Over the weekend, House of the Dragon stars Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen) and Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole) stopped by MegaCon in Orlando, Florida to do a panel. Smith revealed that he's received the first six episodes for the second season of House of the Dragon. Production is due to start in March, so there'll soon be lots to talk about!
But there was a hiccup. Various people on Twitter/X have hinted at an incident where Frankel was disrespected, with one claiming that Smith and convention staff had to intervene to protect the actor. Those tweets come with a message about the importance of respect and of being able to distinguish the character from the actor.

Following its admittedly anticlimactic season 2 finale in August 2024, House of the Dragon fans have been looking to the future of the series and anticipating what's to come in season 3. Well, speaking of the upcoming third season, two of the show's stars just revealed an exciting tease that will have fans on the edge of their seats eagerly wanting the next details.
Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel attended MegaCon in Orlando, Florida over the weekend and dropped some knowledge we'd like to know everything about. While speaking on a panel, the actors revealed that they had ironically received via email the scripts for House of the Dragon season 3 episodes 4, 5, and 6 the night before. Don't be shy, tell us what you read!
Obviously, Smith and Frankel didn't elaborate on the contents of the scripts, or the scripts for the three preceding episodes, but that doesn't stop us from needing any crumb of details before production begins.

The long-awaited third season of Euphoria is officially up and running.
HBO says production has begun on the drama series and shared a first photo from the season, with Zendaya’s Rue looking over her shoulder in a dimly lit room. HBO also shared the photo on its social channels, with the brief message “Euphoria season 3 is in production.”
The start of filming for the show comes three years after season two premiered on HBO and is more or less in line with the cable network’s pledge last summer that filming would begin in January.
The reasons for Euphoria’s unusually long hiatus are numerous and range from aligning schedules for the in-demand cast to creator and showrunner Sam Levinson’s working on HBO’s ill-fated The Idol in the interim. As The Hollywood Reporter detailed in a cover story last year, Zendaya and Levinson’s relationship also cooled during the long break.

House of the Dragon stars Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen) and Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole) swung by MegaCon in Orlando, Florida this past weekend, where they shared some updates with fans. According to ScreenRant, the actors shared that they received the scripts for Episodes 4, 5 and 6 of season 3 in their email inboxes the night prior. One assumes that they'd already received the scripts for Episodes 1, 2 and 3 beforehand. The upcoming third season will likely run for eight episodes, so they almost have the whole thing.

Here’s Why This The Twilight Zone Episode Was Banned For Decades(Photo Credit – YouTube)
The Twilight Zone had its fair share of eerie episodes, but one stood out for the wrong reasons. The Encounter was yanked from syndication for 52 years. The reason? Problematic themes that sparked outrage, especially within the Japanese American community. And while it finally resurfaced in 2016, its history remains just as haunting as the stories the series told.
Airing in 1964, The Encounter focused on two men — a World War II veteran named Fenton (Neville Brand) and a Japanese American man, Arthur Takamori (George Takei). What started as a simple conversation spiraled into tension, with Fenton’s bitterness toward Japan fueling hostility. The episode’s supernatural twist involved a katana Fenton took from a soldier he killed, hinting that the sword carried the original owner’s malice, driving the men into a violent confrontation.

Did Claire Foy Earn Less Than Matt Smith For Her Role In Netflix’s The Crown? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Guess what? Even playing the Queen doesn’t guarantee royal treatment. The Crown’s Claire Foy got paid less than her on-screen husband Matt Smith. The reason: Smith had Doctor Who fame, and apparently, that carried more financial weight than portraying Britain’s most powerful woman. The pay gap went public, outrage followed, and Netflix scrambled to clean up the mess.
After the backlash, Foy reportedly received about £200K ($274K) in backpay—a late but necessary fix, The Guardian reported. Producers insisted the issue wouldn’t repeat and promised that “no one gets paid more than the Queen” in future seasons. But by then, Foy had already wrapped up her reign as The Crown prepared to move into the 1970s with a new cast.
The irony? This wasn’t some low-budget...

