The first official poster for James Gunn's Superman was released along with the trailer last month, and featured a striking shot of David Corenswet taking flight as the Dcu's Man of Steel.
A new teaser for the movie is expected to debut during the Puppy Bowl in February, but it'll probably be another while before Warner Bros./DC Studios begin the marketing campaign with more one-sheets.
For now, we have two impressive fan-made efforts for you to take a look at.
The first seems to be inspired by a similar-looking poster that was released for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel back in 2013, while the second shows our new Man of Tomorrow standing in his Fortress of Solitude.
Check out the posters below, along with the recently-released IMAX trailer.

Superman was the first fictional character to fully embody the archetype we now call a "superhero" — and as with any prototype, he didn't arrive fully formed. The Superman we know today is a fair bit different from the one who debuted in Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's "Action Comics" #1. He didn't fly, for one, nor were there any glowing green rocks called "Kryptonite" to weaken him.
As the good folks at DC Comics will tell you, Kryptonite first appeared in 1943 on the "Adventures of Superman" radio show. It then made it to the comics in 1949 and got its trademark green color in 1951.
When Superman is near Kryptonite, he'll show several classical symptoms of weakness: losing his equilibrium and collapsing, struggling to move, bleeding from his nose, etc. Depending on the version, the mineral either explicitly negates Superman's powers or just makes him too weak to fight. Generally, Kryptonite is...

Gunn and Safran’s Dcu recently launched its first project, ‘Creature Commandos.’ The animated series premiered with two episodes and has already been renewed for a second season, likely due to its overwhelmingly positive reception.
Now, anticipation is building for the next release: the live-action ‘Superman,’ starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Gunn has previously discussed the movie’s main villain, confirming that Lex Luthor will take center stage as the villain. There are also rumors and leaks suggesting that Ultraman could appear as another danger that Superman will have to face.
This will mark a significant shift from the Dceu, where General Zod was the first major Superman villain. Zod, one of DC’s most iconic antagonists, appeared in both ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘The Flash.’ However, it’s important to note that the version of Zod in...

Shorty after the first trailer for James Gunn's Superman was released, we got word that a slightly different version was playing in IMAX theaters, and that teaser has now been shared online in 4K quality.
The new shots of Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) have previously been released in Gif form, but this is the first time we're seeing them in the actual trailer itself. There also appears to be a brief new glimpse of the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) as he fights his way out of Luthor's stronghold.
It's probably going to be a while before we get another full trailer for the movie, but it was recently confirmed that a new sneak peek will air during the annual Puppy Bowl on Sunday, February 9, with Gunn and his dog Ozu introducing a Superman preview (along with a "special message") that will almost certainly feature Krypto in some capacity.

Many studios choose to unveil big new trailers during the Super Bowl, but Warner Bros. Discovery will reveal the latest look at one of their most anticipated movies of the year during the Puppy Bowl instead. THR reports that a special sneak preview of Superman will debut during the Puppy Bowl, with James Gunn set to appear with his dog Ozu, who was the inspiration for Krypto. The Superman director will also deliver a “special message” to viewers.
The Puppy Bowl will air on February 9th. The event features a number of puppies playing with balls and toys in their own little stadium as it raises adoption awareness. “Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl serves as an annual pop culture programming event that continues to expand in reach, awareness and of course, puppies, every year,” said Howard Lee, chief creative officer of U.S. networks and president of Discovery Networks. “Win or lose,...

It hasn't even been a month since the first teaser trailer for Superman was released, but we already have news on when the next sneak peek will swoop online.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery is bringing back "The Puppy Bowl" for the 21st time this year. The event will have DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn on hand alongside his dog Ozu, the inspiration for Krypto in the Dcu movie.
According to the trade, "Gunn will introduce a sneak preview of Superman and deliver a 'special message' to viewers. In addition, one pup participating in the game will be awarded the 'Krypto Super Play' award."

The first Superman trailer broke records for Warner Bros. and DC and we haven't had to wait too long for a new look at the DC Studios reboot.
Thanks to USA Today, a new shot of David Corenswet suited up as the Dcu's Man of Steel has been revealed today. Those colours really pop off the screen, while the Christopher Reeve fans among you - and we'd bet that's almost everyone reading this - will appreciate what seems to be a nod to his iconic hair curl.
The Twisters star undeniably looks the part of Superman and the fact this still looks like a widescreen screenshot from a trailer leaves us optimistic that another sneak peek could be right around the corner.
While they're not featured here, Gunn has previously explained why he decided to include the - surprisingly divisive - red trunks on Superman's Dcu costume.

