It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. Last October, it was revealed that the film will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines… and now cinematographer Christian Sebaldt has shared an image that indicates Final Destination: Bloodlines will be heading into production soon! (If it hasn’t already.

Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry – and entertainment industry scooper Daniel Richtman just revealed the plot synopsis for the new film, along with some character descriptions and the title, which isn’t going to be Final Destination 6. This one is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines, which is kind of bummer because Bloodlines is a very over-used subtitle in the horror world. To name just a few, we’ve previously gotten Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, Tremors 5: Bloodlines, and Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.
But there is good reason for the Bloodlines subtitle, because family bloodlines are important to the story. Jeffrey Reddick – who wrote the initial screenplay for the original Final Destination and contributed to Final Destination 2 – has previously said that...

The production designer for the upcoming Final Destination 6 film confirmed that it’s considered a reboot.
The sixth entry in the franchise was first announced as being in development in 2019, though due to many factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic, progress on the film has been slow. Both Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will be co-directing the project, and Scream VI screenwriter Guy Busik is penning the story.
While little is known about the movie, it was previously revealed that the plot will center on first responders instead of the usual cast of younger characters.

For the most part, horror franchises tend to center around a singular entity like a masked slasher, recognizable monster, defiant survivor, or a specific location. And then there's the "Final Destination" franchise, a series of films that has continued to thrive without easily merchandised iconography or the same stable of characters returning each time that are instead connected by the premise that no matter who we are, where we're from, or what we do ... death is going to get us one way or another.
It's a morbid thought, sure, but one that has more basis in reality than men who just won't die, serial killer-possessed dolls, dream predators, Bdsm hell demons, rural cannibal families, torturous masterminds with a legion of acolytes, or supernatural entities. Death is coming for us all, and the only difference is when and how it's going to happen. As the mortician Bludworth (Tony Todd) explains in...

Sources tell Bloody Disgusting that Tony Todd has signed on to reprise his role as William Bludworth in the upcoming sixth installment in the Final Destination franchise.
The horror icon played the enigmatic mortician in Final Destination, Final Destination 2, and Final Destination 5.
The plot reportedly centers on first responders. We’re told that the film digs into Bludworth’s backstory, including a flashback to his childhood that reveals more about his connection to death.
This may be what franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick was referring to in his recent comments that Final Destination 6 “unearths a whole deep layer to the story.”
Production is set to take place in Vancouver after the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved. Zach Lipovsky & Adam B. Stein (Freaks) will direct from a script by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor (Bed Rest). Filmmaker Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) produces.

Thirteen months ago, Jeffrey Reddick – who wrote the initial screenplay for the original Final Destination and contributed to Final Destination 2 – said that the upcoming sequel Final Destination 6 would shake up the formula of the franchise. Now Reddick has been asked by Collider to clarify what he meant by that… and while he had to tiptoe around spoilers while giving his answer, he did say that the film will be an interesting expansion of the Final Destination universe.
Reddick told Collider that “you can’t get away from the cheating death and death coming after you part of it because that’s what makes it a Final Destination film” but this one “doesn’t just kind of add another layer. Usually there’s a new layer every film where it’s like, ‘Oh, well, this can save you or this can save you.’ This film dives into it in such a unique way,...

Twelve years have gone by since the last time a new Final Destination movie was released – which is way too long without a new entry in an awesome franchise that had a nice “one every three years” pattern going on for a while. Thankfully, Final Destination 6 is in the works. Last September, it was announced that the film will be directed by the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie. Now it has come to our attention that Final Destination franchise producer Craig Perry has teased that a standout death sequence in the film will be set in a tattoo / piercing parlor!
Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing Final Destination 6 with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Perry.