With production on House of the Dragon season 3 underway, the creative team is hard at work in putting the pieces in place for the highly anticipated next season of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel and, in doing so, they’ve officially cast the first major new character for the season!
As first confirmed by Variety, actor James Norton has joined the season 3 cast of House of the Dragon in the role of Ormund Hightower, a character who was previously referenced during the show’s second season but had previously never appeared on-screen. Ormund is the nephew of Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) and cousin to both Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin.
If his last name and family ties weren’t enough of a context clue, you can very much expect Ormund to be part of Team Green and he’s very much in opposition to Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy). In Fire & Blood,...

The epic HBO fantasy series "House of the Dragon" has exceeded fan expectations in many ways, giving those who were burned by "Game of Thrones" another chance to love and grieve the incredible characters of franchise creator George R. R. Martin's worlds. Taking place approximately 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," "House of the Dragon" contains all of the great aspects of its television predecessor, just done much better, and that includes all kinds of complicated family drama. In fact, "House of the Dragon" pretty much triples down on the family drama (and incest) because it's centered on the "Dance of the Dragons," a war between two factions of the dragon-riding Targaryen family. On one side is Team Green, headed up by Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and her son Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), whom she crowned as king after the death of his father Viserys...

When "Game of Thrones" first premiered in 2011, fans fell in love with Daenerys Targaryen, the "Mother of Dragons" played by Emilia Clarke who ended the show's wildly successful first season rising from her husband's funeral pyre with three baby dragons to her name borne from ancient eggs belonging to her family line. "Game of Thrones" came to a close in 2019 and its first official spin-off, the prequel "House of the Dragon," began its run on HBO in 2022, introducing the world to another powerful Targaryen queen: Rhaenyra Targaryen, played as a teenager by Milly Alcock and as an adult by Emma D'Arcy. The two women are pretty similar in many ways: they both want to rule the Seven Kingdoms despite fierce opposition, both battle upon dragonback, and both end up experiencing brief triumphs before their reigns are cut brutally short.
So how are the two related, since they quite obviously are?...

Variety has learned exclusively that James Norton will join the HBO show’s upcoming third season as Ormund.
The official description for the character states that he is “Otto’s (Rhys Ifans) nephew, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).”

We've already seen some splendid action scenes on House of the Dragon. The Battle at Rook's Rest from the show's second season may well the single best dragon-vs-dragon aerial battle ever put on screen, big or small.
But the show has more to give us. The most exciting action scene from the source material, George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, occurs later in the story, when Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) confronts his nephew Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) near the crumbling castle of Harrenhal on the shore of the Gods Eye lake. I won't explain the full context, but basically, these two hop on their dragons — the battle-tested Caraxes for Daemon and the massive Vhagar for Aemond — and have a furious fight in the sky. It's probably the single most iconic scene from Fire & Blood, and you know the producers behind House of the Dragon are itching to get to it.

Sony Pictures on Wednesday said that it is pushing back the release date of its latest Insidious movie a year to August 2026, and in its place dating the Darren Aronofsky-directed Caught Stealing starring Austin Butler.
The Sony/Blumhouse Insidious pic, to be released by Screen Gems, is the sixth entry in the horror franchise and comes in the wake of 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, which marked franchise star Patrick Wilson’s feature directorial debut and grossed $198 million worldwide. The new installment will now be released August 21, 2026 after having been set to hit theaters on August 29 of this year
Instead, that 2025 date is now being taken by Caught Stealing, which was adapted by Charlie Huston from his book series and centers on Hank Thompson (Butler), a burned-out former baseball player who’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s New York City.

Sony Pictures has set its release plan for Darren Aronofsky’s Austin Butler-led feature, while the next installment in the Insidious franchise is getting delayed.
Set to hit theaters Aug. 29, Caught Stealing was helmed by Aronofsky from a script by Charlie Huston, who wrote the books on which the movie is based. The film stars Butler as Hank Thompson, a down-on-his-luck former baseball player who is suddenly immersed in the New York City crime underworld in the 1990s.
Caught Stealing hails from Protozoa and also stars Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Liev Schreiber, Matt Smith and Bad Bunny.

