Otto is one of the most iconic movie objects of all time, not only recognized by audiences around the world for his only film performance in the massive hit Airplane! (1980), but he also has a profile page on IMDb along with other film cultural icons like Wilson the Volleyball and Ronald McDonald. Otto was an inflatable balloon born in 1979 , created and conceived by three fathers, the ZAZ trio Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and David Zucker. They specifically wrote a part for him as an airplane's autopilot in this parody of plane disaster films, which became a spectacular hit that eventually got a sequel made in 1982 - of which Otto didn't appear. His charismatic and positive loving character always smiling captured audiences' attention from the get-go, turning him into one of the most remarkable icons of the 1980's.
Little is known about his fate and other possible projects, except that he disintegrated in Jerry Zucker's garage house some years after his famous film role.
