- Among his favorite film was Quadrophenia (1979), based on Quadrophenia (1979) rock opera of the same name. Similarly, two of Russo's own songs would inspire movies as well: Brazilian Western (2013) and Eduardo and Monica (2020).

- When Renato Russo arrives in Rio from Brasília, Distrito Federal, where he was created and where he began with his rock band "Legião Urbana", he made all success in Brazil, this band is until today one of the most important rock bands of Brazil.
- His first band was the Aborto Elétrico (Electric Abortion), beside Felipe Lemos and André Pretorius. It didn't last a lot, finishing because of fights between Felipe and Renato.
