[This story contains spoilers from The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.]
Years after his presumed death, Rick Grimes is not only alive and well, but fully back in action.
By the end of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira-starring and produced limited series, the powerhouse duo of Rick and Michonne officially reunited. Not just with each other, but with their family and friends. Having dismantled the nefarious Crm from the inside, the titular “ones who live” earned their way back to the Alexandria safe zone they called home for so many seasons, with Rick reuniting with his daughter for the first time in years, and meeting his son Rj for the first time ever.
All’s well that ends well, right? Just one problem: it ain’t over just yet.
While Lincoln, Gurira and franchise overseer Scott M. Gimple have all stopped short of promising another team-up in the future,...

At a dinner celebrating Thom Browne’s 20th anniversary and his just-launched capsule collection at Saks Fifth Avenue, the designer told the guests — who included Diane Keaton, Janelle Monáe, Logan Lerman and Danai Gurira — that the night felt like a homecoming.
“L.A. is almost my second home … I do feel like I had five really formative years here that I still hold dear to this day,” Browne explained during a toast at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills Thursday night.
Years before he launched his label, the designer of now-iconic suits that have redefined suiting had trekked to Los Angeles while searching for a professional passion. The late interior designer Paul Fortune, whose clients included Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs, befriended Browne and later offered his guesthouse as a residence. It was there, adjacent to a pool under the California sunshine, that Browne began to contemplate his future.

Exclusive: Desean Terry (The Morning Show) and Nikkole Salter are partnering to adapt and executive produce Salter’s play Lines in the Dust into a feature film under Terry’s Think Switch Entertainment banner. Terry is also set to direct.
Loosely inspired by real-life cases, Lines in the Dust shines a light on the issue of school residency fraud against the backdrop of Newark, NJ. The play, like its film adaptation, delves into this silent crime prevalent across America, particularly in communities of color. The film will tell the story of a Black woman facing prosecution for this crime, highlighting the systemic inequities and challenges faced by marginalized communities in accessing quality education for their children.
Salter, a Los Angeles-born, Obie Award-winning actress and dramatist, arrived onto the scene with her co-authorship and co-performance with Danai Gurira (Black Panther) of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play In the Continuum.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’s series finale brought many things full circle.
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) journey has been filled with significant developments. Still, nothing could prepare them for the Echelon Briefing and what General Beale (Terry O’Quinn) and his army had planned for the rest of the world.
Knowing they needed to save everyone, Rick and Michonne embarked on a devastating mission to take down Beale’s army and protect other communities.
That meant the good guys won this final battle but is happiness on the horizon?
Monsters and Critics got to chat with Lesley-Ann Brandt and Terry O’Quinn about the big conclusion.
Monsters and Critics: Starting with Lesley-Ann, could you both discuss your reaction when you heard how the show would end?
Lesley-Ann Brandt: I loved it. I thought it gave the fans a good conclusion. I’m sure some people would say,...

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live finale.
In some ways, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live marks the end of an era for AMC‘s long-running zombie franchise.
As fans saw in the Rick and Michonne spinoff’s sixth and final episode, the story of The Walking Dead‘s central lawman appears to have come to a satisfying conclusion (for the time being at least). Following many years in the figurative and literal wilderness, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) return home to Alexandria in “The Last Time” where Rick reunites with his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming) and meets his son R.J. (Antony Azor). It’s the rarest of occasions for The Walking Dead: an honest-to-goodness happy ending.
Of course, The Walking Dead isn’t a big fan of endings, happy or otherwise. Though the flagship series concluded with its 11th season,...

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was a special 6-episode spin-off from the original The Walking Dead series that told the story of what happened to some of the characters after the conclusion of the original series. Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, and Pollyanna McIntosh reprised their roles as Rick Grimes, Michonne, and Jadis Stokes / Anne respectively, with the series receiving generally positive reviews and is considered an important part of The Walking Dead canon.
Now, the series ended on March 31, 2024, and The Hollywood Reporter sat down with the two main stars of the series – Lincoln and Gurira – to discuss the series’ emotional ending and how the story of the spin-off shaped canon.
The series – Spoiler Alert – ends happily, with the main characters surviving the events of the spin-off and are now in for a “happily ever after” scenario, which, as the actors revealed, was something that had to happen.

