Linda Hamilton has jumped into Hawkins, Indiana, for the highly-anticipated fifth and final season of Netflix‘s Stranger Things, she will not be tuning in to watch as her castmates venture into the Upside Down one last time. “I’ve watched every season with relish. I just love it,” Hamilton tells Us Weekly. “So it’s kind of, like, imposter syndrome where I don’t [feel that I] fit in there. That’s a whole world set in the ’80s.” Hamilton continues, “When you buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So, I think it ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project] once I’m in something. It would completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So, I won’t be watching [Season 5].” The specifics about Hamilton’s character in this Dungeons and Dragons-themed show have been kept closely under wraps, with...

While “Stranger Things” Season 5 star Linda Hamilton may be preparing to venture into Hawkins, Ind. — hopefully by blasting some of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” on her Walkman — she will not be watching the final season despite being a fan of the 80s-infused, “Dungeons and Dragons”-inspired Netflix drama show.
In an interview with Us Weekly!, the actor shared that while she’s “relished” every season of the show, being cast in its final season has “ruined” the experience of watching it.
“When you buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So, I think it ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project] once I’m in something,” Hamilton explained. “It would completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So, I won’t be watching [Season 5].”

When it was announced that Linda Hamilton would be joining Stranger Things for its fifth and final season, it felt like a perfect addition to the cast, as she was a favorite presence in the 1980s, when the series is set. She, too, is a fan of the Netflix show…and that’s precisely why she won’t watch the season she’ll be featured in.
Speaking with Us Weekly, Linda Hamilton said that being cast in Stranger Things will interfere with her appreciation of the show, adding that she won’t be able to finish it like the rest of its fans. “When you really buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So I think in a way, it kind of ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project], once I’m in something…It would just completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there.

In 2015, Fox debuted a science-fiction mystery series called "Wayward Pines" starring Matt Dillon as U.S. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke who is sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of two fellow agents in a small town in Idaho. After getting in a car accident, he awakens to discover he cannot leave Wayward Pines, nor can he contact anyone outside of the town. He quickly learns that one of the missing agents is dead, while the other, his ex-partner Kate (Carla Gugino) has simply settled down and started a new life in the town.
If that wasn't odd enough, Wayward Pines is boxed in by an electric fence and run by Sheriff Arnold Pope (Terrence Howard), who punishes any attempts to flee the city with a public execution known as a "reckoning." If this sounds like David Lynch's "Twin Peaks" by way of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery," you're not far off.

If you even glanced at social media in the days leading up to the release of Volume 2 of Stranger Things Season 4, one thing was blatantly clear: Fans were terrified that one or more of their beloved characters were going to bite the dust — particularly, Eddie Munson.
Devastatingly, that fear was realized. In the Season 4 finale, Eddie (Joe Quinn) goes out in a moment of metal glory, battling a horde of Demobats to protect a town that vilified him for a crime he didn’t commit.
Despite Matt Duffer warning us that fans were likely to be “more frightened than they are normally for our characters” come Volume 2, and the bloodthirsty Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) killing Hawkins teens for sport all season, Eddie’s death left diehards around the world distraught. The Duffer brothers expected nothing less. Before the finale dropped, the co-creators texted Quinn saying, “We’re kind...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, series creators The Duffer Brothers are preparing to head into production on Stranger Things season 5 at the start of January. But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.
Matt Duffer told The Guardian, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun,...

“Stranger Things” is finally going back to Hawkins.
Production on the fifth and final season of the juggernaut Netflix series is currently set to begin in early January, according to multiple sources, though the start date is still subject to change. Filming was postponed for over seven months due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Creators and executive producers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer were among the most high profile showrunners to announce they were suspending work after the writers strike began in May, posting on social media that “Writing does not stop when filming begins.” When the Duffer brothers spoke to Variety in July about series costar Noah Schnapp (who was part of the Power of Young Hollywood issue), they elaborated on that sentiment.

Exclusive: The gang is returning to Hawkins. After a delay due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, production on the final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things is expected to get underway in early January, sources tell Deadline.
Things are still in flux but according to multiple sources, Monday Jan. 8 is a target start date, with Jan. 5 also being mentioned.
Cast members are believed to already be in Atlanta, where Stranger Things films, for prep work, with table reads also slated for the next couple of weeks before cameras start rolling after the New Year.
Stranger Things was close to starting production on Season 5 when the WGA strike began May 2.
Scripts had been completed by then but, faced with the prospect of filming without writers on set, creators, executive producers and showrunners the Duffer Brothers opted to instead postpone production, which was then further delayed by the actors strike.