Sony has given the Aug. 29 release date originally set for “Insidious 6” to Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller “Caught Stealing,” starring Austin Butler. The next “Insidious” entry has been pushed nearly a year, to Aug. 21, 2026.
Based on the book series by Charlie Huston, who also wrote the film, the official logline for “Caught Stealing” reads, “Burned-out ex-baseball player Hank Thompson (Butler) unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a dangerous struggle for survival amidst the criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City, forced to navigate a treacherous underworld he never imagined.” Other cast members include Bad Bunny, Action Bronson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber, Griffin Dunne, Matt Smith and Regina King.
The Aronofsky-Butler collaboration was first unveiled in March 2024. Upon the film’s announcement, the Oscar-nominated director told Variety that he was “excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life.

Game of Thrones started off as a great show and arguably became one of the best things on TV in its prime. The vast and sprawling narrative along with the intricate characters made us fall in love with George R.R. Martin’s world. Yet, in the end, it made many mistakes and left fans disappointed. But House of the Dragon, its prequel, restored people’s faith in the franchise.

However, it seems like the showrunners are going to sabotage the one chance they have at rebuilding trust. The debut was promising and explored the events that led to the Targaryen Civil War, but it seems like the show is not immune to the mistakes made by its predecessors.

Check out beautiful images from a new edition of Fire & Blood, adapted for TV as House of the Dragon

Fire & Blood is a book by A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin. But it's not a novel; it's a "fake history book" written in character as someone named Archmaester Gyldayn, who's sifting through the historical record generations after the fact. All told, the book takes us through well over one hundred years of Targaryen history, starting with Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of the Seven Kingdoms and concluding with the Dance of the Dragons, a brutal civil war fought between rival factions of the Targaryen dynasty, then at the height of its power.
If that sounds familiar, it's because HBO is in the midst of adapting that section of Fire & Blood as House of the Dragon, which is between seasons at the moment. Now, the Folio Society is releasing a lavish, 616-page new edition of the book, complete with artwork by Audrey Benjaminsen as well as printed endpapers,...

Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) are two of the most important characters on House of the Dragon, a niece and uncle who are also wife and husband, dragon-riders, and hopeful occupants of the Iron Throne...or at least they both were, but by the end of season 2 Daemon seems to have recommitted himself to Rhaenyra's cause, pledging to do whatever he can to install her as queen.
But by this point there's a lot of water under the bridge, and it's possible that Rhaenyra will have trouble fully trusting Daemon again after he took out a hit on her half-nephew and spent much of the season planning his own run at the throne.

Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith) have problems like any other couple. Sometimes it's weird that they're uncle and niece. She got mad when he hired assassins to try and kill her half-brother but they murdered the infant child of her other half-brother instead. And then he flew off to the crumbling castle of Harrenhal to purportedly raise an army in her name, but really he was thinking about using it to take King's Landing for himself and claim the Iron Throne. Who hasn't been there?
By the end of the second season of House of the Dragon, the two largely reconciled, and should be back on the same page when season 3 starts on HBO and Max sometime next year. But there is a lot of water under that bridge. Speaking on In Creative Company, D'Arcy talked about where they stand on the Rhaenyra-Daemon relationship now that we're in between seasons.

Fans learned about Aegon’s epic conquest early in Game of Thrones, and this was further tackled in the prequel series House of the Dragon, which only fortified its significance in the saga. When we mention Aegon I, the immediate thought that crosses our mind is his status and symbol as the conqueror. Interestingly, there is more to him than this title.

Doctor Who's new companion is getting exactly the same treatment as Ian and Barbara, the Doctor's very first companions - and that's great news. The world's longest-running sci-fi TV show, Doctor Who has seen so many different companions join the Tardis crew. Modern Who companions have tended to be the lens through which we view the different regenerations of the Doctor, and that's what makes them great; they offer a fresh, unique window into the enigmatic time traveler.
Doctor Who season 15 features Varada Sethu as the Doctor's newest companion. Sethu has appeared before in Doctor Who, and now she's playing an original character called Belinda Chandra. We got our first glimpse of Belinda in the recent Doctor Who season 15 trailer, and she looks set to have a much more antagonistic relationship with the Doctor than Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday. Since "The Church on Ruby Road" resurrected the tradition of the Doctor Who Christmas special in 2024, "Joy to the World" has continued to add to the category of episodes. Doctor Who's modern era began in 2005 when Russell T. Davies revived the show. Before then, there had only ever been one Christmas special, the First Doctor (William Hartnell) episode "The Feast of Steven", which aired on Christmas Day, 1965. 40 years later, David Tennant's Doctor Who debut, "The Christmas Invasion" established the annual tradition of the festive special, something which has been brought back by returning showrunner Russell T. Davies.
During the Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall era, the BBC took a different approach to the traditional Doctor Who Christmas special by releasing it on New Year's Day. Chris Chibnall's Dalek trilogy was far different in tone from both the overtly festive spectacle of Davies and the wintry melancholy of Steven Moffat.

