With the recent live-action adaptation of the original animated series drawing fans back into the saga, the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is once again raging among worldwide audiences at full intensity. That said, Atla fans are now revisiting some of the most jaw-dropping scenes of the original animated series from 2005.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Out of all of those star-studded action sequences, there is one specific scene that has caught fans’ attention once again: The moment when Aang and Ozai get into a ferocious brawl during the final battle, i.e. the battle at the Wulong Forest. And, as expected, they have fallen all the more in love with the Atla universe because of the same.
Aang vs Ozai: The Breathtaking Brawl at the Wulong Forest
In The Last Airbender, the battle at the Wulong Forest was the final battle that put an end to the Hundred Year War.

The long wait is over: Patricia Arquette finally explained David Lynch’s “Lost Highway.” Kind of.
“I would ask David: ‘Am I playing two characters, am I playing a ghost?’ He would say: ‘What do you think, Patrish?’ It’s a woman looked at through the distorted view of a psychotic misogynist,” she said at Series Mania.
“He hates women, he doesn’t quite trust her, even though she is his wife. He kills her but can’t remember it, then he recreates himself as this virile young man and meets her again. And now, she actually wants to fuck him and she is in love with him. But even in this version, she is a dirty whore.”
“In this man’s mind, a woman is always the monster. No matter what. I thought about Jezebel and Salomé for this part, all these bad girls of the Bible.”

It appears Olivia Rodrigo’s team has had a change of heart after morning-after pills and condoms were handed out at her St. Louis Guts Tour stop.
According to reports that surfaced on Friday, Rodrigo’s team told the abortion funds that she has partnered with for future tour stops that they are no longer allowed to hand out contraceptives.
“The #GUTSWorldTour is asking abortion funds not to bring emergency contraception (EC), condoms, or lube to tour stops,” DC Abortion Fund communications manager Jade Hurley said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We hope to see this change before DC’s date on July 20th.”
Even if the DC organization isn’t allowed to hand out contraceptives at the summer show, it shared on X (formerly Twitter) that it has no issue distributing Plan B for free outside of the venue. “GUTSWorldTour ticket-holders Or Not: See you July 20th outside Capital One!

Elvis Presley‘s Graceland is one of the most iconic private homes in the United States. For 42 years, the King of Rock and Roll’s private residence has been a mecca for music fans worldwide. However, some of the home’s most iconic rooms weren’t always open to the public and were considered off-limits to tourists. Here are the areas within Graceland that fans didn’t get to see.
Graceland’s downstairs area was open to fans except for two rooms
When Graceland opened for public tours in 1982, only some areas of the home were viewable. Initially, the mansion tour consisted of the living room, music room, dining room, TV room, pool room, and the trophy building.
The trophy building consisted of his gold record collection, awards, costumes, gun collection, and several other pieces of memorabilia. Fans were able to see Elvis Presley’s cars and motorcycles, which were lined up in the carport.

British horror cinema has a long-standing tradition of producing some of the best anthologies of all time, in particular in the era of Hammer, Tigon et al. So when a new anthology comes along it can be hard to separate it from history and tradition. But with Midnight Peepshow, filmmakers Andy Edwards, Airell Anthony Hayles, Ludovica Musumeci and Jake West actually tap into British cinematic history, setting their film in the formerly sleazy streets of London’s Soho – a place where, once upon a time, sex and cinema were often intertwined.

On Thursday, November 9th, Gmg Group CEO Jim Spanfeller announced that he was shutting down the women-centric website Jezebel, after failing to find a buyer. After 16 years, six editors-in-chief, four presidential administrations, tens of thousands of posts, hundreds of internet shitstorms, and at least one gallery of digital illustrations of the penises of Walt Disney princes, one of the internet’s last remaining stalwarts of Web Feminism was to fall silent.

The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering 2001 Maniacs was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Robert Englund doing a demented Colonel Sanders impression. Lin Shaye putting on a deadly song and dance routine. Enough politically incorrect elements to offend pretty much everybody. Buckets of gore. Gratuitous nudity. And a cameo appearance by Eli Roth, playing his Cabin Fever character. Put all of this together and you get 2001 Maniacs (watch it Here). The director calls it a “splatstick” movie. Splatter combined with slapstick comedy. We call it The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Herschell Gordon Lewis was a classy guy, but he specialized in making movies that were not classy. His aim was to give the grindhouse and drive-in crowds the things Hollywood wasn’t giving them. Noting...

