- Additional Crew
Raymond Ultarte aka Boogie Ray, aka Mr. Voodoo Ray, born April 18th, 1967 had established himself as one of the biggest influences on the New York City nightlife.
Ray Ultarte was born and raised in N.Y.C. on the streets of the upper Westside. Growing up with no father figure, Ray's mother made sure he did not become a product of the environment. He attended the High School of Fashion Industry and majored in photography and jewelry design. During this time of his life, he always loved the competitiveness of playing football and especially enjoyed dancing.
For decades, Voodoo Ray produced and promoted some of the best events in New York and other cities around the globe. He recently partnered on the weekly Toca Tuesdays and Funk box events. Voodoo Ray also played an integral part in the creation and production of The Funky Lil Tea Party, Love Is Love Showcase, the Boogieland Central Dance Showcase, Feel Good, The R&B Affairs, and many others. He was passionate about music, art, and dance, and consistently called upon his enormous catalog of artist friends to showcase during his events. Voodoo Ray choreographed and/or appeared as a featured dancer for some of the biggest musicians in the world, including the likes of JAY-Z ("Sunshine"), MC Lyte ("Ice Cream Dream"), Run-DMC ("It's Like That"), Mariah Carey ("Honey," "The Roof"), Wyclef Jean ("Trying to Stay Alive," "Pussycat"), Backstreet Boys ("Larger Than Life"), Black Moon ("Two Turntables & a Mic"), Bounty Killer ("It's a Party"), Rah Digga ("Party and Bullshit"), Nikki D ("Wasted"), Busta Rhymes ("Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See"), Cuban Link ("Scandalous"), Doug E. Fresh ("Busting Out"), Monie Love ("Born 2 B.R.E.E.D.") and many more.
Ray Ultarte knew he always wanted to get into the world of acting and began doing background work in such films as "The 25th Hour" and "The Fighting Temptation." He also landed a dancing role in "Marci X." Through his hard work and dedication, he was fortunate enough to land his first speaking role in "R-Xmas" directed by Abel Ferrea. He also starred in a student film called "Romeo" directed by Dana T and an independent feature called "Get a Grip" written by Renton Kirk.
Money raised through this Go Fund Me will be used to support the family with the expenses of his memorial services and for the ongoing support of his surviving daughter Azza.
