The writers strike has entered its fifth week and is about to enter its second month and shows no sign of abating.
There were some high-profile reunions on the streets of Burbank today including the cast and crew of Ted Lasso, who were on the picket lines hours ahead of the series finale of their Apple comedy drama, and the team behind hit medical drama ER.
Jason Sudekis, who has been regularly walking the line outside Ted Lasso studio Warner Bros. Discovery, was joined by Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham and Nick Mohammed among others, who were originally in LA to attend a finale event before it was canceled as a result of the standoff.

Exclusive: Writers Guild of America West (Wgaw) is looking to boost visibility and champion Middle Easter voices with the newly formed Middle Eastern Writers Committee (Mewc).
The new committee will help bolster Middle Eastern writers within the film and television industry, while continuing to celebrate and promote accurate portrayals of Middle Eastern characters across the media landcape. To kick things off, Mewc has set their first event highlighting Middle Eastern representation between WGA members and a panel of guests featuring Ramy co-creator and star Ramy Youssef. The virtual event will take place Febraury 24 at 7Pm Pt.
The formation of the committee stems from the release of the guild’s 2020 Inclusion Report, which showed that, while most major non-white groups were underrepresented in TV and film relative to their share of the U.S. population, Middle Eastern writers had “almost no representation at all.” A mere 0.3% of working screen and TV writers identified as Middle Eastern.

The 15th annual Black List survey was revealed Monday December 16, and it includes 66 un-produced screenplays from up-and-coming literary talent. Results were pooled from a survey of more than 250 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to 10 favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2019 and will not have begun principal photography during this calendar year. This year, scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included on the Black List.
Since 2005, more than a third of the screenplays included in the annual Black List surveys have become produced films, and often to notoriety — such as “Argo,” “American Hustle,” “Juno,” “The King’s Speech,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Spotlight,” “The Revenants,” “The Descendants,” and “Hell or High Water.” Melina Matsoukas’s 2019 film “Queen & Slim,” written by Lena Waithe with a story co-authored by James Frey, was featured on the 2018 Black List.

Eighteen years after helping a motherless young girl get her life back together, Eve was resurrected in Sunday’s premiere of Life-Size 2 to help a slightly older, slightly less motherless young woman do the very same.

And then Eve drinks liquid butter and tries to pay a $12,485 shopping spree bill with a toy credit card, and we can’t really fight against the crazy argument.

Under Executive director Roger Durling, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival has flourished by riding the awards season wave via starry onstage interviews with Oscar contenders.
Every year, screenwriters, directors and producers promote their causes on panels, and the likes of Jeff Bridges (a local), Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, Denzel Washington, and Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams submit to in-depth tributes from Leonard Maltin and Pete Hammond, among others. This year I had the pleasure of a wide-ranging conversation with Best Actress Oscar-nominee Isabelle Huppert. (See video excerpts below.)
And Saturday, the festival wound up its 32nd edition by handing out its annual jury prizes. All eleven are listed below.
The Audience Choice Award went to Yonatan Nir’s “My Hero Brother,” which also took home the Best Documentary Award. It tells the story of a group of young people with Down syndrome who embarking on an arduous trek through the Himalayas.

After nearly three decades on the small screen, the hit reality series Cops is now looking to jump to the big screen. Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer is attached to direct and produce a feature adaptation of the series, which is currently in the midst of its 29th season airing on Spike TV. John Langley, who co-created and holds the rights to the series, will serve as a producer.
Deadline reports that the original Cops concept will be turned into an "edgy narrative feature" with a buddy cop angle, which is said to be similar to Lethal Weapon. Cameron Fay (Dance Camp) has come aboard to write the script, although no specific plot details were given at this time. Ruben Fleicher will produce alongside John Langley and David Bernard.

Bad boys, bad boys, what ya gonna do, what ya gonna do when they come for you? That’s the question that director Ruben Fleischer is hoping to answer with his next project, a feature film adaptation of the TV show Cops. That comes from Deadline, which says the film won’t be a 90-minute version of the traditional “camera operator rides along with some police officers” format. Instead, it’ll be “an edgy narrative feature with a buddy comedy bent on the order of a Lethal Weapon.” In other words, it doesn’t sound like it’ll be anything like Cops, but we assume it’ll be modeled after the show’s usual structure. Also, apparently Cops is a movie and Lethal Weapon is a TV show, because 2016 is pretty weird.