[This story contains major spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live finale.]
And the ones who lived lived happily ever after. The end.
For now.
The six-episode limited series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has reached its conclusion, bringing the story of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne to a close, if only for the time being. Heading into the reunion series, there was little doubt Rick and Michonne would join together again and kick a staggering amount of butt along the way. Would they survive said butt-kickings? Another question entirely. But the Ones Who Live finale answered that concern with a resounding victory for Rick and Michonne, who not only stop the villainous Crm from waging war against an innocent city, but manage to do it all with time to get back to their family in Alexandria.
“I think it was very clear we needed [to survive] the epic journey,...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Season 1 finale.
“There was always something about the connection of these two characters,” Danai Gurira says of The Walking Dead’s Michonne and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the reunion of the lovers over near-insurmountable odds and legions of Walkers in spinoff series The Ones Who Live. “The plan was always that we would complete this love story in a new form.”
It is fitting in many ways that Michonne and Rick’s love story comes full circle on a day of renewal like Easter Sunday. While there is no official word whether there will be more The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live or Michonne and Rick, certainly the saving of swaths of humanity and the reunion with their children Judith (Cailey Fleming) and R.J. (Antony Azor) at the end of tonight...

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 6.
Going into The Walking Dead spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the goal for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) were perfectly clear: to find each other once again. Having been separated since Rick left the flagship series midway through season 9, all this married couple wanted to do was get back together.
Well Rick and Michonne do get back together early in The Ones Who Live‘s run. And yet, the series still persisted on. That’s because getting back together is easy, but building the world where they’ll never have to leave each other again is significantly harder. The Civic Republic Military, of which Rick is unwillingly a part of, is hellbent on conquering smaller communities like Rick and Michonne’s own Alexandria. What’s worse is that Rick’s old...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Season 1, Episode 6, “The Last Time.”] Did you reach your box of tissues in time? From the start of the sixth and final episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (including that incredible establishing shot it opened on), it was clear that fans of the long-running zombie franchise were in for a gut-punch of an episode. The most formidable couple at the end of the world — Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) — faced a series of life-altering decisions and ultimatums as they stole Jadis’ (Pollyanna McIntosh) secret file on them, learned just what the Civic Republic Military in Philadelphia were up to, and, of course, took the bad guys out. And all those epic explosions and near-bites from the dead were great, don’t get us ...

Spoilers ahead for “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” Episode 6.
After six heart-pounding episodes, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” concluded on as close to a happily-ever-after as this universe knows with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) reuniting with their children. According to executive producer and “Walking Dead” chief content officer Scott Gimple, that was always going to be the case.
“I don’t have the best working memory,” Gimple confided to TheWrap. “I’m 90% sure, though, that we knew the ending of this before we started. We just didn’t know the journey to that end.”
Gimple noted that he, Lincoln and Gurira always knew that they wanted this limited series to be about these two lost lovers finding each other physically, but that along the way, it also became about them finding each other “emotionally” and “spiritually.”

This The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live review contains spoilers.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 6
Between the two of them, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) have amassed a body count that would rival any of history’s greatest monsters, and that’s only talking about living victims.
Rick Grimes, for all his nobility, seems to be the character that The Walking Dead makes into the show’s punching bag when it comes to pushing the limits of good taste. Eugene might have bitten a guy’s groin during a fight, but that guy recovered in the end (as far as we know). Rick Grimes once ripped a guy’s throat out with his teeth. Granted, Rick has always been capable of terrible things, provided he had a good enough cause to do them. The throat-ripping was to save his son; admittedly, that’s a...

Ever since Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) left The Walking Dead in 2018, there was a promise that his story would get the ending it deserves.
What was initially supposed to be a movie trilogy turned into The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live — a six-episode limited series.
Although there have been questions about whether any storylines would be left open at the end of the finale, the episode gave Rick and his soon-to-be wife, Michonne (Danai Gurira), a relatively happy ending.
When we picked up on the final episode, Rick arrived at the Crm to reveal that he had survived his fall from the helicopter and was back because he was ready for the next phase of Crm’s plans.
As Thorne (Lesley-Ann Brandt) and Beale (Terry O’Quinn) reacted positively to the man who tried to escape countless times returning, Michonne spent her time trying to find Jadis’ dossier. Alexandria was...

Almost fourteen years ago, The Walking Dead, the TV show, came into our lives and became an instant favorite. There had been movies and shows with post-apocalyptic themes and zombies before, but the way The Walking Dead managed to influence pop culture was simply unparalleled. The comic books and the video game were already there, but it was the TV show that propelled this franchise to the heights of unimaginable success. And the name Rick Grimes became synonymous with the rise of this gigantic franchise. There shouldn’t be any argument over the fact that the character is the face of the franchise.
Cut to the present. The franchise is still going strong, with one after another spinoff being churned out. But the appeal is long gone. And the only way the franchise could regain some of its past glory is by bringing Rick Grimes back, who took an exit...

The Walking Dead is over, but like the zombies at the heart (er, brains?) of the tale, the franchise lives on.
Clocking in at 11 seasons and 177 episodes all told, the AMC horror drama shuffled off into the afterlife, only to birth a bevy of spinoff shows, most of which center on beloved characters from the original series like the Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) reunion series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Beyond those continuing adventures, there are also the spinoffs without too many overt ties to the “flagship” Walking Dead, including the very first of these spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead (also now in the grave, joined there by the two-seasons-and-out The Walking Dead: World Beyond and single season anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead).

