The Last Of US Season 2, Episode 5 Teaser Finally Introduces A Terrifying Threat From The Video Game

In this week's episode of The Last of Us season 2, "Day One," Ellie and Dina narrowly escape from a horde of infected, with Ellie taking a bite in the arm in order to protect the woman she loves.
Of course, Dina had been kept in the dark about Ellie's immunity, and was fully prepared to shoot her in the head to prevent her from becoming a ravenous killer. Fortunately, Ellie is able to convince Dina that she will not turn, and the latter expresses her relief by first telling Ellie that she is pregnant with Jesse's child, and then instigating their first roll in the hay.
The episode also featured a recreation of what has become almost an iconic moment from the game, as Ellie plays a rendition of Ah-ha's "Take On Me" for Dina after discovering a guitar in a run-down music shop.
"[In the show], it's like, I'm fully embracing not...

HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ dives deeper into its post-apocalyptic world with season 2, and one character stealing the spotlight is Isaac Dixon, played by Jeffrey Wright. If you’re wondering who this guy is and why he matters, let’s break it down. Isaac isn’t just another survivor—he’s a commanding figure whose presence shakes up the story, especially for Abby Anderson, a key player in this season.
Isaac Dixon leads the Washington Liberation Front, or Wlf, a militia group in Seattle. Known as the Wolves, they’re a heavily armed force fighting for control in a world ravaged by the Cordyceps infection. Isaac’s no hero, though. He’s a former Marine who turned against Fedra, the government agency running quarantine zones, after growing fed up with their harsh rule. His leadership helped the Wlf overthrow Fedra in Seattle, but freedom came at a cost. Isaac...

"Slowly. When we kill him, we kill him slowly."
As character introductions go, it doesn't get much more unnerving than Abby Anderson's debut in last night's season 2 premiere of The Last of Us. In a change to the Naughty Dog video game that's proven to be somewhat divisive, the show immediately explains why Abby is seeking revenge against the man who killed her father in the season 1 finale, Joel Miller.
Abby convinces her friends to help her track Joel down, but they decide to investigate a new faction (who will turn out to be the Washington Liberation Front/Wlf) first, and we don't see them again until the closing moments of "Future Days" when Abby's crew arrives to the outskirts of the Jackson settlement.

Okay, real talk—The Last of Us Season 1 didn’t just hit us in the feels; it flat-out ambushed our emotional well-being. One minute we were vibing with Joel and Ellie, and the next, we were questioning every ounce of morality we thought we had. And now, as Season 2 creeps around the corner like a clicker in the dark, all eyes are on two things: what’s next in this brutal saga… and what’s in the stars’ wallets.
Well, Pedro Pascal’s back with his daddy vibes dialed to eleven, Bella Ramsey’s bringing the sass and scars, and the tension? They’re higher than a giraffe in Salt Lake City. But hey, it’s the cast salaries that are raising eyebrows. So, if you’ve ever wondered what surviving the apocalypse pays, buckle up.

The Last of Us returns to HBO and Max on April 13 for its second season. The new chapter begins five years after the events of Season 1 and will introduce Abby, portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever. With over two years since the first season aired, the story’s key developments may not be fresh for all viewers.
Season 1 opened on September 26, 2013, the day the Cordyceps brain infection spread beyond containment. The fungus mutated and adapted to humans after the climate warmed. Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal), a contractor living in Austin, Texas, experienced the collapse first-hand. His daughter Sarah (Nico Parker) was killed by a soldier who mistook them for infected.
Two decades later, Joel lived in Boston’s Quarantine Zone, working in a militarized post-outbreak society run by Fedra. He accepted a job escorting Ellie Williams (Bella Ramsey), a teenager who appeared immune to the infection. Accompanied by Tess (Anna Torv), Joel left the zone.

At the end of season 1 of "The Last of Us" (the massively popular apocalyptic drama based on the similarly popular video game), Joel (Pedro Pascal) made a seemingly impossible choice. After transporting his young ward Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to a group of rebel Fireflies on the orders of their leader Marlene, Joel realizes something gutting. See, Ellie is immune to the cordyceps infection sweeping the world (which is turning the people it infects into bloodthirsty zombies), so the Fireflies assembled a team of medical professionals to see if they can use her genetic material to create a cure. In order to do this, Ellie has to die, and Joel, who lost his daughter Sarah (Nico Parker) at the very beginning of the game and show, can't bring himself to let Ellie give her life for this cause. Shooting his way through the makeshift hospital, Joel carries an unconscious Ellie out...