“Stranger Things” did not disappoint after the nearly three-year wait between Seasons 3 and 4. The cast aged offscreen, but the events in the fourth season would age anybody, especially when it involves trying to save the world.
The supersized Season 4 built up much backstory with its nine episodes — each at least over an hour long, with the finale taking two hours and twenty minutes to unfold. It was also split into two volumes, the first half containing the majority of the episodes, leaving us with the epic reveal of Vecna’s true identity. The finale of Season 4 spelled out some impending doom for the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.
The Duffer Brothers have already started dropping hints about the fifth and final season of their science fiction drama series, and the writer’s room is open. Here’s what we know about “Stranger Things” Season 5 so far:

Fans of “Stranger Things” can now get a close look at the process behind “The First Shadow,” the stage adaptation that’s soon hitting London’s West End.
In time for what Netflix calls “Stranger Things” Day — the date that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp in the TV series) went missing in Season 1 — the streamer released a video giving a preview into “Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” This comes after Netflix’s recent reveal of the first images from the play, which showed Henry Creel (Louis McCartney) standing off with Dr. Brenner (Patrick Vaill), Lonnie Byers (Chase Brown) holding Joyce Maldonado (Isabella Pappas) and more.
In the featurette, key creatives discuss how the “The First Shadow” came together and what it entails, including playwright Kate Trefry, who teases, “There are so many Easter eggs. It’s Easter morning.”

The final season of “Stranger Things” will start production once the actors’ strike comes to an end. But for star Millie Bobby Brown, that resolution likely can’t come soon enough.
Speaking to Glamour in an interview published Monday, Brown compared finishing the Netflix blockbuster to graduation.
“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” she said. “‘Stranger Things’ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”
Brown praised “Stranger Things” for giving her “the tools and the resources to be a better actor,” but said she wasn’t sad about moving on to something new. “When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people,...

Stranger Things season 5 may be on hold under the strikes are concluded, but when the final season of the Netflix series does return, it will be bigger than ever.
While speaking with Total Film, Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy teased that the final season will be the equal of the biggest blockbuster movies. “There’s no way to be contiguous with season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth,” Levy said. “It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.“

Shawn Levy is promising that “Stranger Things” Season 5 goes beyond being just a television event.
The director and executive producer told Total Film magazine that the final season of the Netflix series has “major, major, cinematic storytelling” elements that rivals the “biggest movies” in theaters today.

Season 4 saw episodes extending into feature length, with the season finale clocking in at 2 hours and 30 minutes, and several installments hovering around an hour and a half.
“Stranger Things” creators the Duffer Brothers revealed earlier this year that the Season 5 pitch to Netflix made executives “cry” over the course of two hours.

After more than four months on strike, many showrunners are getting restless.
Writers Guild of America leaders are fielding a stepped-up volume of inquiries from prominent members who are frustrated with the duration of the work stoppage and looking to understand the guild’s strategy in engaging with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. In response to this heightened activity, multiple sources say several guild leaders are set to meet in person with a group of showrunners on Friday at WGA West headquarters.
A WGA West communications rep declined to comment, but Chris Keyser, who is co-chair of the WGA negotiating committee, told Variety via text message, “We have conversations with members every day. I’m not commenting on individual ones.”
The message that several different clusters of showrunners are trying to send to guild leaders is clear: “It’s not ‘We’re coming after you’ but ‘How can we help?...

Noah Schnapp is opening up about his coming-out story. The Stranger Things actor spoke to Variety (pre-strike) about his decision to share his sexuality with the world earlier this year — and how his character Will Byers helped him come to terms with his own sexuality.
“Once I did fully embrace that Will was gay, it was just an exponential speed towards accepting it for myself,” Schnapp told the outlet. “I would be in a completely different place if I didn’t have Will to portray, and to embrace and help me accept myself.

Noah Schnapp was stuck in his drafts. The 18-year-old actor, who’d become a household name on Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” kept putting off posting a video he’d shot on his phone — an announcement he’d been contemplating making for a few months. His closest friends kept texting him: When are you going to post it? I want to see the world’s reaction! Schnapp kept replying: No, I’m not ready. I’m not ready. I’m not ready.
But on Jan. 5, after his family dropped off his twin sister, Chloe, at college in Boston, he felt ready. As they started the hourslong drive back to their home in Westchester, N.Y., he posted the eight-second video to more than 31 million followers on TikTok.
At first glance, it looked like other clips he’s made messing around with friends (including “Stranger Things” Bff Millie Bobby Brown): Schnapp,...

The Duffer Brothers are leaving Easter eggs for the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” in suitably strange places, like the upcoming stage play “The First Shadow.”
The teaser for the upcoming West End production hints that “the beginning of the ‘Stranger Things’ story might hold the key to what comes next.” A series of clips from the first season of the hit Netflix series, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) being experimented on, are also part of the teaser footage.
The official synopsis reads for the stage play reads: “Hawkins, 1959, a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. The last time “Stranger Things” fans saw Maya Hawke’s Robin, she was making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for displaced Hawkins, Ind. townspeople alongside Vickie (Amybeth McNulty). Robin spent a lot of “Stranger Things 4” crushing on Vickie, a clarinetist who plays with her in the Hawkins High marching band. Sarah Connor is heading to Hawkins.
As revealed with a little help from “Fubar” star and “Terminator” legend Arnold Schwarzenegger during the Netflix fan event Tudum on Saturday, “Terminator” star Linda Hamilton has been added to the cast of “Stranger Things” for the show’s fifth and final season.
Hamilton is the latest ‘80s star to star in the popular series, following Winona Ryder, Paul Reiser, Matthew Modine, Sean Astin, and Robert Englund.
In keeping with the ultra secrecy that comes with “Stranger Things,” no details about Hamilton’s role were revealed.
The show’s fourth season debuted last year to strong acclaim and industry recognition – including 13 Emmy nominations and five wins for Part One of the season. Part Two of Season 4, which consisted of two feature-length episodes, is eligible for Emmy consideration this year in certain categories like writing and directing.

