All of the marketing promises that Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, out today for digital streaming, is the final chapter of the DC Animated Movie Universe. Similar to Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame wrapping up a decade’s worth of stories, this too brings everything to a cosmic climax, the likes of which have not been attempted before. The largely successful effort clocks in at 90 minutes, making for the longest film yet in the 38 animated features from Warner Animation.

The film opens with John Constantine (Matt Ryan), now a full-fledged member of the League, in bed with Zatanna (Camilla Luddington), a moment of bliss before impending doom. The language and graphic violence definitely make this inappropriate for the youngest viewers so parents are forewarned.

If those weren’t enough, the talented folks behind these flicks have one more ace up their sleeve, that being Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. For those not up to speed, they should know this’ll be an original tale developed for the direct-to-video market, as opposed to an adaptation of any specific comic book. With Batman: Hush now in our rearview mirror (you can check out our review for that one here), our attention now turns toward the next major entry in the hallowed library of DC animated movies. If you’ve been keeping up with recent news, then you know that to be Wonder Woman: Bloodlines.

To bring those late to the party up to speed, know this flick does indeed follow the New 52-inspired continuity begun by Justice League: War – but it’s set earlier on the timeline. From the look of it, we could consider it animation’s answer to Wonder Woman: Year One, though I must be quick to point out this isn’t an adaptation of Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott’s work on the comic book side. I mean, it’s possible some cues could be taken from the book, but this is an original story.

Odd as it may seem, a certain Amazon Warrior hasn’t actually headlined an animated film of her own since 2009’s Wonder Woman. She’s played a huge part in numerous direct-to-video Justice League flicks in the time since, sure, but it’s probably safe to say her fanbase has been waiting with bated breath for some sort of followup.

Thankfully, the hiatus will end later this year once Wonder Woman: Bloodlines arrives on home video. According to a first look featurette included on the Batman: Hush Blu-ray (stay tuned to We Got This Covered for our full review pertaining to that one), this tale will indeed fall in line with the New 52-inspired continuity started with Justice League: War – but it’ll take place earlier in Diana’s superhero career.

Burbank, CA – Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, in partnership with DC, are currently in production on five new DC Showcase animated shorts for release in 2019-2020.

Inspired by characters and stories from DC’s robust portfolio, the all-new series of shorts will be included on upcoming DC Universe Movies releases, with exception of an innovative Batman: Death in the Family long-form animated short, which will anchor a compilation set for distribution in late 2020.

Each of the five shorts – entitled Sgt. Rock, Adam Strange, Death, The Phantom Stranger and Batman: Death in the Family – opens with a new, live-action branding sequence that features a few Easter Eggs specially added for observant fans.

Sgt. Rock is executive produced and directed by Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series) from a script by award-winning comics writers Louise Simonson & Walter Simonson and Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen). The original tale finds battle-weary Sgt.

In today’s TV roundup, Netflix has dropped the first trailer for “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2” starring Kiernan Shipka, and former “O.C.” star Rachel Bilson has been cast in Fox’s drama pilot “Lovestruck.”

Former “O.C.” star Rachel Bilson is set to play the female lead in Fox’s new drama pilot “Lovestruck.” The show, which comes from creator Tom Kapinos, takes place during a single night as a series of events unfold during the leading lady’s wedding. The show will also star Kathleen Turner, Andie MacDowell, and Richard Roxburgh.

Oakley Bull, who played Timothee Chalamet’s sister in “Beautiful Boy” and will appear in the upcoming “Wonder Woman 1984,” has been cast in Fox’s comedy pilot “Geniuses.” The multi-camera series follows a blue-collar couple in South Jersey as they raise four kid-geniuses. Maggie Lawson will also star in the show as the family’s headstrong mom.

WonderCon returns to the Anaheim Convention Center from March 29-31, bringing some of the biggest superhero and other genre-specific television to Southern California. It's crazy to think that we are already coming up on the sixth season of DreamWorks Animation's Voltron Legendary Defender. This is one of the best animated series on right now. Good Shepherd Entertainment has released a new trailer for Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, the upcoming adventure game from co-developers Dim Bulb Games and Serenity Forge. DreamWorks Animation has released the first trailer for Season 2 of their Netflix animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender. If you haven't watched the first season yet, you should do that because it's really good and fantastically entertaining, especially if you're a fan of the original '80s Voltron series.

It's great that the series is getting a second season and it looks like it picks up where season one left off.
