Dances With Films has announced it will open and close this year's festival with "A Winter Rose" and "The Toy Soldiers," respectively - both of which are made by Dwf alumni. Written, directed and produced by Riz Story, "A Winter Rose" is a young woman's coming-of-age story as she pursues her dream of. The soundtrack for the film contains 20 original songs that were written for the film by Story. Set in the 1980s, Erik Peter Carlson's "The Toy Soldiers," is a drama that explores grief through five parallel story lines. Now in its 17th year, Dwf is an 11 day celebration of independent film that takes place annually in Los Angeles. In addition to screening over 100 features, documentaries and shorts, Dwf hosts a series of panels that feature a wide range of industry professionals in discussion on the evolving landscape of independent filmmaking.