“Stranger Things” Season 5 just got bigger.
The final season of Matt and Ross Duffer’s 1980s-set sci-fi blockbuster was already one of the most anticipated television events in recent memory. But at Netflix’s Tudum fan event in Brazil on Saturday, the streaming giant upped the ante by announcing that action film legend Linda Hamilton is joining the cast for Season 5.
Hamilton is best known for playing Sarah Connor in the “Terminator” franchise, beginning with James Cameron’s original 1984 film and continuing through 2019’s “Terminator: Dark Fate.” Her casting adds one final dose of ’80s genre film pedigree to a cast that already stars Winona Ryder and has featured the likes of Robert Englund in smaller roles.
Little is known about the plot of Season 5, though the Duffer brothers have suggested that the series will continue to go down the increasingly dark path established in Season 4.
“[For] two hours, we pitched the full season to Netflix.

“I think it’s finally my year,” are the famous last words of Eddie Munson in “Stranger Things,” but unfortunately actor Joseph Quinn will have to wait a little bit longer.
While, at this point, it feels like the kids of Netflix’s ’80s-set sci-fi series will be grandparents before Season 5, with the WGA strike delaying production and the general speed in which the Duffer brothers have delivered seasons. Nonetheless, elements of last summer’s massively popular Season 4 Vol. 2 double-episodes will be angling for consideration from the Television Academy this year. But Emmy rules means most stars of “Stranger Things” aren’t eligible for this year’s ballots.
In June 2022, the TV Academy eliminated the “hangover episode rule,” which allowed a series that premieres current-season episodes after the May 31 eligibility deadline but before the start of nomination round-voting to submit for Emmy consideration.

"Stranger Things" will live on after its upcoming final season -- in the form of an animated series. It's worth noting that the Duffers have more than one "Stranger Things" project in the works through Upside Down Pictures. Actor David Harbour has declared it’s “definitely time” for ‘Stranger Things’ to end because the cast has “grown up”. The hit Netflix show launched back in 2016 and made stars of its young cast including Millie Bobbie Brown and Finn Wolfhard but it has been confirmed the upcoming fifth series will be the last and Harbour, who plays cop Jim Hopper, says the time is right to say goodbye because the actors have grown up and need to move on.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “What’s funny is when I started the show, I never, ever wanted it to end. That’s why I love the show. I think it’s a great show, even if I wasn’t in it. Now we’re almost nine years from filming the first season, and I think it is time for it to end. But it is, of course, very bittersweet.

David Harbour sounds ready to focus on the future after playing Stranger Things’ Jim Hopper since the Netflix series launched in July 2016.
Harbour, who stars in the streamer’s upcoming film We Have a Ghost, told Discussing Film in an interview published Monday that, at one point, he assumed he would never want Stranger Things to wind down. However, he has since come to terms with the show from co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer having had a successful run ahead of its fifth and final season.

Sadie Sink is addressing what no Stranger Things fan wants to talk about — the ending of the cult-classic series.
On the Today show Wednesday, the actress, who plays Max Mayfield in the Netflix sci-fi-horror drama, opened up about what it’s going to be like filming the fifth and final season.
“It’s going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible. These kids, this entire cast and crew, this is, like — I mean, it’s family. People say it all the time, but I genuinely mean it,” Sink said. “And to think that we have to kind of say goodbye to that security and knowing that we won’t be seeing each other for another season, it’s scary and sad, but I think it’s exciting to move on to the next chapter.”

Sadie Sink knows it will be a bittersweet goodbye to “Stranger Things.”
The hit Netflix series, which is set to conclude with the upcoming Season 5, has been a part of Sink’s life for six years and marked her breakout role, along with co-stars Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Joe Keery, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joseph Quinn, and more.
“We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional I’m sure,” Sink said during the “Today” show, predicting what that day will be like on set. “It’s going to be awful. It's wild to think that the hit Netflix series "Stranger Things" is heading toward its conclusive season. For the last five years, the sci-fi horror adventures of a group of meddling teens from Hawkins, Indiana have dominated the pop culture conversation, and completely reshaped the landscape of genre television. So many shows have been trying to chase the success of "Stranger Things," but alas, have yet to reach the heights achieved by show creators, The Duffer Brothers. Matt and Ross Duffer have been very candid with how "Stranger Things" came to be, with the story about how the two were denied the chance to direct a new adaptation of Stephen King's "It" as the genesis of the creation of their popular series becoming as well-known of a fun fact as "Did you know Michael Myers' mask is of William Shatner?"