HBO recently debuted an intense full trailer for the second season of The Last of Us, and we now have a new poster and some promo stills to go with it.
The key art features returning protagonists Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), while the images spotlight several supporting characters as well as the season's new antagonist, Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).
Abby Anderson might well go down as one of the most despised video game characters in history (you'll find out why soon enough), and Dever was fully aware that taking on the role would open the door to a certain amount of backlash.
"Well, it's hard not to see those things on the internet," the Apple Cider Vinegar star tells Screen Rant. "It's hard not to stop myself from looking at it every once in a while, especially going into this, for sure. And I want to do this...

The new batch of episodes are scheduled to begin airing on April 13th – and ahead of that date, Variety has revealed the names of six new additions to the cast, including the great Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix). The actor, who is often referred to as “Joey Pants,” recently appeared on just one episode of Dexter: Original Sin as a character called Mad Dog, who exited way too soon. Here’s hoping he’ll be on The Last of Us for a while longer.
Pantoliano’s fellow new additions to the cast are Alanna Ubach (Euphoria), Ben Ahlers (The Gilded Age), Hettienne Park (Hannibal), Robert John Burke (RoboCop 3), and Noah Lamanna (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds). Details on their characters have not been revealed.

HBO's hit series The Last of Us has released a new trailer along with a release date for the upcoming Season 2. With the original series premiering almost two years ago in January 2023, viewers have patiently waited for any and all news regarding the second season, which is set to adapt the second video game, The Last of Us Part II. Now, a brief new teaser trailer has given us a new look at the upcoming series and the official release date, April 2025.
The Last of Us Part II was a game plagued by controversial discourse regarding its subject matter and characters, primarily due to story leaks after a hacker broke into the servers of Naughty Dog, the video game company that created the series. Many of the story choices in the video game have been heavily discussed to this day, making the upcoming second season, which will adapt it, all the more interesting.

Some cancellations always hurt more than others. That was certainly the case for the broadcast TV shows in 2024. We are still salty about some of those decisions.
We know that some TV shows have to come to an end. The writing is usually on the wall for some of them. The linear ratings are down, or the show just isn’t getting great reviews. However, this year, there were some cancellations that were completely unjustified. Or we lost great shows that just didn’t have the chance to find their audiences.
We’re taking a look back at 2024 and the TV cancellations that hurt the most. We’re not just sad; we’re salty. This is for broadcast only. There are some streaming cancellations that I absolutely hate!

There are very few comedies on TV now. This year has seen a few hits on NBC, but other networks have struggled.

Amazon's Prime Video has renewed its hit animated series Secret Level for a second season, hot on the heels of releasing more episodes from the highly rated first season. Which should probably be a surprise to absolutely no one, considering the series' Rotten Tomato score and audience reaction to the episodes we've thus far been served.
Set within the worlds of some of the most popular video games out there, Secret Level's adult-animated anthology series formula allows it to integrate stories from beloved franchises, such as Dungeons & Dragons, Sifu, New World, Unreal Tournament, Warhammer 40,000, Pac-Man, Crossfire, Armored Core, The Outer Worlds, Mega Man, and Honor of Kings. The series even created an episode around the canceled game Concord, as an ode to all the hard work that goes into creating these games and their worlds. The aims of the animated anthology Secret Level, whose 15 shorts are based on video and tabletop games, are clear enough: As production company Blur Studio puts it on their website, “Secret Level is our love letter to gaming.” But despite the tangible earnestness of that claim, the series fails to shake off the cynicism of its commercial function and blinkered politics. Beneath flashes of beauty and fits of inspiration lies an elaborate branding exercise.
Secret Level features a handful of shorts that conjure impressive moods. The bleak industrial landscapes in “Armored Core: Asset Management” all but subsume the episode’s protagonist (Keanu Reeves)—and the formidable mech he pilots—conveying the extent of his alienation and the stakes of his mission; the economical “Warhammer 40,000: And They Shall Know No Fear” spares us unnecessary dialogue, setting its space marines loose with sweltering kineticism; and the martial arts revenge tale of...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Last of Us Part II.
There are plenty of clues that The Last of Us season 2 will expand on the backstory of Jeffrey Wright’s character Isaac — and that could be a great thing for the show. Isaac is the ruthless leader of the Washington Liberation Front who overthrew Fedra and took over the Seattle quarantine zone. Although his journey began by liberating the people from their oppressive overlords, Isaac eventually became a corrupt warmonger in his own right. The Last of Us Part II only had time to hint at that fascinating story, but the TV show has the freedom to really explore it.
Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have already made one right move with Isaac by bringing back his original video game voice actor to play him in the HBO series. Wright gave a captivating performance in his couple...
