Charlie Cox was little-known British actor in 2011, working his craft in various BBC TV series and short films, when he landed his breakthrough role in HBO's historical crime-drama Boardwalk Empire. However, it would be five more years before he was cast as Matt Murdock in Marvel and Netflix's first big superhero series: Daredevil, which begins production for its third season in October.
Daredevil became one of Netflix's biggest hits, and led the way for future Marvel series like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and soon The Punisher. Cox is in the unique position of having watched each of these Marvel series constructed from the ground-up, observing fan and media buzz, and participating in a full-blown pop-culture phenomenon. So, where does Daredevil go from here?

Marvel and Netflix's epic experiment with street-level superheroes is an amazing success, spawning multiple seasons for each show and spinning-off one new series (so far): The Punisher. Beginning in 2015 with Daredevil, and shortly thereafter Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, we've traveled through the greasy underbelly of New York's toughest neighborhoods -- and fans want more, much more! Even though each show's lead hero and primary villains have received all the media attention, it's the secondary and surprise characters -- from Misty Knight to Colleen Wing to Frank Castle to Stick and Elektra -- who've shaped and defined these worlds.
Daredevil Season 2 alone gave us Elektra, Frank Castle, and The Hand! Consequently, when each series is renewed (or a new series is announced), there's understandable excitement and speculation regarding who else might pop-up -- we've certainly written several articles on this topic! The Punisher arrives on Netflix this fall,...

By now, most of us will have binge-watched all eight episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders and are left wondering “so, what’s next?” Well, coming up we have a handful of follow-up seasons to all four of the Defenders’ solo shows, as well as a spinoff for The Punisher, who previously appeared on Daredevil.
While those are all well and good, it would be in the studio’s best interests to inject some new blood into this corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to keep it fresh. By the time The Defenders season 2 rolls out – it hasn’t been confirmed just yet, mind you, but it’s surely a cert – we want to see the likes of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage team up with some different heroes.
But which new characters would be perfect fits for the gritty, grounded – but with a mystical edge – world of the Marvel/Netflix series?...

The Apocalypse is almost upon us! X-men: Apocalypse, that is. And in honor of that, 20th Century Fox has gifted us an old-school recruitment video for Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Hosted by Jubilee (Lana Condor), it harks back to the ’80s (1983, to be precise, when the film takes place) when the fashions were bitching and the computers were … cutting edge. For the time.
Pop into the time machine here!
Reuniting stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Rose Byrne, Bryan Singer’s film brings Oscar Isaac aboard as the titular villain, the first mutant of all, who has a plan to destroy all of mankind (I guess he’s grouchy after sleeping for a couple of millennia).
It’s being touted as the third in a trilogy, so check out X-men: First Class and X-men: Days Of Future Past to get up to speed before the end days!

I interviewed James Coburn in late 1998 for the cover story of the February 1999 issue of Venice Magazine. I had grown up watching Coburn on the late show, but also seeing him on the big screen, first-run. Meeting him was a thrill as he entered the living room of his manager, the late Hilly Elkins', home in Beverly Hills. Coburn was elegant, charming and had the grace of a cat. The only thing that revealed the health problems that had nearly done him in were his gnarled hands, the result of severe arthritis. We spoke about his role in Paul Schrader's newest film, "Affliction," which would earn him a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. Later, as I walked Coburn to his Acura Nsx sport coupe, he bid me a warm farewell.
Several months later, I encountered him again at The Independent Spirit Awards, in Santa Monica. I went up...

Robert Evans: The Kid Is Alright

Alex Simon
I interviewed legendary Hollywood producer Robert Evans in 2002 for Venice Magazine, in conjunction with the release of the documentary "The Kid Stays in the Picture," adapted from his iconic autobiography and audiobook. Our chat took place at Woodland, Evans' storied estate in Beverly Hills, in his equally famous screening room, which mysteriously burned down a couple years later. Evans was still physically frail, having recently survived a series of strokes, but his mind, his wit and his charm were sharp as ever, with near total recall for people, places and stories. Many, many stories. Here are a few of them.
It’s a widely-held belief that the years 1967-76 represent the “golden age” of American cinema. Just look at a few of these titles: Rosemary’s Baby,...

Cast your minds back to 2002 - a time when Pop Idols didn't need to have The X Factor, Fifty Shades of Grey were just colours on a paint sampler chart and David Beckham was a mere international superstar rather than global megastar.

