It’s amazing how this season of Harley Quinn started just okay and yet managed to return to full form with banger after banger. The penultimate episode of season 5 is the perfect example of that.

Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Sharon Quinzel (Harley’s mother) needed a plan to return Metropolis to its normal size. The only way to do that was to stop Lena Luthor with none other than her villainous brother Lex Luthor. Sadly, Harley’s plan to use Lex’s plan failed. And when Harley uses her incredible skills as a therapist to help Lena and Luthor get over their rivalry, she only makes them stronger. It ends with them teaming up, shrinking Ivy, Harley, and Sharon, and putting them in a bottle with Brainiac.

Back on Earth, the unlikely trio of Joker, Lois Lane, and Bruce Wayne (not as Batman) were trying to keep things together in Metropolis.

James Gunn is so back and this time, he has brought David Corenswet with him. Probably creating one of the best Superman movies of all time, the world is very excited (and worried) about James Gunn’s Superman.

On March 18, 2021, Zack Snyder's Justice League premiered on HBO Max. While it did little to sway the filmmaker's detractors, most DC fans seemed to agree that it was a huge improvement over Joss Whedon's 2017 theatrical cut. 

Warner Bros. allowed Snyder to add new scenes to the movie, many of which set the stage for his unmade sequels. Then, there were the teases already in there from back when he was essentially in charge of the DC Extended Universe. 

Four years later and over two years after DC Studios was formed to reboot the Dceu as the Dcu, it's pretty obvious Snyder's Justice League sequels won't happen. It's hard to say why we've never got an animated or comic book follow-up, but in this feature, we're taking a closer look at the biggest unresolved plot threads and what, if anything, has been revealed about the filmmaker's intentions for them.

Superman is one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, so it's not exactly surprising to see so much buzz - both positive and negative - surrounding James Gunn's long-awaited reboot.

Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.

Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.

"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

Fans are aware Brendan Fraser came very close to playing Superman. According to many, his charming yet inherently kind demeanor would have been a perfect fit to portray Clark Kent on screen.

As such, losing the opportunity to witness him donning the red and blue suit has been a disappointment to the millions who appreciate him worldwide. What made matters worse was Fraser revealing the reason behind him losing Superman in an interview once.

However, nothing could have prepared the world for Sandra Oh being fan cast as Lois Lane opposite The Whale actor. If anything, this missed opportunity seems to be haunting fans even more.

At the end of 2022, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director James Gunn was named co-ceo of DC Studios alongside veteran producer Peter Safran.

Gunn is believed to be focusing primarily on the creative side of the Dcu and, provided nothing goes disastrously wrong, is expected to remain in his first executive role for anywhere up to a decade. The filmmaker has already worked on Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2 and is currently in post-production on Superman.

According to a new report from Puck, Gunn is one of many industry figures who have hybrid deals covering their creative and executive duties. In Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's case, for example, he's likely paid separately for his President and executive producer positions.

Gunn, meanwhile, looks set to score as many as three paydays for his work on Superman.

We're now just under four months away from the release of James Gunn's Superman, but it seems there are a couple of key cast members that the Guardians of the Galaxy director managed to keep under wraps during production.

In his latest newsletter, Jeff Sneider says he's heard that there are still "some major casting surprises in Gunn’s Superman," and he believes that Kal-El's biological father, Jor-El, is one of them.

Characters we've never seen on the big screen before like Guy Gardner's Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and the Engineer.

We got a first glimpse of María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer via set photos when Superman was filming last summer, but director James Gunn has now shared a first official look at the character via a new behind-the-scenes photo.

In the comics, Angela Spica is a heroic member of the super-group known as The Authority, and has a number of powers, including the ability to shape-shift. We're not sure if this first live-action take on the character will have a similar power-set, but we do know that she will be an antagonist to David Corenswet's Man of Steel.

Jason Momoa wasn’t kidding when he said playing the comic book character Lobo was a top priority for him. In a new post on X, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn revealed the text Momoa sent him when it was announced in fall 2022 that Gunn and Peter Safran would be heading up the Warner Bros. superhero division. As reactions (good and bad) from supposed test screenings continue to dominate the conversation online, Superman director James Gunn has just shared a new look at the Dcu's Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi).

It doesn't tell us a great deal about what to expect from these characters. However, it appears to be the same scene from the trailer where Terrific was shown protecting Lois from a squad of what looked to be Lex Luthor's green and purple-clad soldiers.

Per Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics filed a motion to dismiss on Wednesday, March 5, in the hopes of dismissing the pending lawsuit brought about by Mark Peary, nephew of the late Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. Peary's suit was filed in January, and seeks to invalidate Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios' Superman copyrights in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Ireland. The motion to dismiss alleges that Peary's mother, Jean Peavy, signed away the rights to Superman in 1992, shortly after Shuster's passing that same year.

Studio attorney Daniel Petrocelli said of the case, "Peary's complaint fails on every ground." Petrocelli elaborated, "There are no carve-outs in the controlling 1992 agreement for any foreign copyrights, much less for the copyrights in the 10 countries Peary now alleges in the Complaint." Back in January, we learned that Warner Bros. and director James Gunn's Superman may have run into a (potentially) major roadblock on its journey to the big screen.

Mark Peary, the nephew of the late Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery/DC Studios/DC Comics, claiming that the studio lacks the rights to release the Dcu reboot in a handful of key territories, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia.

The matter has to do with foreign copyrights to the original Superman character and story. A popular Portuguese fan site DC da Depressão shared on X, formerly Twitter, some tidbits of what fans can expect in the upcoming Superman film (via Dcu Hype). First off, Nicholas Hoult reportedly delivered a great performance as Lex Luthor.

Tom Welling and Allison Mack were the only Smallville cast members to appear in all ten seasons of the Superman origin story. Mack played Clark Kent’s best friend and superhero sidekick, Chloe Sullivan. Chloe worked on the school newspaper with young Clark, and her innate curiosity had her sniffing around Clark’s secret.

Chloe Sullivan was the proto-Lois and Lois Lane’s cousin. She fearlessly chased stories, unearthing a few skeletons in the closets of the rich and powerful, making her more than a few enemies. While her journalism career would fizzle out, Chloe would go on to play an important part in Clark’s journey and the series at large.

In the intense season three finale of Smallville, Lionel Luthor is arrested and denied bail for the murder of his parents. Chloe Sullivan is the star witness, having recorded Lionel’s confession on her voicemail.

Initial word from the first internal screenings of Superman was not especially positive, but reports from more recent test-screenings of James Gunn's Dcu reboot definitely sounded more optimistic.