The Lego Movie may have turned out great, but that doesn’t mean that every kid’s toy should have its own film. According to Deadline, Envision Media Arts and Pez Candy have made an agreement to create an animated feature film about Pez dispensers and the candy they dispense. While no director has been confirmed, Envision has already nabbed Cameron Fay (Brother In Laws) to write the script. This comes after the news of Sony making a film about emojis, confirming that the trend of making everything into a movie is going strong.
Pez dispensers and candies were created in 1927 in Austria, but became a huge hit in the 50s when the company started making the dispensers into actual characters (such as Mickey Mouse) to appeal to kids. This, of course, then spawned dispensers with Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters to take over the world (or America,...

Well, it's not a remake story at least. There's a film coming. Based on Pez. Honestly.
The Lego Movie was (this is unavoidable) awesome. The fact that The Lego Movie has now given Hollywood the bright idea that every half-assed inanimate object (special note: there is an Emojis movie in the works) somehow deserves to be made into a movie with a nine figure budget is considerably less so.
Envision Media Arts is supposedly going to make a movie based on Pez. Do you know what Pez is? It's the sweets that look like, well, bricks. Sugar-filled bricks. But it tastes like a mixture of soap and chalk. The best thing about Pez is the distinctive spring-loaded dispensers, which often feature familiar characters. You tilt the heads back and it dispenses an inedible sweets from its 'neck'.
And now there's a movie on the way. Let's just sit down and...

Envision Media Arts just signed a deal with candy company Pez to turn the property into an animated film. Cameron Fay, who wrote the upcoming "Brother in Laws," has been hired to write the screenplay. Pez candy was first sold 83 years ago in Vienna, Austria. Since then, the dispensers have become collectibles and interactive toys for children and more than 3 billion Pez candies are consumed annually in the Us. It's not the first time that a movie is being made about a product that doesn't have a storyline. We already got "Ouija" and Sony is working on an "Emoji" movie.

The Lego Movie really does have a lot to answer for. Hot on the heels of news of an Emoji movie, Deadline are reporting that Pez is the latest thing you’d think would never get a movie to get a movie, with the world famous candy dispensers becoming the focus of an animated feature. The Three Stooges and Brother in Law’s Cameron Fay will be penning the script, so it does have the potential to be a comedy, possibly of the 21 Jump Street meta variety, but really only time will tell. The sheer number of licenses, from Disney (with Marvel and Star wars being put underneath that umbrella) to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to The Simpsons, does suggest it could go down The Lego Movie route, but that is ignoring the main question here: why is it happening in the first place? Lego at least had a solid fanbase,...

Let's just cut to the chase: there's a recently-announced feature-length animated movie in the works based on the Austrian candy Pez and their mechanical pocket dispensers typically holding 12 pieces of candy. Much like the upcoming Emoji movie, it's easy to get cynical about such a revelation, and for good reason. There's no character, story or clear-sighted motivation to come from this other than market recognition and capitalistic tie-ins. That much is obvious. So let's see where exactly Envision Media Arts hopes to take this. According to a press release, it's going to simply center on "a world unique to Pez" and on "a story that will touch the hearts of many" including "children and adults alike" who find the dispensable candy "beloved." I take this all to mean producers Lee Nelson and David Buelow and screenwriter Cameron Fay (the upcoming Three Stooges sequel) are in the preliminary stages of this project (i.

Pez -- the candy dispenser toy that your weird uncle collects -- got a movie deal. Envision Media Arts has entered into an agreement with Pez Candy Inc. to bring those character heads to the big screen, with Cameron Fay ("The Three Stooges" 2012 movie) primed to pen the script. “Pez Candy is beloved by children and adults alike,” Ema CEO and founder Lee Nelson said in a statement. “With Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many.” So many questions. Which Pez will get cleared licenses? Which Pez characters will battle it out for Pez domination? Will they go for the Lego Movie model? Will Pez grow limbs? Is Scrooge McDuck -- The 1% -- the villain? Can a candy-spitting Batman finally have a fair fight with Superman, who also spits candy? Is Bozo The Clown still a bozo?...

We've already seen a movie based around Lego, while sometime soon we'll be sitting down to watch a Play-Doh film - and now Hollywood is turning to the popular candy dispenser Pez as inspiration for a big budget project.
The candy company confirmed today (August 3) that it is teaming up with Celeste & Jesse Forever production company Envision Media Arts to base a film around its products.
Brother in Laws scribe Cameron Fay has already been hired to bring the themed candy dispensers to the big screen.
Ema producer Lee Nelson said today: "Pez candy is beloved by children and adults alike. With Cameron Fay we've created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many."
Pez originated in Austria in 1927, and over the years has partnered with the likes of Hello Kitty, Star Wars and DC Comics to create popular candy lines.