The world of Doctor Who is one of boundless imagination, where the limits of time and space are pretty much non-existent due to the timelessness of the Doctor. However, when it comes to the fandom, pleasing the fandom can be just as complex and tumultuous as the time vortex itself. Every time there is supposed to be a new doctor, there are more chances of it becoming a polarizing event rather than the one fans would be appreciative of.

Doctor Who star who was criticized by fans for being ‘too young’ Matt Smith was criticized for...

TV show romance can be hard to pull off, as fans have polarizing opinions about what characters should end up together. However, it's always gratifying when an unexpected romance turns out to be a hit with fans, proving that the characters have a spark. Whether it's an enemies-to-lovers relationship or the two characters seem like polar opposites, the last thing any viewer thinks is that these people would get together and that the romance would be good for them. However, it's often the most unpredictable romance that turns out to be the most effective.
However, in some cases, audiences did see these relationships coming and opposed them from the beginning because they felt the characters didn't fit together. While some TV show couples never should have dated, these couples successfully proved audiences wrong by overcoming their differences and making amends for the ways they hurt each other in the past.

Doctor Who's 2024 Christmas Special highlighted a side of the Fifteenth Doctor that I personally cannot wait to see more of in season 15. Doctor Who has been a favorite show of mine since the revival kicked off in 2005. From the moment I saw Christopher Eccleston take Rose by the hand and race around London, something clicked about the way the stories were told, and the energetic, exciting sci-fi action that played out on screen. But it was the rest of the episodes in Russell T Davies season 1 that really got me hooked.
The most thrilling part of Doctor Who is, of course, the Doctor, but when you have a character whose face can change, and a new actor is cast to play the titular lead, the character has to be more than one personality, with one set of traits, and a Tardis. The Doctor is a man of many faces,...

House of the Dragon star Emma D'Arcy recently stopped by the Happy Sad Confused podcast to talk about their career, playing Rhaenyra Targaryen and their relationship with some of their famous costars. Although D'Arcy has arguably been the biggest breakout star of the Game of Thrones prequel series — they just secured their second Golden Globe nomination for playing the role — but the most famous cast member coming into the show was undoubtably Matt Smith, who plays Rhaenyra's husband Daemon.
Before coming into House of the Dragon, Smith was already known for playing Prince Philip on the early seasons of The Crown, and before that the Eleventh Doctor on Doctor Who, a role that immediately shoots anyone who plays it to stardom. He's even starred opposite folks like Jared Leto in movies like Morbius, although he and everyone else in that movie might prefer we forget that.

Sword-fighting stunts are no joke, especially when the scenes are as intense as that of House of the Dragon. In fact, Matt Smith sustained a blow in the face during one of his rehearsals that almost cost him his job. Good thing he was able to get back up fast, but the actor was left with a burden to endure because his injury made it difficult for him to perform on set.

Few things can challenge fans of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" franchise quite like the Targaryen family tree — and for good reason. As depicted in his books and the HBO shows "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon," the Targaryen clan were once sprawling and powerful. However, their penchant for incest and a civil war between the Targaryen factions led to them being almost entirely wiped out by the events of "Game of Thrones." While there are enough fierce, dragon-riding Targaryens around in "House of the Dragon" that it's a struggle to keep our Aegons straight, there are only a couple of Targaryens left two centuries later when Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) hatches three dragon eggs and brings dragons back for the first time since the civil war.
There's one Targaryen who got to see not only the fall of the Targaryen dynasty...