Daniel Day-Lewis as Count Dracula? In another world, director Robert Eggers' "Nosferatu" could've given us just that.
"Nosferatu" evokes images of silent movie actor Max Shreck in a bald cap and pointed ears as he played the vampire Count Orlok. But in Eggers' new "Nosferatu," Orlok actor Bill Skarsgård looks nothing like that — or himself, even.
Similar to Skarsgård's performance as Pennywise in "It," he totally submits himself over to the character, disappearing behind make-up and (in "Nosferatu") an echo effect on his voice. I agree wholeheartedly with /Film's Chris Evangelista that when you watch Skarsgård's Orlok, you don't feel as if you're seeing a performance, but a true evil walking on screen. In that way, it's the most fully inhabited villain performance I can recall since Heath Ledger's Joker in "The Dark Knight."
Now, this can all sound like a backhanded compliment, treating Skarsgård as a mere stand-in...

When we think of Mark Harmon, the image that instantly comes to our mind is his portrayal of the stoic and sharp-witted Leroy Jethro Gibs on NCIS. The cornerstone of one of television’s longest-running TV shows and most beloved crime drama, Harmon is best known for his effortless on-screen charm and nuanced portrayals.

You may recall that, shortly after the first Superman teaser trailer was released, a couple of hi-res screenshots of Lex Luthor and Mister Terrific showed up online.
We never did track down that version of the sneak peek but both scenes - the only ones not included in the officially released teaser - have now found their way onto social media. They don't reveal much, of course, but we're sure many of you will welcome any new content from the Dcu reboot.
As an added bonus, the Luthor scene features both Ultraman and The Engineer.
Gunn has been silent on social media since the holidays and there's no clear indication of when we'll get a new look at Superman. The movie is bound to be featured in an upcoming issue of Empire, for example, but we can only guess as to when the next phase of marketing begins.

Henry Cavill is practically living in Middle-earth. His home screams Shire vibes, and now fans can’t help but picture him stepping into The Rings of Power as a legendary elf hero. With his deep dive-level love for Tolkien’s lore and that unmistakable charisma, he’d absolutely crush it as a bow-wielding, pointy-eared badass.

Seriously, Cavill bringing elf energy to the screen would be next-level magic. Amazon Studios, are you paying attention?

Henry Cavill is that fantasy fan. If Amazon’s The Rings of Power ever brings the legendary Glorfindel to life, Cavill is the guy.
First of all, he’s already proven his sword-wielding chops as Geralt of Rivia.

Rumors have been circulating over the past few days about Josh Brolin potentially playing Darkseid, the biggest bad of all of DC’s big bads. The reasoning for this includes logic like he’s a fantastic actor, and he has the voice for Darkseid, but it seems like the reason most people want him in the role is this: it would be meta and funny. While I agree, yes, it would be pretty funny and Brolin likely would do a great job, I don’t think “being meta” is a very good reason for an actor to be cast in a role.
If you don’t know why it would be “meta” to cast Brolin as Darkseid, I’ll very quickly break it down. Stated very simply, Thanos and Darkseid are often considered the archnemeses to the Avengers and the Justice League, Marvel and DC’s main super teams. There...

The teaser trailer for James Gunn's Superman was released shortly before Christmas and, in less than one month, it's received more views than the third Man of Steel trailer.
This is a significant achievement because it makes it the highest-viewed Superman TV show or movie trailer in history.
Does this matter? Well, for fans who like to pit the Dcu against the old Dceu, it certainly feels like a victory of sorts. Ultimately, what should be the bigger talking point is the fact this points to there being a lot of interest in DC Studios' Superman reboot.
What's going to be crucial is whether that translates into box office revenue this summer, particularly in a month where it faces stiff competition from Jurassic World Rebirth and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
It's unclear when we'll get our next look at the movie, though a new trailer being released in...

The conversation around the superhero genre will always be incomplete if you don’t talk about Zack Snyder and his contribution to DC. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you cannot deny that the filmmaker’s vision was quite refreshing when it came to bringing those superheroes to life. Whether it was Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, or Gal Gadot, he did his best to do justice to these characters, even if some might not think so.

Of course, his actors have spoken up about working in the Dceu, including Jesse Eisenberg who played the role of Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and had a cameo in Justice League. While he has nothing but praise for the film, he did admit that it hurt his career in a drastic way and he blames no one but himself.

