The honorable Klingon Kurn (Tony Todd) first appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Sins of the Father". In that episode, he revealed that he was the long-lost little brother of Worf (Michael Dorn), the only Klingon in Starfleet. Kurn had been living under a fake name, as his and Worf's father had been (falsely) accused of betraying a camp of Klingons to the Romulans years before. In Klingon society, a son is just as guilty as their parent, hence the episode's title. The crime in question was actually committed by the father of a character named Duras (Patrick Massett), who had covered up the crime and was now poised to sit on the Klingon High Council.

New York, Aug 15 (Ians) A group of scientists has identified genes linked to high production of a key antibody, which has the potential to advance manufacturing of antibody-based therapies for diseases such as cancer and arthritis.

A collaboration led by University of California-Los Angeles and the Seattle Children’s Research Institute yielded new knowledge about the genes responsible for the production and release of immunoglobulin G, the most common type of antibody in the human body.

Immunoglobulin G, or IgG, stores memories of past infections and tags dangerous microbes to be eliminated by immune cells. Mothers’ IgG is also vital for their newborns’ immune defense.

Scientists have known for decades that a population of white blood cells, called plasma B cells, make IgG. But the molecular mechanisms that enable plasma cells to secrete antibodies into the bloodstream are still not fully understood.

Cops in space. It's a neat idea, right? The concept is rich with potential, but it's surprising just how underused it's been. Gerry Anderson first approached it back in 1986, when he made a pilot for Space Police, which failed to sell and so remained unaired. The show starred Shane Rimmer (the voice of Scott Tracy in Anderson's Thunderbirds), and followed the exploits of a human cop working amongst aliens. For whatever reason, this incarnation of the show never saw the light of day, and remained buried for eight years.

In 1994, the series resurfaced with a new title, new actors, new aliens, and a less comedic tone. Space Precinct 2040 was a standard police show – crimes are committed; our plucky heroes chase the perps down – but transferred to Demeter City,...
