Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive trailer drop on Hotel Dunsmuir, being released by Vmi Releasing on VOD platforms Tuesday, October 4th, 2022.
In the film…
“Set deep in the rural West, a young woman named Billie (Jet Jandreau) lives under the thumb of her domineering husband Luke (Jose Rosete), the alpha in a group of small town outlaws. When Luke’s antics cross a line, Billie flees for her mysterious and witchy grandmother Maddy. At the halfway point to Maddy’s house, with a seething Luke hot on her tail, Billie checks into a run-down Gold Rush-era hotel in the mountain town of Dunsmuir.
“A supernatural, disturbing experience in her room sends Billie back on the road, this time accompanied by a hotel maid she befriends named Ruby (Amber Gaston). As the two women speed down the highway across spooky and desolate mountains, they are pursued by Luke – and something sinister,...

"You were made by humans to afflict death!!" 11:11 Ent. has debuted a badass second trailer for an indie sci-fi action movie titled Monsters of Men, another dark, robots-will-kill-us-all movie. This is launching on VOD everywhere this week - hence the final trailer to remind us. A robotics company teams up with a corrupt CIA agent dropping four prototype robots into a suspecting drug camp in the Golden triangle. Six doctors on a good cause mission witness the brutal slaughter of an innocent village and are forced into a deadly game of cat & mouse as they become new targets. "In his stunning directorial debut, Toia combines non-stop action with powerful special effects to explore A.I., corruption and the terrifying possibilities of future warfare." The film stars Neal McDonough, Jose Rosete, Jessica Blackmore, and Kayli Tran. Described as "Predator meets RoboCop", this looks intense and gnarly and brutal, but I'm...

"The whole idea of this show is to test your will to go on." Wild Eye Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for a strange horror called Human Zoo, which is the most generic descriptive name for the film possible. The internet watches live, as reality-show contestants struggle against time to see who will stay in solitary confinement the longest and take home the one million dollar prize. The film stars Robert Carradine (the younger half-brother of David Carradine), Trista Robinson, Rachel Amanda Bryant, Jose Rosete, Jessica Cameron, Megan Le, and Heather Dorff. Even though this is supposed to be commenting on snuff films, it just looks and sounds and smells like a snuff film itself. Not sure how this can be entertaining. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for John E Seymore's Human Zoo, direct from YouTube: The internet watches live, as reality-show contestants struggle against time...

You always have to worry when movies are advertised as “x meets y”, even if that – sometimes – is actually the best way to describe a film, In the case of Intensive Care, its “John Wick meets Don’t Breathe” an interesting combination if there ever was one. Well, sort of.

The feature debut of director James Dylan, [Cargo] sees Ron Thompson star as Anthony Peterson, a businessman with a dark past that finds himself incarcerated by unknown assailants and with only a mobile phone must raise one million pounds to prevent the death of him and his wife.
[Cargo] borrows heavily from recent hits Buried and Locke, although it leans heavily on the latter as the relationships between Peterson and his family and friends fall under the microscope. With just a sole actor to focus on, the success of this film hinges on a strong lead performance and tight script in order to keep the tension ratcheted and keep the viewer gripped. However a powerhouse performance from Thompson, this is not. We have a man who reacts to...

An ex-junkie, ex-convict, and luchador enter a fish taco shack … the punch line is a three-pronged adventure through Compton while engulfed by the shadow of a lunatic pimp moonlighting as a black market organ wholesaler. Director Ryan Prows and the rest of his quintet of writers (Tim Cairo, Jake Gibson, Shaye Ogbonna, and Maxwell Michael Towson) bring together a menagerie of monsters, fiends, thugs, and criminals all searching for an escape in their violently heart-warming film Lowlife. Full of heinous acts justified by a universal goal to save the ones they love, every eccentrically drawn character earns our sympathy despite the blood spilled by their hands. With their worlds colliding just as each appears ready to implode, a common enemy unites the hope within to reclaim their honor.

If you’ve seen writer/director Erik Reese‘s debut Train to Stockholm—a personal, introspective drama—the thought of him helming a down and dirty Nevadan desert revenger doesn’t necessarily come to mind. But that’s exactly what he’s done with Dead Bullet, the successful genre jump as good a calling card as any for his talents. Starting closer to his adopted home of Finland, Reese reworked a Scandinavian-set script that didn’t quite come together as he’d like for the sweltering heat and casino bells of his hometown in the American Midwest. Rather than being about millions of dollars, uncut heroin, or illegal weapons sold to the highest bidder, this tale surrounds one hundred thousand dollars in poker chips. Chump change to Hollywood, but everything to Bill Holden (John T. Woods).