With David Corenswet’s Superman all set to debut in the Dcu, it is high time James Gunn selects Batman for his shared universe. Despite Ben Affleck not having a solo film in the Dceu, it was confirmed that he would be stepping down from the role and a new actor would be cast for the upcoming The Brave and the Bold film Gunn announced.
While Robert Pattinson’s Batman is still a great portrayal, Matt Reeves’ insistence on keeping his Batverse grounded in reality will not be the right fit for the more cosmic adventures in the Dcu. Several candidates have popped up over the past few months, but for me, no one else comes close to Alan Ritchson to play Bruce Wayne. Here are three reasons why he is the perfect man for the job.

Marvel and DC Comics have both cultivated fandom with a shared universe between series. This web of continuity entangles young minds, who come to see the comics not merely as pulp adventures, but gateways to a whole other world whose history they could study and master. Then, superheroes took over 21st century Hollywood by importing this same storytelling model. But the first major superhero cinematic universe debuted on the small screen, not the silver one. Yes, before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was the DC Animated Universe (Dcau). A series of interconnected cartoons with overlapping cast and crew, the Dcau ran for 14 years from 1992 to 2006.
That long run would've been impossible without the people who made these cartoons. The first Dcau cartoon, "Batman: The Animated Series," was co-created by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski. Timm's distinctive art style (like Jack Kirby meets pin-up girl posters) became the Dcau standard.

With a new year comes a fresh slate of HBO shows, from long-anticipated returning favorites like “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” to new series, from Noah Wyle’s next medical drama to Rachel Sennott’s comedy show.
At the beginning of 2025, HBO will debut “The Pitt,” which centers on a Pittsburgh hospital, while Mike White’s anthology series returns with a new group of tourists in Thailand and one familiar face with “The White Lotus” Season 3. The rest of the year is jam-packed with highly anticipated series, including “The Last of Us” Season 2, “It: Welcome to Derry,” “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “Peacemaker” Season 2 and “Hacks” Season 4, among many others.
One notable series that won’t make it to HBO in 2025 is “Euphoria” Season 3, which is now slated for a 2026 release after delays pushed production to begin in January 2025.

As DC Studios kicks off its rebooted on-screen universe and Marvel focuses more on quality over quantity, there are probably less superhero films on the way than you’d expect. At least, specifically in 2025.
In total, there are only four new ones on the way for the year, three of which are coming from Marvel. That’s largely the result of schedule shakeups and a bigger focus on TV series.
A sequel to Matt Reeves’s “The Batman” was originally set for October 2025, but it got pushed to 2027 in December. Otherwise, both studios have several TV series on the way, with DC debuting “Creature Commandos” — the first project in Gunn’s universe — back on Dec. 5.
Here are all of the superhero films set to be released between Marvel and DC in 2025.

Smallville remains one of the most beloved comic book TV shows ever made and, for many DC fans, Tom Welling is their Man of Steel and Michael Rosenbaum is the Lex Luthor. There were also several strong female leads, a surprise given when the show was produced.
Smallville had a lengthy run, kicking off in 2001 before wrapping up in 2011 following a memorable 10 seasons (which somehow didn't see Clark Kent take flight and suit up until the final episode). Still, fans were left eager for more and eventually got a comic book sequel detailing the hero's early adventures as Superman.
There never were any spin-offs - it's easy to imagine things being different had the show been produced today - but we did come close to seeing an episode revolving around a "female Justice League."

Earlier this week, the news broke that Aquaman and Justice League star Jason Momoa will play Lobo in DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. We'd long expected the actor to get a new role in the Dcu and this was the most obvious next step after Arthur Curry.
The actor took to Instagram earlier today to celebrate his new comic book movie role again by smoking a cigar and showing off a script that says "For Lobo's Eyes Only" on the front.
Momoa was joined by Andor and Hit Man star Adria Arjona, a hugely popular choice for the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the Dcu. However, that's not why she's there; as you may already be aware, Momoa and Arjona are dating and went public with their relationship last May.

Amy Adams made her debut as Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, before going on to reprise the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
Though Adams was a popular choice to play the intrepid Daily Planet reporter when her casting was announced, there was a perception among a lot of fans that she was never really given the opportunity to sink her teeth into the character and deliver a truly memorable performance.
Lane has since been played by Elizabeth Tulloch in The CW's Superman and Lois series, but our next big-screen take on Clark Kent's love-interest will arrive in James Gunn's Superman later this year, with Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel) taking over the role.
While speaking to Vanity Fair, Adams reflected on her tenure as Lois Lane, and shared her thoughts on Brosnahan stepping into the part.