After Elvis Presley‘s death in August 1977, it was the Presley family’s wish that his suite of upstairs rooms remain untouched. Elvis’ bedroom, dressing area, office, and bathroom are the same as the fateful day the king of rock and roll died. However, there are some items have been removed. Here are the details.
The items that are no longer in Elvis Presley’s sealed bedroom
Elvis Presley’s sudden death on Aug. 16, 1977, occurred in the master suite bathroom in Graceland. The room was attached to his bedroom.
The entertainer was found unconscious by then-fiance Ginger Alden. She called for help, and Elvis was rushed to Baptist Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m.
After Elvis’ death, the family sealed off his suite of rooms, leaving them exactly as they were on that fateful day. When Graceland opened for tours in 1982, the upstairs was off-limits to visitors.

Tl;Dr:
Elvis Presley’s “Hard Headed Woman” could only get played on the BBC with special permission. The song was offensive at the time, and it would be offensive today for completely different reasons. It became a hit in the United Kingdom twice: once in the 1950s and once in the 2000s.
Elvis Presley‘s “Hard Headed Woman” wouldn’t turn heads today. Despite this, the track was considered so offensive it was almost banned by the BBC. That didn’t stop it from gaining notoriety.
Elvis Presley’s ‘Hard Headed Woman’ has Bible references the BBC considered offensive
“Hard Headed Woman” is an early Elvis track that has the typical unpolished, upbeat sound of 1950s rock. It sounds a lot like “Jailhouse Rock.” The song is about how “hard headed” women have been the downfall of men from the beginning of time.
Memorably, the song includes a number of references to Bible stories.

Anita Rocha da Silveira’s genre-bending tale of masked religious vigilantes is a genre film with something to say
With its squishy synth soundtrack, candy-coloured teen environs and role-playing girl-gang violence, this second feature from Brazilian writer-director Anita Rocha da Silveira feels like a time-warped precursor to Heathers, Clueless and The Neon Demon. It’s a satirical nightmare inspired by the giallo of Dario Argento, fired by the rise of former president Jair Bolsonaro’s reactionary populism and campily refracted through the televangelising aesthetic of The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Having racked up a string of international festival prizes since premiering at Cannes in 2021, Medusa builds on the promise of Da Silveira’s genre-subverting 2015 feature debut, Kill Me Please, confirming its creator as a killer talent to watch.

‘The Perfect Find’ Review: Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers Charm in Fashion-Forward Netflix Swooner
Fashionista Jenna Jones (Gabrielle Union) took quite the tumble from her position in New York’s world of style. In “The Perfect Find” — Netflix’s visually vibrant, cinema-loving, if not quite perfect, rom-com — her professional and romantic plummet is documented in opening credits that cleverly use an animated collage to relate her story.
So, when we meet Jenna in person ,she’s without a job, and her man (D.B. Woodside) of 10 years has moved on … or so it seems. The 40-year-old is sporting baggy sweats, and not because she’s headed to the gym. She’s been living in her parents’ home licking her wounds, for a year, when her mother calls her out on it. The scene between mother (Janet Hubert) and grown-ass daughter is amusing and promising. As are the musical and visual choices director Numa Perrier makes that evoke Old Hollywood in a film with characters decidedly not Old Hollywood.

Dolly Parton grew up with a devoutly religious mother and a grandfather who was a preacher. He was the inspiration for her song, “Daddy Was an Old Time Preacher Man,” and he really did preach “hell so hot that you could feel the heat.” When Parton began experimenting with her look, her Grandpa Jake did not approve.
Dolly Parton’s Grandpa Jake was convinced the devil was dressing his granddaughter
Parton believes she got much of her love for God and music from her grandfather.
“In return, I gave him a fit when it came to my tight clothes, bleached hair, and makeup,” she wrote in her first memoir, Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business. “He was just sure I was doomed to hell.”
He’d call her “Jezebel,” then shake his head and say: “Lord, the devil must have made you wear your clothes that way and bleach your hair like that.

Check out The Wounded Storyteller, E. T. A. Hoffmann’s classic tales of Gothic horror and fantasy are presented in a new translation accompanying the beguiling drawings of Natalie Frank.
“E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776–1822) was one of the greatest German Romantic authors of fantasy and a pioneer in the genre we now call Gothic horror. His innovative stories explore ideas of madness, genius, doppelgängers, artificial intelligence, and the boundaries between realities and dreams. Artist Natalie Frank and leading fairy-tale scholar Jack Zipes have joined forces in this lavishly illustrated volume of five of Hoffmann’s most influential tales: The Golden Pot, The Sandman, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, The Mystifying Child, and The Mines of Falun. In addition to offering fresh translations, Zipes introduces the project and sheds light on how Hoffmann’s lifetime of personal traumas shaped his writing.”

