” as its lead-in.
Could do worse.
“’Mlw Fightland’ on Vice TV blows up the tired, old wrestling format. Everyone has played it safe in presenting wrestling the same way for 25 years,” Court Bauer, CEO and founder of Major League Wrestling, told TheWrap. “‘Mlw Fightland’ offers viewers a transparent, unfiltered all access look into the smoke-filled arenas of wrestling. Major League Wrestling has today announced it has re-signed founding member of the Dynasty and Caribbean Champion Richard Holliday to a new multi-year deal.
Holliday first joined Mlw in 2018 and quickly emerged as a premier competitor, winning the World Tag Team Championship and most recently claiming the Caribbean Heavyweight title in January of this year. Says Mlw CEO Court Bauer:
Richard has become a staple of Mlw and its telecasts, helping to lead the charge in representing the league as a world class homegrown athlete. He is a dynastic competitor with qualities you seldom find. Mlw is ecstatic to continue to feature Richard Holliday for years to come.
Adds Holliday:
Anytime you’re making a decision for your future, all aspects in regards to it must be considered. Mlw checked all of the boxes in terms of opportunity, presentation, creative process, and upwards mobility. Other offers were presented, and of course taken into consideration,...

Exclusive: ICM Partners has signed Major League Wrestling with an eye toward negotiating new broadcast and streaming deals for the professional wrestling league whose TV rights become available this spring. ICM Partners will also represent Mlw’s newly launched Mlw Studios, a multi-platform media studio focusing on original scripted and non-scripted programming.
Founded in 2002 by former WWE writer Court Bauer, Mlw was dormant between 2004 and 2017. The league has been on the rise since the April 2018 launch of Mlw Fusion, a weekly television show on BeIN Sports. At that time, Mlw also started a working relationship with Mexican promotion Lucha Libre Aaa Worldwide.
The Mlw agency signing comes amid growing appetite for live sports — and wrestling in particular — among traditional and streaming networks. It comes on the heels of rich rights deals the WWE signed with USA Network (for Raw) and Fox Entertainment (for SmackDown) and the big pact Aew signed with WarnerMedia.

WWE is “looking into” an accusation from 2012, when a former WWE writer said popular Superstar Randy Orton would regularly expose himself to new writers. A spokesperson for the pro-wrestling promotion told TheWrap the matter is now under internal investigation.
In 2012, former WWE writer Court Bauer said on a podcast that Orton would pull out his penis and touch himself in front of new writers as a form of “initiation.” The accusation got new life when a Reddit user recently reposted Bauer’s quote.
“For every new writer that would show up, he comes in the room puts his hand down his pants, pulls out his d—, touches himself, then says ‘I’m Randy Orton, shake my hand…oh you don’t want to shake my hand? You’re big leaguing me? That’s f—ed up man. Should I tell Vince and Steph you won’t shake Randy Orton’s hand?...

Match #1: Kotto Brazil beat Myron Reed The following is courtesy of Mlw.com:
In our opening bout, Kotto Brazil was looking to pick up another victory after recently seeing a long Mlw losing streak come to an end. The two middleweights were looking to impress League officials, knowing their bout was going on right before the highly-anticipated World Middleweight Championship match. Brazil and Reed were very evenly matched. In fact, early on they were often caught utilizing the same maneuvers at the same time, including a nasty collision when both went for a flying cross body block.

February 10th, 1989 is an important date in professional wrestling history as that is the date that Vince McMahon, in testimony to the New Jersey State Senate, admitted that professional wrestling was not a sport but was in fact sports entertainment. The term they used in the wrestling business, kayfabe, giving the audience the illusion that what you were seeing was real and not staged, was officially dead.
That did not mean the death of the industry. In fact, it opened the flood gates for many other promotions to set up shop. Most importantly, it allowed the superstars themselves to finally tell fans stories of what happened back stage.
With the rise of podcasts, wrestling fans have plenty of shows to choose from, whether it be analysis of the current state of wrestling or stories of life behind the scenes. There is something for everyone. The following are some of my...

On the latest podcast of Mlw Radio, Court Bauer announced that as of February 15th, Lucha Underground, the off-shoot of the Aaa wrestling promotion based out of Mexico, will debut the first two seasons of their show on Netflix. This is huge news for the company. Being on the El Rey Network doesn’t put them in many homes around the United States so to have another platform for that company to showcase their product and more importantly make some money is good for business all around.
Lucha Underground is a unique television experience. It’s not presented in the traditional way folks are used to watching a wrestling show. While there is definitely great action occurring in the ring on each episode, the shows themselves are built up like a tawdry soap opera, dealing just as much with back stage goings on as well as the product in the ring.

Following an unbelievable Wrestle Kingdom 10 event on Monday at the Toyko Dome, the big news coming out of the show for New Japan Pro Wrestling is the fact that four of the promotion’s top stars supposedly gave notice that they will be leaving very soon.
According to multiple media reports (originated by Court Bauer and confirmed by Dave Meltzer), Shinsuke Nakamura, Aj Styles, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows all told Njpw that they will be finishing up with the company. New Japan typically issues one year contracts, with those being due every January. The decision by these four to leave coincides with some of their contracts expiring (Styles and Gallows were not under contract), and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes the four have already signed or agreed to terms with WWE. A timetable is not yet known for their arrival in the WWE system.

Former WWE writer Court Bauer stated on the latest edition of his Mlw Radio podcast that Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens is currently being discussed for WrestleMania 32.
The bout would be something of a dream match between two of the most talked about stars in the business and would represent a huge leap in the pecking order for Owens, who is currently entering a program defending his Intercontinental championship against Dean Ambrose.
Kevin Owens did an interview with the Like Father, Like Son podcast in which he named Lesnar as the man he’d most like to face at the Showcase of the Immortals. Speaking somewhat in character, K.O. had this to say about taking on The Beast:
“I’ve answered this question a couple of times and my answer is always Brock Lesnar, because I’d just love to be in the ring with him and see what it’s like.

Carlito is possibly returning to WWE, according to former WWE creative writer Court Bauer and Konnan on Mlw Radio.
The 36 year old is a good worker, in addition to possessing confident charisma. He’d also be an asset based upon his Hispanic background. WWE badly want a top Hispanic star, because of how large and lucrative that market is. However, they’re struggling to find a star who fits the bill, and it is believed that a return for Carlito could at least give some sort of boost to WWE popularity with the Hispanic audience.
Carlito was a WWE intercontinental champion, Us champion, and tag team champion. He had an initial big push against John Cena in 2004, but settled for lower card mediocrity over the following years. His exit from the company came in 2010, after violating WWE’s wellness policy and refusing to go to rehab.

WWE Superstar Mark Henry was on a promotional appearance tour in India where he told the Times of India that his career could be nearing its conclusion: “I may retire next year. It may be the swan-song of my wrestling career; but definitely not the end of Mark Henry!”
Talk of the World’s Strongest Man retiring has been around for some time now as his career has slowly declined after a prolonged stay in the main events ran its course. Not since his interactions with John Cena in 2013 – and that fantastic hoax retirement speech on Raw – have we seen the 400-pounder booked in a position to showcase his talents. PWInsider reports that the contract was signed several weeks ago and that it’s a multi-year deal that will keep the 11-year veteran with the only wrestling company he’s ever worked for.
Ziggler’s impending free agent status was a big topic of discussion last week when it was mentioned by former WWE writer Court Bauer that his deal is up in a few months.