Like their fellow Time Lord actors, William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker also shared certain genres of film. Both appeared, before and after their time as the Doctor, in horror movies and both worked on Ray Harryhausen Sinbad films.
Patrick George Troughton was born in Mill Hill, London on March 25th 1920. He made his film debut aged 28 in the 1948 B-Movie The Escape. Troughton's was a very minor role. Among the better known cast was William Hartnell, though even Hartnell's role was small and the two didn't share any scenes together. Congratulations to Ant & Dec, who celebrate 25 years in showbusiness together this year.
The dynamic (and diminutive) duo first hit our small screens in Byker Grove and have gone on to become a fixture of prime-time telly viewing with Bgt and their Saturday Night Takeaway.
We celebrate Ant & Dec's career successes - from paintballing to motorboating - below:
1. He can't see man!
"He can't see man!!" Dec points out the obvious as Ant lies blinded by paint after an illegal paintballing contest on Byker Grove.
2. Not stable...
Dec makes an earnest-looking stable boy in his sadly uncredited appearance in an adaptation of Catherine Cookson's The Cinder Path in '94.
3. Ant & Dec knighted
Ant & Dec dressed as knights at Knebworth House. Just because.
4. Let's Get Ready...
It's the Geordie answer to the Blues Brothers (sort of), as the duo perform as Pj & Duncan at the Royal Albert Hall back in 1996.

There was no doubt in anyone's minds at the close of the 2014 Dallas Sci-Fi Expo that the event had more than outgrown the Irving Convention Center. Over 12,000 attendees roamed the halls of the venue February 8th through the 9th in anticipation of seeing or meeting their favorite comic book, TV, or movie celebrity. Many of them were decked out in costumes reflecting different characters and super heroes they loved.
Here is an event where thousands of geeks come together and celebrate pop culture in a safe place. It comes as no surprise if you witness Captain America walking hand-in-hand with Wonder Woman or Princess Leia accompanied by Doctor Who to a panel featuring actors from "RoboCop." No one's judging anyone at Sci-Fi Expo.

German director Christian Petzold’s long running collaborative relationship with his starring actress Nina Hoss has been fruitful to say the least. A ’12 Berlin Film Festival winner (Silver Bear for Best Director), Barbara, sees Hoss embody the title character, an uptight physician banished to a rural village in East Germany in 1980 as punishment for an unknown deed, with a subtle fragility that only peaks through her callous guise. We aren’t given much to go on, but it seems she was once a prosperous and well respected doctor with a healthy love life of her own, her biggest problem being her beau’s residency on the other side of the Berlin Wall. Both professionally and personally, Barbara doesn’t know how to live life detached from a metropolis, and despite being under the incredulous eye of the law, she has no intention of loosing touch with her lover. So, legality be damned,...

Jack Donnelly is living the dream. Having grown up the eldest of four brothers, playing with “every weapon going,” and a big fan of fantasy who’d love to go to Comic-Con “just because of the other shows that are there!” the part of swash-buckling adventurer Jason is a dream come true for the young actor probably best known from House of Anubis or as Misfits’ White Rabbit (though he has also carried out the obligatory British Actor Apprenticeship of being in Doctors). “I’ve been out of drama school six years, and you hope you get any job, you just want to work,” Donnelly says. “All the way through the auditions for this I was doing catering for private parties, topping up champagne glasses and handing out food.

Children in Need has launched a 'Bearfaced' campaign as part of this year's appeal.
A host of female celebrities - including Alex Jones, Sheridan Smith and Jo Wood - will spend a day without their makeup to help raise money for the BBC fundraiser on November 8.
Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips will also take part in the campaign, which asks women to go makeup-free for the day and pop on a Post Office Pawprint instead.
"Pop a Pudsey Pawprint on instead of your makeup on Friday, November 8 to help make a difference to young lives across the UK; every penny raised really will help!" Sheridan Smith said.
The One Show's Jones added: "There are so many children and young people across the UK who need our help, so how could I say no to the BBC Children in Need Bearfaced campaign? Join me and hundreds of other women going Bearfaced November 8th.

I'm calling it now. Once this adorable set of Funko Pop figures featuring some of our favorite lead characters from the Assassin's Creed series hits the market there will be a ridiculous shortage of Ezio's and Plague Doctors, and enough Connors to fill a Costco. That is said with love by the way, since I really enjoyed Connor, but I'm kind of on an island by myself with that opinion. That said, I might be adding every one of these cute little uber-violent people to my shelf, though it hasn't been revealed yet when I can actually do that, but I'll keep you posted.

Oh, are you still in bed?
Hm-hmm.
Have I woken you?
No, I'm awake.
Do you still live in that amazing house you had on MTV Cribs (1)?
Oh no, we moved actually, to a house I like a lot better.
What happened to the fish, Justin Timberlake and R Kelly?
Oh, the guy that bought the house wanted the fish. He bought the fish. It was in the contract.
Did he like the leopard-print bath suite you had installed?
No, he didn't like that. He liked the glass rug and he wanted a table ... He wanted a bunch of stuff.