God give me strength. Time for yet another “found-footage” movie, this time riffing on The Omen. Well at least that’s what the filmmakers say!
Writen and directed by Bryan Coyne, Infernal tells the story of Nathan (Ostroff) and Sophia (Adair) a newlywed couple, both looking forward to a bright future. Not long after matrimony, Heather becomes pregnant and ushers the pair’s first child into the world, Imogene. It soon becomes apparent that Imogene (Koerner) is exhibiting strange and dangerous behavior, leaving the new parents floundering in their attempt to find answers. When Imogene’s actions become destructive, it becomes clear that forces beyond the natural world are at work, and that something – or Someone – is pulling the strings.
Infernal did not get off to a good start.

There’s no shortage of independent horror news sent our way and we’re back with another edition of the Indie Spotlight. Today, we have information on a short film from the makers of DeadHeads, a limited run of Geeks vs. Zombies, and much more:
Geeks vs. Zombies: “Four geeks have survived the initial onsluaght of the zombie apocalypse and continue to survive based on their knowledge of all things zombie. They find themselves in an abandoned civil war fort where they run into another group of survivors… but not quite the geeks they are.
As the fort is surrounded by zombies and the zombies start to get in the fort, the geeks must decide what their next step is. Everyone knows that when two groups join up in a zombie movie, it means people are going to die. Do the geeks abandon these new people, kill them, or what?...

Filming will start in Los Angeles this month on Dog Fight, a horror film which also includes action, crime and torture elements.
According to the official description, the plot "revolves around an underground fighting ring whose competitors are made up of women who have been kidnapped and 'broken' - essentially being turned into rabid dogs psychologically."
But, despite that potentially controversial storyline, you may be surprised to learn it's been scripted by two women and has two female producers.
Written by Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska (pictured top), the twin team behind Dead Hooker in a Trunk, it is being directed by Sean-Michael Argo, whose feature Fable: Teeth of Beasts screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film is produced by Tara Cardinal (pictured above right), who recently finished shooting action/fantasy flick Legend of the Red Reaper, and Devanny Pinn who, aside from appearances in Piranha 3D and the upcoming sci-fi thriller 15 Till Midnight,...

Devanny Pinn is probably the hardest working up and comer in the indie horror film scene. She just recently had a role in the very mainstream Piranha 3-D, but she balances that out with credible indie work in such titles as Song of the Shattered, 15 Till Midnight and the upcoming (and possibly cult classic- Dog Fight). And just for your info, she wants people to know that she is 22, not 21 like her IMDb profile says! I had the chance to ask her a few questions. Here is what she had to say.
(For more info. on Devanny visit http://devannypinn.net/ or to help out with her charity that she is associated with visit http://costumesforkids.net/ )
So for those unfamiliar with Devanny Pinn, who is she and what is she all about?

Dogfight, produced by Tara Cardinal and Devanny Pinn, and scripted by Jen and Sylvia Soska (Dead Hooker in a Trunk), pits woman against woman in a violent fight for survival.
The film, which is still in preproduction, is a low budget indie and will be directed by Sean Michael Argo. Dogfight will feature actors Tara Cardinal, Elske McCain, Tara Alexis, Rachel Grubb, Jose Rosete, Devanny Pinn, Bill Oberst Jr, Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska.
The small synopsis so far states: Kidnapped girls are trained to live and fight as dogs in a high priced underground ring.
I wonder if that means they fight Like dogs literally? Like, do they have to bite each other instead of punching? God, I hope so.
The film starts filming in Los Angeles, California in September, 2010. More as we hear it.

Fable: Teeth of Beasts Poster
Dark Roast Releasing is a distribution company that was formed this year, which focuses on modern, independent films. One of their newest acquisitions is Fable: Teeth of Beasts, which will show at this year's Fantasia Film Festival. However, after watching the film's trailer and perusing the Fable movie poster, carefully, a better title for the film could have been Fable: Teeth of Breasts. The trailer is flashy, but offers almost no info' on the story. As well, Fable seems out to titillate rather than deliver anything cohesive, or coherent. Yet, some fans might find the eye candy charming as character Lilith Noir (Melantha Blackthorne) blasts away at any and almost every man she comes in contact with, in this clip.
The synopsis for Fable: Teeth of Beasts here:
"Lilith Noir is a hardboiled freelance enforcer for the shadow government that keeps watch over the city of Fable,...

Warning: a few minor plot spoilers ahead.
Running on Empty Dreams (2007) may be one of the most emotionally exhausting lesbian films to come along since Boys on the Side, though it lacks the permanence and star power of the 1995 classic.
Instead, Running — recently released on DVD — offers a distinct indie charm, a wonderful, fulfilling lesbian romance (which is based on true events) and about 12 minutes of superfluous running time.
Written and directed by Nitara Lee Osbourne, the film is clearly a labor of love, though the end product is undeniably uneven.
The movie begins with the beautiful, brooding Sydney (Kathleen Benner) traveling to Arizona with her ex-marine husband (Corey, played by Jose Rosete) and their adorable son, Matt.

Sydney is ill with thyroid cancer and the family has very little money, so she daydreams her life away. She’s also an aspiring screenwriter — penning lesbian-oriented...