Fans of people cheating death and Rube Goldberg machines get ready because we're eatin' goooooood tonight! Earlier today it was announced that the "Final Destination" franchise was getting a new installment, with the directors of 2018's "Freaks," Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, tapped to bring "Final Destination 6" to life.
The directing duo has a fascinating background, having co-directed the live-action "Kim Possible" movie for Disney Channel, with Lipovsky directing "Dead Rising: Watchtower" and "Leprechaun: Origins." The Disney connection seems weird until you realize Lipovsky got his start as a kid actor in plenty of family-friendly horror fare like "Goosebumps" and Disney's "So Weird," while also appearing in "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" (which is extremely exciting news for me and like ... six other people on the planet). "Final Destination 5" might have been one hell of a franchise closer, but we're not out of Death's grasp just yet. After years of speculation and discussion, it looks like "Final Destination 6" is finally on track for release, and its director has finally been announced. Well, its two directors, that is. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directors of 2018's "Freaks," have been tapped by New Line Cinema to bring the beloved franchise back to life.
Although the exact plot details are still being kept under wraps, we probably all know what it's going to be about, anyways. It will likely follow the tried-and-true formula involving a premonition, a fateful decision that results in a group of people avoiding a deadly event as seen in the aforementioned premonition, and Death starts hunting them down one by one because no one escapes their fate. Maybe...

Here’s some awesome news to end the week with: eleven years after the release of Final Destination 5, a new sequel is almost ready to head into production – and Final Destination 6 has just found its directors! The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that the new sequel, which is expected to be released through the HBO Max streaming service, is going to be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.
The duo of Lipovsky and Stein previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie. Lipovsky also directed Dead Rising: Watchtower and Leprechaun: Origins on his own… but I’ll try not to hold that Leprechaun movie against him.
Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing Final Destination 6 with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Final Destination franchise producer Craig Perry.

The Final Destination franchise is being retooled with a brand new movie, with Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car, Spider-Man: No Way Home) on board as producer. Watts is producing the sixth installment of the franchise for HBO Max, with Lori Evans Taylor (“Wicked Wicked Games”) and Guy Busick (Scream 2021) writing Final Destination 6.
As an update today, THR reports that Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks) have been brought on board to direct Final Destination 6, with the plot under wraps.
Speaking with Dread Central, Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick recently teased what we can expect, suggesting the new movie will change up the classic formula.
Reddick teased, “I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.’ And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every...

Seven-year-old Chloe never leaves her ramshackle suburban home unless under the watchful eye of her paranoid father. Instead, he trains his daughter to adopt an assumed identity if she’s ever separated from him, or to hide in a well-provisioned panic room if he should not return from one of his infrequent forays outside. However something clearly isn’t quite right with this weird family dynamic and Chloe is determined to find out what exactly lies outside the door her father is so frightened of.
I originally saw Freaks way back in February at Frightfest’s Glasgow event and since then the film has been percolating in my brain and given that it’s out now on DVD and Blu-ray it’s the perfect time to revisit the film and confirm my suspicions…...

Caught between her protective father and the outside world she's forbidden to explore, seven-year-old Chloe is stuck in her own eerie fairy tale in Freaks, the new sci-fi film from Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky. With Freaks now in theaters from Well Go USA, and its score now available digitally, we caught up with composer Tim Wynn to discuss creating the unique theme for Chloe, collaborating with Stein and Lipovsky (after their previous work on the Disney Xd series Mech-4X), and the instruments he used to create the music of Freaks.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, and congratulations on your score for Freaks! How did you get involved as the composer for this film?
Tim Wynn: Thanks, I really appreciate it. I am very excited about Freaks being released in theatres. I met Zach and Adam, the writer-director team behind Freaks, while working on Disney’s Mech-X4.

The stakes were high as Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky headed to Toronto one year ago to debut Freaks, their long-gestating, low-budget sci-fi feature. The filmmakers had spent years writing the script, which centers on a young girl cloistered in a house with her paranoid father. They spent years more getting it made, raising money, attracting actors like Emile Hirsch and Oscar nominee Bruce Dern to work for little pay, and drawing on friends and family for countless weekend test screenings to perfect the film's reveals.

Science fiction on a budget can be tricky sometimes to properly pull off. There are countless instances where not having the required resources can compromise an otherwise extravagant vision. However, there are also plenty of times where working without a ton of money can lead to extra creativity. Here, with Freaks, the small budget actually is a boon to the project. Focusing in on the quartet of main cast members, as well as the unseen implications of the concept, leads to a truly engaging experience. Whereas the X-Men franchise has gone off the rails as it got more and more expensive, this little film is actually far superior, for a fraction of the price tag. Taking place after an unseen but often mentioned cataclysmic event, the world now has a number of “freaks” in it, dubbed “abnormals” by the government and hunted down/imprisoned, when they’re not just out and out killed.
