Lionsgate, led by CEO Jon Feltheimer, released its second quarter financials amid continuing strategic talks where the media giant may sell or spinoff its premium cable and streaming platform or its studio business.
The Hollywood studio saw overall revenue hit $1.01 billion, which beat a Zacks Consensus Estimate for $990 million in revenues. Lionsgate also narrowed its net loss to $887.9 million, against a year-earlier net loss of $1.8 billion, due to the impact of non-cash goodwill and intangible asset writedowns and restructuring charges in the media networks division. That included one-time charges related to Starz leaving Latin America and the UK as the streaming platform looks to focus on Canada and India beyond the core U.S. market.
Feltheimer on an after-market analyst call welcomed the tentative deal between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP. “I want to start by saying that we’re very pleased that the strikes are over, with a fair and equitable resolution for all parties,...

Everyone, get out your swords and sandals because we're heading back to the arena! Starz has just announced that it is currently developing a new "Spartacus" series! Forgive the excessive use of exclamation points, but I loved every minute of this show from the first moment to the last, including the prequel "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena."
The first season of the series was entitled "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" and debuted in 2010. Before the second season, star Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with early-stage non-Hodgkin lymphoma, leading to the prequel to give him time to recover. Sadly, he passed away, and the role was recast with Liam McIntyre for season 2, "Spartacus: Vengeance" and season 3, "Spartacus: War of the Damned."
The show was, as our title says, very sexy. Still, it was also a compelling drama about the titular Thracian gladiator who led a revolt of enslaved people against the Roman empire.

"When I was young, I fought to survive. But with time, everything changed..." Vertical Entertainment has debuted a trailer for an action film titled The Veil, set in a "war-torn land where tribal factions live in fear of annihilation." Cuban actor William Levy stars as a deadly warrior who is betrayed and left for dead by his own tribe. He is healed by a mysterious princess and taken in by a secret tribe, only to go back and wage war against his own people. This seems like one of those cliche "tribal battle" movies that doesn't have much to offer. The cast includes Serinda Swan, William Moseley, Nick Tarabay, Adam Gregory, and Billy Blair. I don't feel like anyone actually watches these kind of action movies anymore, but what do I know? A new promo poster and photo of an action figure has surfaced online for the new Gypsy Avenger jaeger that will be introduced in Steven S. DeKnight's Pacific Rim: Uprising. This is basically an upgraded version of the Gypsy Danger that we saw in Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim.
There's a good chance that this jaeger will be the one piloted by John Boyega's character Jake Pentecost and Scott Eastwood as Nate Lambert. On top of the design of the Gypsy Avenger, the poster also reveals some specs for the jaeger, which includes 2.0 versions of the Elbow Rockets and the Chain Sword that we saw used in the first version of the Gypsy Danger.
The Gypsy Avengers also includes and Airborne Launch System and a dual vortex turbine in its chest. That's gotta give this thing some wicked power as the Gypsy Danger only has a single turbine.

Arrow is staging a sisterly showdown.
Katrina Law will return to the CW drama as Nyssa al Ghul for a multi-episode arc, culminating in an epic fight between the former League of Assassins leader and her half-sister Talia al Ghul (Lexa Doig) in the Season 5 finale, EW.com reports.

"Cascade" delivers the episode I wanted last week and does it very well. The Expanse Season 2 Episode 10 begins with the crew of The Rocinante arriving on Martian-occupied Ganymede station and starting their search for Mei Meng and Dr. Strickland.
Prax Meng: "How many people have you killed?"
Amos Burton: "I’m not sure."

These days, DC TV crossovers are epic, status quo changing events taking place over several nights, but the first Arrow/The Flash mashup saw Oliver Queen and Barry Allen joining forces to take on Nick Tarabay’s Captain Boomerang.
Imprisoned at the end of the two-parter by the Green Arrow, he’s not been seen since, something which can likely be blamed on a big screen version of the villain being introduced by Jai Courtney in Suicide Squad last August. However, as you can see below, Tarabay has taken to Twitter to tease a return to the DC TV Universe. When and where he’ll show up isn’t clear, but it definitely appears as if he’s coming back in the near future.
Fans of the comic books will know that Boomerang most frequently clashes with the Scarlet Speedster, but considering the fact that he served more as an antagonist for the Emerald Archer,...

“The Weeping Somnambulist” is taking its name off a humanitarian supply ship en-route to aid in the relief effort for Ganymede Station at the beginning of this chapter.
The opening of The Expanse Season 2 Episode 9 doesn’t hesitate to remind you there are large and looming questions this season.
What really happened on Ganymede—during the Earth-Mars military engagement And prior to those events?
And what is happening on Venus since Eros crashed there?
The title is a wordier way of saying “a crying sleepwalker" and that is almost an omen for how well-answered the lingering questions will be in this chapter.
Yes—the characters are all moving around the board, but they really won’t be passing “Go” just yet.
Well, this ship is a Grade-a piece of s*** but she’ll get us to Ganymede. I wouldn’t bet on it in a race, though…

It's no secret that I hated Pacific Rim with every fibre of my being, but even I'm pretty intrigued by the upcoming sequel. Directed by former Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, the movie stars John Boyega as the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost, and as you can see from the new set photos below, it appears as if he's going to be a Jaeger pilot. He's certainly rocking the right sort of costume anyway! Beyond that, they don't reveal much, but there's a lot of blue screen being used. Pacific Rim: Uprising also stars Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian, Nick E. Tarabay, and Rinko Kikuchi. It was recently reported that Karl Urban had joined the cast, but the actor later took to Twitter to deny those claims (though we've heard that before). The movie is currently set to be released on February 23rd, 2018.