Hoult shared his experience of being given fake ice cream for a scene and recalled how he acted like a diva and refused to eat it. Welcome one and all to the third, and possibly final, part of my theories regarding the potential for an Injustice 3 game!
For those who missed the previous two, I'll briefly explain what each one was about. The first part dealt with what the story of Injustice 3 could be about based on the good ending from Injustice 2, while the second part was my theories as to which group of heroes would make the best playable characters for an Injustice 3. Now, onto the part that excites me the most; who should be the main villain(s) of Injustice 3? In no particular order, read on to find out!
1. Darkseid

Despite recent rumblings about negative reactions from test screenings, the first Superman trailer received positive reviews from fans and helped to increase interest in both the reboot and James Gunn's wider Dcu plans.
In recent years, there's been a lot of chatter online about whether the Man of Tomorrow is still relevant. Well, proving that there's still plenty of interest in the character is the fact Superman's teaser trailer has so far racked up 50.3 million views on YouTube.
Not only does the main version shared by DC continue to trend on the platform after being released on December 19, but it's only 700,000 or so views away from topping the most-viewed trailer for the last Superman movie, 2013's Man of Steel. The difference is that it took Zack Snyder's reboot over a decade to reach 51 million views.

Actor Nicholas Hoult is fresh off the success of Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu remake and the positive reactions to James Gunn’s Superman trailer. As a result, 2025 promises to be a big year for Hoult as he will step into the shoes of Lex Luthor when the latter movie flies into theaters in Summer. At the same time, one of his hilarious social media interactions has resurfaced.

James Gunn has never been one to shy away from unconventional choices, and his tenure as the CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran is proving to be no exception. When the filmmaker announced his plans for Creature Commandos, it received a mixed reaction from die-hard Justice League fans. They wondered why Gunn pushed DC’s iconic superheroes aside for a team that includes a werewolf, a vampire, and a Frankenstein monster.

His decision was not just a random choice but a bold move to shake up the first official project in the Dcu reboot. Although his vision was clear, this decision has left fans uncertain about what the future of the Dcu holds for them.

The first trailer for James Gunn's Superman packed quite a lot into its 2+ minutes, giving us a look at most of the supporting heroes and villains that'll be joining the main trio of Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), and the Man of Steel (David Corenswet).
There were also a few hints and Easter eggs scattered about, and we might just have another to share that seems to have flown under the radar up until now.
@DCUBrief believes the shot of Supes grieving over a destroyed robot could give us a first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
Some have been quick to wave this off on social media, but if you look closely at the reflection in the robot's head in the zoomed in screenshots, there does appear to be a person with blonde hair standing there. It could simply be a trick of the light...

In Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, Bill Skarsgård takes on the title role of ancient vampire Count Orlok, and it was far from the actor's first time undergoing a twisted transformation to play a monstrous villain.
Skarsgård is, of course, best-known for playing Pennywise the Clown in the It movies, and is set to return as the demonic entity in HBO/Max's Welcome To Derry spin-off series, which director Andy Muschietti is co-writing and producing.
During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Skarsgård was asked if he'd spoken to Muschietti about the planned Dcu Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. He said that he had, but wasn't "sure where he's at with it," and didn't give any indication that he'd actually talked about a potential part.

There was a time when Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke was being lined up for a huge role in the Dceu. Original plans called for the villain to learn Batman's secret identity in Justice League's post-credits scene (courtesy of Lex Luthor), setting the stage for him to hunt down Bruce Wayne in the pre-Robert Pattinson version of The Batman.
That all changed when Ben Affleck decided not to direct the movie, leading to Joss Whedon's Justice League showing Slade Wilson being enlisted to the "Injustice Society" instead. Despite the change, there were later rumblings about a Deathstroke spin-off helmed by The Raid's Gareth Evans.

DC Studios’ head James Gunn is defending the delay of “The Batman 2” to 2027.
It was announced Friday that Matt Revees’ follow-up to 2022’s “The Batman” was postponed from Oct. 2, 2026, to Oct. 1, 2027, which sparked some online backlash from fans concerned by the five-year hold. Gunn took to Threads later that day to quell any doubts surrounding the push, writing that it is “fairly common” for big-budget titles to have lengthy gaps before a sequel is released.
“To be fair, a 5 year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,” Gunn wrote on Threads. “7 years between ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens.’ 14 years between ‘Incredibles.’ 7 years between the first two ‘Terminators.’ 13 years between ‘Avatars.’ 36 years between ‘Top Guns.’ And, of course, 6 years between ‘Guardians Vol 2’ and ‘Vol 3.'”