If Lego can do it, then why not Pez? Envision Media Arts has teamed up with Pez Candy Inc. for an exclusive agreement that will result in an animated movie based on the spring-loaded candy containers with the flip-top heads. Cameron Fay, who helped script the 2012 The Three Stooges movie, is being tasked with writing the feature. Though, no plot details have been revealed at this time.
Lee Nelson and David Buelow are producing Pez for Ema. Gregg Rossen, Brian Sawyer and Jonathan Hung are responsible for bringing the project to the studio. They will executive produce alongside Ema's David Tish. No director has been attached at this time. And it isn't clear who will voice the characters, who may be, like The Lego Movie, based on several existing properties. Over the years, Pez has released toys for Disney, Star Wars, The Simpsons and more. They also have several...

Envision Media Arts (Ema) will develop the movie, with Cameron Fay (Brother in Laws) on board as writer. Ema CEO and founder Lee Nelson will produce along with the company’s president of TV and film, David Buelow.
“Pez Candy is beloved by children and adults alike, with Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many,” said Nelson.

Sweet! As some wise Legos once sang, "Everything is awesome," so that has to include a Pez movie. Right?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Envision Media Arts is developing an animated movie based on the Pez candy dispensers. Cameron Fay, who wrote the comedy "Brother in Laws," is writing the script. Ema CEO and founder Lee Nelson said, in a statement via TheWrap, "Pez candy is beloved by children and adults alike. No word yet on the movie's plot, but if you've ever seen those rows of Pez candies you can imagine they have a ton of characters to work with. I mean, Star Wars Pez could take on the Smurfs or form an alliance with the X-Men Pez to conquer the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or Bugs Bunny could fall...

Although it premiered to very mixed reviews and seemingly disappointing box office back in 2012, it appears there’s life in The Three Stooges yet. An independent production team is reuniting Larry (Sean Hayes), Curly (Will Sasso) and Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos) for more comedy madness in a sequel. While Dumb And Dumber duo Peter and Bobby Farrelly were the co-writers and directors last time, realising a long-held dream to bring the characters to a new audience, Variety’s story on the sequel makes no mention of either. Instead, Cameron Fay has been hired to write the script, which will apparently have more of an action comedy slant this time, with producers C3 Entertainment looking to add a big star into the mix.“With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges, and Cameron writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges,...

The Three Stooges didn.t make too much of a splash when it was released back in 2012. Not only did it only gross $50.4 million from its $30 million budget, but it was met with lukewarm reviews, as well. However, C3 Entertainment, Grand Peaks Entertainment, and The Exchange clearly still see some kind of potential in the comedy because the studios have banded together to order a sequel, which will bring its three leading actors, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso, back too. According to Deadline, Cameron Fay has been hired to write the follow-up, while it.s still not known if the Farrelly Brothers will return for joint director duties. However, as Bobby and Peter Farrelly wrote the original alongside Mike Cerrone before they then went on to direct, it.s highly unlikely that they will decide to step into the breach again, having not been given the responsibility of...

2012’s The Three Stooges is not a bad movie. It’s not a good one, but it’s nowhere near the wretched mess the trailers made it out to be. It’s a kids’ movie, but not one that’s painful to sit through if you’re an adult. The movie was a lot of goofy slapstick, and the film worked on its own merits. So while others may be groaning at the prospect of a sequel, I don’t mind that another Three Stooges movie is moving forwards. C3, Grand Peak, and The Exchange have announced that they’re creating a new Three Stooges, and that Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly), will reprise their roles and be joined by a major action star, who is Tba. I want you to picture Al Franken, shirtless, lingering on a desert island with a bunch of supermodels. Don't think about it too long, both because it's harmful to your brain and beacuse this mental image, thankfully, will never come to exist. But you must know that the almost-Senator from Minnesota wrote the pitch Don't Send Help along with Geoff Rodkey, and now, God save us, it's actually becoming a movie. Fox has hired screenwriting Cameron Fay to shape the script into something manageable, according to THR, with Soul Men director David Friendly on board as well. Friendly is stepping in for Andy Fickman, who presumably moved on to bigger and better things following Race to Witch Mountain's massive success. The whole pitch sounds like the definition of a one-note joke, and I'm not sure how much humor can really be wrung out of seeing a guy marvel at the...