After a disappointing first half to Castle season 8, things are looking up. Could Castle finally be getting its old groove back?
This review contains spoilers.
8.10 Witness For The Prosecution & 8.11 Dead Red
Last week, we Castle diehards finally caught a real break. Not only did we get back-to-back episodes, but the episodes we got were largely what we love about the show: a good mystery, a little spice, and most importantly, the gang together and firing on all cylinders… even when they don’t.
The “when they don’t” come in early in Witness For The Prosecution when we find out that Rick witnessed a murder a few months before and is set to testify as the one eyewitness in what seems a slamdunk case. It’s the morning of, and Beckett is in her familiar role of trying to rein Castle in, explaining to him that his...

[Whispers] Is ABC’s Castle on a bit of a roll…?
Season 8 resumed last week with a musically frothy episode that also highlighted the faux feud between “estranged” marrieds Rick and Kate. That was followed by a special (if missed/little-watched) Sunday outing that served up a twisty case and measurable Caskett goodness.
Then, this Monday — the third new episode in eight days — delivered arguably the best guest star (Spartacus‘ Nick Tarabay) since “The Nose” while also bringing back Rick’s stepmother for a first meeting that was surprisingly moving.

It seems that many actors who once starred on Starz’ Spartacus series are destined to don a cape, cowl or supervillain moniker and head to the CW. So far, Arrow has employed several actors from the series, including Manu Bennett as Deathstroke, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller, Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul and Nick Tarabay as Captain Boomerang. Now, Arrow‘s sister series, The Flash is upping the ante by casting Spartacus himself, Liam McIntyre.
Mcintyre will appear in the 15th and 16th episodes of the series’ first season as Mark Mardon, the Weather Wizard. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, considering we’ve already seen Mardon’s brother Clint on the series, played by Chad Rook in the pilot episode. As it turns out, Clint’s fate was less ambiguous than we initially thought, and his brother is heading to Central City to cook up a storm of his own.

As team Arrow finally catches up to the boomerang-wielding Villain, they find that he is more than a match for them. Luckily for Oliver and friends though, they have unexpected help from the Flash, which brings the two heroes into another team-up to stop this dangerous Foe.
Verdict:
I was wondering if this second half of the Flash/Arrow crossover event would be similar or better than it’s first part and after watching The Brave and the Bold I would say that it is just as good but delivered something quite different to what ‘Flash vs. Arrow’ gave us.

With a strong part 1 with Tuesday night’s The Flash, last night’s part 2 with Arrow was just as entertaining as Team Flash visited Starling City to help Team Arrow stop the dangerous Captain Boomerang (guest star Nick Tarabay). Despite how much I really enjoyed and cherished the first part, the second hour of the crossover was somewhat a few steps better and it’s not to take anything away from “Flash Vs Arrow”. To me, “The Brave and the Bold” completes the whole crossover so both parts were remarkable. So after seeing our heroes having gone up against each other, we see them work together as we dealt with the deadly and dangerous Boomerang. To begin with, even though I enjoyed Rainbow Raider in “Flash Vs Arrow”, Boomerang was somewhat more developed and focused on. Boomerang is one of those characters that has really improved in the comic books with…...

A review of tonight's "Arrow" (part 2 of "The Flash" crossover) coming up just as soon as I call you "sweetie" because I want something... Yesterday, I noted that "Flash vs. Arrow" did a nice job of functioning as an episode of "The Flash" that just happened to feature appearances by Oliver, Felicity and Diggle. The tone fit that show, the story was mostly self-contained (save for some teases about Captain Boomerang and the investigation into Sara's murder), and even the notion of a battle between two superheroes (one of them mind-controlled) seemed more appropriate in that show than it might have in "Arrow." "The Brave and the Bold"(*), meanwhile, felt like an "Arrow" episode that was making some extra room for the guy with the super speed. As such, it was a bit darker and more angst-y than "The Flash" is — though I really appreciated the moment where Barry compares...

On the heels of Suicide Squad's cast announcement, I have a bittersweet taste in my mouth. While I do like the thought of Jared Leto, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and others portraying some of the baddest villains out there, I have a foul taste in my mouth. "What about the television actors?" I think, remembering the solid performances of Michael Rowe as Deadshot on Arrow. The same can be said for many other actors in the DC universe right now, such as Nick Tarabay, who recently made his debut as Captain Boomerang on Flash. Not long after his debut, it was announced that his former Spartacus cast mate Jai Courtney will be playing the same character in Suicide Squad.
The move was reminiscent of the announcement of Ezra Miller being cast as The Flash the same day the second episode ratings were announced for the television show starring Grant Gustin.

So now we’ve got most of the Suicide Squad movie cast – Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg (who probably won’t be turning into Bane), Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jared Leto as The Joker and maybe – just maybe – Oprah Winfrey as Amanda Waller. Jai Courtney will be playing Captain Boomerang, not to be confused with Nick Tarabay, who plays the part on the Arrow and Flash teevee series.