For an Order that was supposed to kill all the Jedi, it seems like there were quite a few misfires during Order 66.
“Order 66 is one of Star Wars’ most defining moments—even before we knew its name and the intricacies of its machinations, we have known since the very beginning of the saga that there were once thousands of Jedi Knights, only for them to be systemically eradicated by the Empire. But even as Star Wars has detailed this moment more and more, it’s also revealed more and more Jedi that slipped through the Empire’s grip.”

Tom Shadyac's 1997 comedy film "Liar Liar" had a light supernatural concept: Fletcher Reed, a typical Hollywood Workholic Dad constantly lies to his family and clients in order to succeed in life. As a lawyer, lying is handy. As a father, however, lying gets him in trouble with his five-year-old son, Max (Justin Cooper). As such, the child makes a birthday wish, longing that his dad cannot lie for just one day. The wish comes true.
What follows is a comedic showcase for star Jim Carrey to put his talents for physical comedy on display. The actor hilariously mugs and thrashes about in agony as Fletcher's newfound truthfulness gets him in various amounts of trouble. In one case, he cannot lie to exonerate a dishonest client. In another, he says openly lascivious things to a woman on the elevator. He gets slapped in the face and even arrested for his comments.

Sofia Coppola knows what it's like to be a celebrity kid. The daughter of director Francis Ford Coppola has mostly kept her two kids, Romy and Cosima Mars, out of the spotlight throughout the years. "I don't want them ever to be jaded," Sofia told The Guardian in 2017 on why she shields her kids from the public eye. "I never saw the point of taking little kids to movie premieres and stuff. I just want them to have a childhood."
Things changed, however, when Romy recently shared a TikTok explaining that she'd been grounded for trying to charter a helicopter. "Make a vodka sauce pasta with me because I'm grounded because I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad's credit card because I wanted to have dinner with my camp friend," Romy says in the March 21 video. According to the “Glow” actress, the two have “worked together enough now” that even intimate scenes “[don’t] make Dave and I uncomfortable.”
Brie’s comments came while discussing the couple’s new movie “Somebody I Used to Know” with Jezebel. The rom-com, starring Brie, was co-written by the two and directed by Franco.

Brie explained: “The second movie that we did together ever, as actors, was Jeff Baena’s ‘The Little Hours’, and in that movie, Dave has make-out or sex scenes with three other actors and me. So, I just feel like that was the ripping of the band-aid.”

In the new Whitney Houson biopic I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Houston’s mother has police escort her daughter from her home (in front of her young daughter, Bobbi Kristina) after finding Houston in a drug-fueled stupor following her father’s death. We next see Houston in tranquil recovery at a rehab center, and later, a recreation of her emotional comeback performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009. The film excises most of the 2000s from Houston’s story, including her starring role in 2005’s disturbing reality series Being Bobby Brown.

Anne Hathaway has reflected on the influx of online hatred she experienced in the wake of her 2013 Oscar win.
The Les Misérables star had faced widespread online vitriol, with many criticising her for a percieved “annoying” earnestness.
The backlash against Hathaway has since come to be referred to by the portmanteau “Hathahate”, and has increasingly been seen as a product of misogyny.
Speaking at Elle’s Women in Hollywood event on Tuesday (18 October), Hathaway opened up about her experiences at length, discussing her familiarity with “the language of hatred”.
“Ten years ago, I was given an opportunity to look at the language of hatred from a new perspective,” she said on stage at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.
“When your self-inflicted pain is suddenly somehow amplified back at you at, say, the full volume of the internet… It’s a thing.”
Later in the speech, she continued: “When what happened,...

In recent years, there has been a campaign of sorts to stress the universality of so-called “Black stories.” One reason for that pitch is it’s meant to draw non-Black audiences and eschew the more-reductive “Black films” categorization.
IndieWire spoke to multiple Black filmmakers, on and off the record, about the “Black film” terminology: Is it limiting? Does it pigeonhole creators? The responses were as varied as the people who answered the questions. Some embraced being identified as “Black artists,” defined by a shared experience that’s inextricable from who they are. Others found it limiting, preferring to foreground their creativity over race or ethnicity.
As conversations go, it’s a minefield. Many are unwilling to tread on that ground, but perhaps that’s exactly why it needs to be had.

Recently, CBS served up the very first official description/spoiler teasers for their upcoming "NCIS" premiere episode 1 of the new season 15 via a press release! It sounds like things will be really intense to start off the season. The D.C. team will be working nonstop to locate Gibbs and McGee in the deep Paraguay jungle. Torres and Vance have to attend a congressional hearing and more. The premiere episode 1 is titled, "House Divided." We'll go ahead and start things off with the Gibbs and McGee storyline. They made sure to put this storyline in all caps. So, it sounds like the episode will certainly focus heavily on them. They tell us that their storyline is going to pick up two months after they were last spotted fighting an elusive group of rebels in a Paraguay jungle. The D.C. NCIS team will be working tirelessly to try to track...