The first season of the latest Walking Dead spinoff The Ones Who Live is concluding this weekend, but the latest profit participation lawsuit from zombie apocalypse creator Robert Kirkman, franchise executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and others is far from over.

Romance is probably not the first word that springs to mind when it comes to The Walking Dead, but the newest entry in the sprawling franchise, The Ones Who Live, puts Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) epic love story front and center. References to Bridgerton as inspiration click into place, particularly during the fourth episode, written by Gurira. Yes, even during a zombie apocalypse, there is time for yearning and swoon-worthy declarations. While Lincoln is predominantly known for playing The Walking Dead’s gun-toting protagonist, his first leading TV roles on British shows like This Life and Teachers reveal the foundation for Rick’s love story to come.

In 2021, it was confirmed that Ryan Coogler was working on a TV series set in Wakanda for Disney+, with Danai Gurira returning to her role as Okoye. After a quiet period, Variety reported in 2022 that Coogler was developing multiple Wakanda-focused series, some featuring existing characters and others introducing new ones.
Jump to 2023, the announcement of ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ came, set in the past and following Wakanda Warriors on a quest for Wakandan artifacts. Despite being confirmed recently, the animated show is slated for Disney+ in 2024 as part of Phase 5.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Brad Winderbaum, Head of Animation for Marvel Studios, clarified the status of the show’s canonicity. It’s confirmed that ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ will be part of the MCU canon.
We’re exploring so many amazing avenues on the animated side. Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show, fits right into our sacred MCU timeline continuity.

Back in 2021, it was confirmed that Ryan Coogler was working on a TV series set in Wakanda that would be released on Disney+, and a few months later it was confirmed that Danai Gurira would return to reprise her role as Okoye in the project. Nothing was heard about the project for more than a year when Variety reported that Coogler was working on multiple Wakanda-focused series for Disney+, some to include already existing Wakandan characters and some to introduce completely new ones.
Then fast forward a year later, in 2023 relatively recently, ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ has been announced. Little is known about it except that it will be set in the past and will follow Wakanda Warriors as they travel far and wide to recover Wakandan artifacts. Despite the animated show being confirmed only a few months ago, it arrives at Disney+ in 2024 as a part of Phase 5.

The penultimate episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was the most shocking episode of the series to date, culminating with Jadis’ (Pollyanna McIntosh) death.
It was a storyline that had been in the works for years, but Jadis lost her life after playing quite the cat-and-mouse game with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Monsters and Critics was fortunate enough to chat with Pollyanna about her time on The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
Check out the full interview below.
Monsters and Critics: I watched this episode multiple times. It’s just one of those episodes you don’t get very often. Not a single scene is wasted.
Since you left the main series, fans have wanted a resolution for Jadis. We also saw you on World Beyond, but The Ones Who Live brought this arc full circle.

The Walking Dead giveth, The Walking Dead taketh. In its penultimate hour, the Rick and Michonne-centric The Ones Who Live reintroduced one of the mothership series’ most enduring figures: Father Gabriel, the once-cowardly preacher turned warrior-leader of Alexandria, played by Seth Gilliam.
In the same breath, the spinoff also removed one of the franchise’s other most enduring figures from the board: Jadis, aka Anne, aka Jadis Stokes of the Crm, played by Pollyanna McIntosh. Having appeared in three different iterations of The Walking Dead in a variety of antagonistic roles, McIntosh’s erstwhile leader of the Garbage People is now in the heap herself — though, not without putting up as much resistance as humanly possible.
“She died by a bed on the head, an axe wound, a car crash, a walker and Rick’s gun,” McIntosh tells The Hollywood Reporter...

Season 2 of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live just got a promising update from a key producer.
There’s one thing fans have wanted for half a decade now, which is more of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes.
His inevitable return to the franchise, which also included his reunion with Danai Gurira’s Michonne, has been percolating for five years now. While it was once going to be in the form of three different movies, it eventually morphed into the mini-series The Ones Who Live.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has been building up to a reunion of sorts between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), and it’s one fans have been waiting more than five years for.
Despite reuniting in the series premiere, they have been continually driven apart by the Crm and Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).
Thankfully, that all changed on Sunday’s new episode, which found the lovers working through their issues and reconnecting as they embarked on a mission to return to their loved ones.
Monsters and Critics got to talk to Michael Slovis about directing one of the limited series’ most pivotal episodes and what the events mean for the final episodes.
We have just two episodes left.
Check out the interview below.

