Stuart Gorrell (September 17, 1901 - August 10, 1963) could be the epitome of the one-hit wonder. Born Stuart Graham Steven Gorrell, he met composer Hoagy Carmichael when they were both college students. Several years later, in 1930, after hearing Carmichel play the melody of a new tune, Gorrel decided to see if he could write the lyrics to it. The result was the song "Georgia on My Mind". Gorrell was a businessman by training, not a writer or musician, and he apparently never wrote another song lyric after that, at least not under his name.