Warning: There are major Don't Breathe spoilers below. Last week I wrote about Don't Breathe's instantly-notorious turkey baster scene, in which the psychotic "Blind Man" (Stephen Lang) ties Rocky (Jane Levy) up in a harness, cuts a hole in her pants and announces his intention to impregnate her with a turkey baster full of his semen. When I first watched the film-- which just topped the North American box office for the second week in a row -- the brutally-tense moment had me physically squirming in my seat, which is obviously the reaction Alvarez intended to provoke. As Rocky screams and struggles in horror, the Blind Man also, incredibly, announces: "I'm not a rapist." Which, of course, he is. Since Don't Breathe's release, the baster scene has been widely lauded by critics as a daring bit of provocation by the film's director Fede Alvarez, and for better or...

Ae-fave hunk Alan Ritchson is headed to Hawaii Five-0, Zap2It reports. Ritchson will play a sweet Navy Seal who was a drinking buddy of Steve, which just sounds like a great way to start a triangle for McDanno.
I've been amazed at how much I've enjoyed TBS' King of the Nerds. You have some true geeks in the cast instead of people who just live up to central casting's idea of a nerd. Sure, the humor isn't completely nerdy (though Dr. Mid-Nite was one of the answers in a challenge) but it does a good job celebrating nerd culture, so it's great news that TBS has ordered a second season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it can avoid that sophomore slump so many reality shows face.

White Collar returns tonight. Neal needs to stop looking so hot when he's feeling distrustful,
it only encourages people to do distrustful things to him.

I've been watching the right try to claim that Downton Abbey is a conservative show. Jonah Goldberg wrote about it a couple weeks back and now Fox & Friends repeated that Downton challenges how "rich people... are reviled". Wow. That just says so much about how little they pay attention to everything. I'll be willing to consider that idea when Lord Grantham orders Mrs. Patmore to start using questionable ingredients when she cooks for the staff so that he can afford to have fancier wines with dinner.
Fox's ads for The Following broke a rule for television and asked viewers to watch the show on the DVR. Vulture explains what this means and how its another step in changing how viewers watch TV and how the industry responds to it.

If the Mad Men gif wall from the other day didn't tip you off, gifs have taken over Pajiba. To celebrate, here's a comprehensive guide to all the major gifs you'll need to know now that Dustin has been overthrown by a constantly looping image file of James Van Der Beek crying. (Jezebel)
Here's another installment of "Shitty movie plots recreated using blurbs from negative reviews" featuring Life As We Know It! Okay, yeah, I think the term they used is "scathing" but shut up, we have a monopoly on scathing reviews goddammit. That Is Our Turf. (Film Drunk)
I know, I know, I linked to a quiz about boxing before, but this one is actually about boxing movies (i.e. Raging Bull, Rocky, etc.) which means that once again I don't have a shot in hell. (Litely Salted)
For those who thought that Taylor Momsen was so super hardcore and rock 'n roll.

Plus we meet The Gossip Queens, John Amaechi refused entry, and Cody Daigle's A Home Across the Ocean prepares to open.
Scott Evans attends something wearing a highly questionable outfit.
If you haven't gotten around to watching the True Blood finale (like me), it's still safe to read this interview with the out Denis O'Hare. Most telling is that he doesn't see his character as a villain: In my mind, he’s not the villain. He’s the hero. I play him like a hero. He has his agenda, and his agenda is correct. He has people he loves and he has desires and needs. If you look at it from his point of view — if Eric, Sookie, and Bill are the villains — they do terrible things to him. They double-cross him, they lie to him, they use him. They kill his lover of 700 years. They take from him, then spurn his offerings.

It's 80's week here on Pajiba, which means I need to try and find as many 80's themed links as I possibly can, despite never having been alive during the 80's (*Evil Laugh*). Anyway, in honour of the decade that fashion forgot, let's all check out the Ghostbusters quiz and remember what the 80's were actually good for: Movies. (Litely Salted)
And for added 80's nostalgia, check out this mash-up of great movie dancing with the obligatory Kenny Loggins Footloose playing throughout. One small gripe here: High School Musical? Really? (Film Drunk)
Awwwwwww shiiiiiiiit. It's a cover-off! Alright everyone, who had the best Rolling Stone Cover: Mad Men or True Blood? Remember to show all your work; you'll get partial credit for it. (Evil Beet)
Oh, wait, never mind; Jezebel found all the little things that got photoshopped out of the cover. Ummmmm ... yay you guys? Oh what the fuck ever,...