“What We,” written by Michonne herself, Danai Gurira, is the fourth episode in AMC’s “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.” Serving as an emotional climax for Michonne and Rick’s journey, the episode unravels much like a play (which makes sense given Gurira’s background as a playwright). Confined to an abandoned apartment building in the wake of Michonne pulling Rick out of a helicopter, the long-lost lovers finally have some alone time to talk things over.
What follows is a beautifully written, dialogue-heavy episode that is heightened by dynamic blocking and set design. Much of the episode finds Rick and Michonne arguing over their next steps, pacing and moving around the small apartment they’ve found themselves in. Despite an exit-plan at their fingertips, Rick seems hesitant to travel with Michonne back to Alexandria. Michonne, rightly frustrated, argues with Rick, spiraling the conversation into circles. Grimes is...

If there's one thing The Walking Dead universe will always do, it's get the internet talking.
Through the first three hours of the Rick and Michonne show, we spent much time at the Crm and witnessed the reunion between the lovers who'd been apart for many years.
And while they technically reunite during The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Season 1 Episode 1, their official reunion comes a little later.
While fans have been waiting for this series for years, waiting until now, with the original series concluded and various other spinoffs in their infancy, was the right time to bring this series to light.
It's a love story at its core, but like all the other series that came before it, it's also a tale about survival, both emotionally and physically. And that's a timeless story.

[This story contains spoilers from The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode four.]
Nobody knows Rick and Michonne better than Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, and to back that up, the powers that be wisely installed the iconic zombie-fighting actors as executive producers on The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. For the fourth installment of the six-part series, Gurira took her duties one step further, by writing and effectively showrunning the episode.
The episode, called “What We,” directed by series veteran Michael Slovis and written/overseen by Gurira, sees a climactic confrontation between Rick and Michonne, whose reunion has not gone exactly as either one of them expected. Rick is fully embedded with the militant Crm, hoping to take control from the inside and build a safer world for his loved ones. Michonne, meanwhile, is fully committed to bringing Rick home from all of the horror, and is shocked that he doesn’t want to come along.

Spoilers ahead for “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” Episode 4.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 4
The second season of The Walking Dead tends to get dismissed by critics and fans as one of the lesser seasons. It was slower, set primarily in one location, and there was turmoil behind the scenes regarding Frank Darabont’s battles with AMC. While Hershel’s farm gave the show some of its more iconic moments, it’s not held in the same regard as the preceding season, or some of the ones that follow in its wake.
I’m as guilty as dismissing this season as anyone, but one thing it did that latter seasons didn’t was lean heavily on the emotional toll surviving has on the people who are scratching to make life after the zombie apocalypse livable. There are moments, even episodes, where this emotional trauma is explored,...

Among the many kinds of story-telling The Walking Dead had tried in its eleven-season run, a character-focused, single-location episode was a pretty common one. But the thing is, most of the time, it didn’t work. The reason behind that is that The Walking Dead as a show has way more gristle and bones than actual meat, barring the first season. The meat was tasty nonetheless, but the process of getting there was often very tiresome. Naturally, with time (and Rick Grimes’ exit), people have lost interest in everything related to The Walking Dead, too.

Coming off an exceptional second episode last week, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” Episode 3 (“Bye”) finds Michonne still undercover within the Crm as a consignee. She’s under strict orders from Rick to pretend to be a “B,” when it’s clear Michonne is anything but. Watching Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira play off the dynamic of reunited lovers acting like complete strangers is endlessly entertaining, and another testament to how strong the duo are as performers.
Michonne can only play innocent for so long, as her natural skills fending off the undead become clear during the frequent walker killing sessions that consignees are required to do at the Crm’s walls. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Season 1, Episode 3, “Bye.”] Anne, Jadis… whatever name you call her, Pollyanna McIntosh‘s Walking Dead survivor (the first character to appear in three different series within The Walking Dead Universe) is an unmovable force— one that can’t help but get in the way for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and surely will cause trouble for his katana-wielding love, Michonne (Danai Gurira), as well in AMC‘s latest spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 3
The idea of paying debts is more of a Game of Thrones thing. After all, it’s the Lannister motto, and the show features a whole lot of characters paying off metaphorical debts, if not actual ones. While The Walking Dead doesn’t have any incestuous families scheming to take over the Seven Kingdoms (though they did have a king and there are undoubtedly incestuous families out there among the survivors), the Civic Republic is obviously keeping many secrets. The people of its secret city don’t know what the military does. The military doesn’t know what the elite Frontliners are up to. Within the Frontliners, there are conspiracies and gamesmanship; there’s certainly some sort of monetary system in use by the Crm, but it seems the real currency is personal favors.

The people of its secret city don’t know what the military does. The military doesn’t know what the elite Frontliners are up to. Within the Frontliners, there are conspiracies and gamesmanship; there’s certainly some sort of monetary system in use by the Crm, but it seems the real currency is personal favors.