On this week's episode of The Hot Mic, hosts Jeff Sneider and John Rocha shared some of the things they heard about a recent screening of James Gunn's Superman, and the buzz was definitely leaning negative.
Rocha was told that the Dcu reboot had a similar tone to Captain America: The First Avenger and The Mummy, and that the movie was said to be "decent" overall. Sneider's source was not as optimistic, suggesting that there is "reason to be worried" about the finished film.
We've now heard from a well-placed source who has spoken to people who have seen the movie, and their feedback was a lot more positive.
Apparently, Superman was described as "Guardians of the Galaxy-level good," and while some of the VFX was unfinished, a "lot of the shots were polished enough with seven months to go" before release. Those in attendance (that shared their opinions) reportedly "loved the movie.

The history of superhero TV shows on The CW started and ended with Superman. The very first, just as the network was born from the ashes of Upn and the WB, was "Smallville," which set a standard for telling superhero origin stories on TV without big budgets or blockbuster-level visual effects, and went on to become a Guinness World Record holder.
23 years later, The CW said goodbye to what will likely be the network's very last superhero TV show in "Superman & Lois." Rather than being another origin story, however, this series was a bold and exciting new take that began 20 years after Clark Kent had first suited up as the Man of Steel, battled foes like Lex Luthor, married Lois Lane, and become a father to twin boys. Rather than examining the start of Superman's career, the show explored Clark Kent's life as a middle-aged superhero all the way through to his final years.

He broke out as a child actor alongside Hugh Grant in 2002's About a Boy, he was charming as a young Beast in several X-Men movies, he nearly stole the show as the war boy Nux in 2015's fantastic Mad Max: Fury Road, and now he's in Nosferatu as Thomas Hutter, the innocent real estate agent who comes face to face with the deadly vampire. Next year he'll play Lex Luthor in Superman. He can't be stopped.
And he could have been even bigger. Speaking with Nosferatu costar Lily Rose-Depp over mega-spicy hot wings in an episode of Hot Ones Versus, he revealed that he auditioned for multiple roles back in the day when director Chris Columbus was casting actors to appear in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Although superhero serials and TV shows had been around for decades prior, Richard Donner’s 1978 version of Superman marked the first major, studio-funded DC feature film in Hollywood. The film’s commercial and critical success led to Richard Lester’s acclaimed follow-up, Superman II, solidifying the late great Christopher Reeve as a cinematic symbol of truth, justice, and hope. Over 25 years later, the events of the ridiculous follow-ups, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, were bypassed by Bryan Singer to accommodate Superman Returns, arguably ranking among the finest cinematic showcases for Clark Kent to prove his protective might. Sure, the movie isn’t as fun-filled or enjoyable as a children’s superhero outing should be, but, as far as restoring the luster into Superman’s cape and proving the comic book hero’s box office viability, Superman Returns did its job. At least, that’s how most critics and general moviegoers felt.

James Gunn has spearheaded the newly conceived DC Universe with much fervor and enthusiasm, as is evident from the first season of the animated series, Creature Commandos, and the trailer of Superman. The comic book studio finally seems to be headed toward a creatively rewarding future as the chief of DC Studios dreams big and isn’t afraid to take risks.

However, while DC is still a ways away from its grand opening in July 2025, the fans remain fixated on Gunn’s every move and decision, no matter how minor or benign. One of those decisions was to cast actors in one of the most anticipated films of the decade: Superman – a movie whose outcome has the power to make or break the DC comic book universe for good.

Christmas came early last week when DC Studios released the first Superman trailer. Now, filmmaker James Gunn has shared a Lego version of the sneak peek created by an extremely talented fan.
It's a shot-for-shot remake of the teaser, original audio and all, but with Lego Minifigures and bricks in place of the reboot's cast and sweeping cityscapes and sets.
In his post, Gunn promised that work continues on Superman and that it will be our gift when the movie lands in theaters next summer. We don't know when our next look at the first big screen Dcu title will be released, though the Super Bowl seems likely.
If so, it will likely go head-to-head with The Fantastic Four: First Steps (with a rematch taking place in July).
During a recent Screen Brief interview, Gunn talked about opening the trailer with a shot of a beaten and bloodied Man of Steel.

The Superman trailer has been released and it is absolutely glorious. It showed us that its 2025 release can’t come soon enough. David Corenswet has already made fans across the world excited for his take on the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult have done the same with their takes on Lois Lane and Lex Luthor.
Of course, audiences are waiting to see those iconic three characters on the screen again, but the trailer revealed some of the other characters that will appear in the movie too like Guy Gardner, Metamorpho, and Hawk Girl.
Many people who will go and see Superman in theaters won't have read comic books regularly or know the history. They aren’t aware that Krypto (the goodest dog in DC Comics) debuted in Adventure Comics No. 210 or how The Engineer, Angela Spica (played by María Gabriela de Faría) has multiple first appearances...