It's easy to view the new film Lawrence of Belgravia as a depressing film about a delusional musician – but better to think of it as an excuse to celebrate Lawrence himself
In 1986, Lawrence, the mononamed frontman of Felt, recruited a new bass player. Phil King (later of Lush) was chosen not merely for his musicianship or his ability to fit in with the enigmatic indie band, but for his hair, seemingly always a deciding factor when Lawrence hired or fired musicians: an early drummer had been booted out because his was too curly, a previous bassist had got the gig because his was "lovely and thick". There was excitement around Felt at the time. Everyone seemed to think their forthcoming album, Forever Breathes the Lonely Word, was magnificent. There was talk of an NME cover. The West Midlands meeting between King and Lawrence, however, somehow didn't suggest a gleaming future.

Previously on Torchwood, Captain Jack had some vertical and horizontal-type gay sex, which didn’t please most of you as much as the titillating media foreplay that proceeded it. Post-coital he called Gwen to talk about their complicated love affair, but she shut him down because she, like us, was over that shit after Series One. Esther proved herself competent as a sleuth/hacker, while Rex proved himself soulless. Good thing that have a mask for that these days.

Chuck did not wow our critic this week, but answered enough questions and posed a couple of new queries to compensate for any lack in entertainment value.
What did our other staff members think of "Chuck Versus the A-Team"? We've got all the bases covered for you here in today's TV Fanatic Chuck Round Table:
1. Favorite Chuck quotes of the evening?
Dan F: Morgan: Awesome: "You're not just anything Ellie... you're Mrs. Awesome."
Dr. Toboggan: Morgan: "I've been in a drug-induced stupor for the past 24 hours." Casey: "What did I tell you about letting Jeff buy you drinks at Chilis?"
Eric H: It was more delivery than quote, but Chuck's realization that they were the B-Team was priceless.
2. In honor of the ridiculous Sienna scene and the company that saved our show, "better" product placement: Subway or Toyota?
Dan F: Has to be Subway if only because it created my new favorite sandwich.

It was the 1980s. Pop charity tunes were all the rage. And when Doctor Who was threatened with cancellation, pop stars stepped forward. “Doctor in Distress” was the result. If you don’t remember it, I envy you. It’s fairly terrifying: I know what you’re saying now: “I wish I could understand all those lyrics so I can memorize them by heart.” And here ya go: Eighteen months is too long to wait Bring back the Doctor, don't hesitate It was a cold wet night in November Twenty-two years ago There was a police box in a junkyard We didn't know where it would go An old man took two teachers Into time and space It started off a legend That no other could replace Chorus Doctor in distress Let's all answer his Sos Doctor in distress Bring him back now, we won't take less Who's the Doctor over there?...

Randy Jackson, the younger brother of the late King of Pop, has been hospitalized, a source close to the Jackson family tells the Associated Press. Jackson, 48, was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA after experiencing chest pains around noon on Tuesday, says the AP's source, who was speaking on the condition of anonymity. Doctors believe Jackson might have suffered a mild heart attack, but test results are still pending, the source says. On Monday, Jackson was in L.A. with other family members attending a pre-trial hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge in Michael's death.

Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson's health has sparked a secret custody battle for her late son Michael Jackson's three kids after she fell down a flight of stairs at her home in California. The 80 year old won custody of Paris, Prince Michael and Prince Michael II following the King of Pop's death last summer - but sources insist she's too old and frail to look after the kids.
America's Globe tabloid reports Katherine was hospitalized after the fall on May 17, but escaped with only cuts and bruises. However, the accident has sparked concerns for her health. A family insider tells the publication, "She's taken on way too much for a woman of her age but refuses to delegate the care of her grandchildren to others.
"She has aged enormously and is desperately hanging on for the sake of her children, but her collapse on the stairs shows how fragile she really is.

The King of Pop. Mj. Jacko. Michael Jackson. The 50-year-old entertainment icon died early Thursday afternoon at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he had been taken after suffering full cardiac arrest. Though reports were slow to reach media outlets (TMZ was the first to report the news), it's now known that Jackson was reportedly unconscious upon arriving at the hospital (via Reuters). Doctors were unable to revive him. And while his life has now ended, in the 50 years prior, Michael Jackson ascended from child star to megastar to king. Jackson is the epitome of the modern-day multi-media megastar. Best known for his illustrious music career where he wailed and moon-walked his way to over 750 million records sold and 13 Grammy Awards, Jackson also had a long-standing film career. From his breakout performance in Sidney Lumet's The Wiz where he played the innocent Scarecrow to his epic music ...

While news of Michael Jackson's death came as a shock to many, inside sources tell Hollyscoop exclusively that the King of Pop "had doctors visiting him daily."
