We're back in class with another fun episode of Abbott Elementary!
This was probably the best episode of the season, and for that reason, we're giving it five stars.
When you have an ensemble cast like this one, it can be hard to make sure everyone's story gets told. But the writers of this show know what they're doing, and it never feels like anyone is left behind.
The big news from Abbott Elementary Season 3 Episode 10 was Janine's big career decision. We definitely saw it coming, as she's been dropping hints about how much she misses being in the classroom all season.
The district fellowship was a nice storyline for her because it gave her opportunities for growth and helped her understand where she really wanted to be.
Plus, it gave us Manny, who will be missed as the show pulls away from the district. Maybe they'll find a way to keep him involved,...

The strike may have delayed and abbreviated the third season of Abbott Elementary but Quinta Brunson went into it feeling pretty confident that her comedy wasn’t going anywhere: she was told that ABC had picked up the series for a fourth season.
While appearing at Deadline’s Contenders TV on Sunday, Brunson — who was joined on stage by Tyler James Williams (Gregory), Chris Perfetti (Jacob) and William Stanford Davis (Mr. Johnson) — recalled how incredible it felt to know that “ABC trusted us” before they even began production on season 3.
The news of the pickup was made public in February at the Television Critics Associaton press tour.
The comedy just wrapped production last week on the third season. Brunson, who plays Janine in the comedy that she created for ABC, said she still marvels at how far her Emmy-winning comedy has come.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Abbott Elementary Season 3, Episode 9, “Alex.”] Abbott Elementary finally returned after a few weeks off the air and revealed a major career decision on the horizon for Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson). As fans will recall, the teacher was selected to work at the district for an interim period as she implemented positive change at Abbott and schools all around it. And in the latest episode, “Alex,” she faced a crossroads as Superintendent Reynolds (Keegan-Michael Key) offered her a permanent position at the district. Disney/Gilles Mingasson This would mean Janine would no longer be a teacher at Abbott, which she ultimately decided to pursue at the beginning of the episode, announcing the choice to her colleagues, and things seemed pretty wrapped up until Gregory (Tyler James Williams) asked for her help. When one of Janine’s students ran into trouble for several unexcused absences, Gregory leaned on Janine to help him sort...

Abbott Elementary may only be on its third season, but the ABC series has already established itself as one of the best workplace sitcoms. The Emmy-winning show has all the essential ingredients of the genre: a flawed but lovable protagonist, a ridiculous boss, an ensemble full of eccentric characters, and, of course, a will-they/won’t-they? romance.
From the very beginning, viewers have rooted for Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) to get together. While he was clearly interested in her from the moment they chaotically crossed paths in the pilot, she was still with her long-term boyfriend Tariq (Zack Fox). As they grew closer though, their connection became undeniable, something that deserved to be fully explored.

Abbott Elementary is returning for a fourth season, and we're busting out the Gritty merch to celebrate.
But will next season be the last one for Quinta Brunson's breakout hit, or can we expect to see our favorite Philly teachers for years to come?
In a recent interview with Elle, Brunson provided some insight into her plans for the smash hit sitcom.
Brunson, an Emmy winner with a long list of accolades (including being the first Black woman to receive three comedy Emmy nominations), is a Philadelphia native who developed Abbott Elementary as a love letter to her city.
Raised in Philadelphia public schools, Brunson also had the benefit of being raised by a kindergarten teacher: her mother, Norma Jean.
Brunson has a mile-long list of credits as a writer, producer, director, and actor, proving that she can wear a plethora of hats in the industry.

“Abbott Elementary” received the same three supporting acting Emmy nominations across its first two seasons: Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph for supporting actress and Tyler James Williams for supporting actor. The comedy is likely to pick up those three bids again for its third season this year, but will it score any beyond that? Also eligible are Lisa Ann Walter in supporting actress (eighth place in our combined odds), as well as Chris Perfetti (10th place) and William Stanford Davis (21st place) in supporting actor — and their categories may be open enough for them finally to break in.
Walter, Perfetti and Davis missing for Season 1 is not at all surprising. A word-of-mouth hit, “Abbott” already exceeded expectations with seven nominations in total, including for series, actress (Quinta Brunson), writing and casting. While our odds correctly forecasted the inclusions of Brunson, James and Ralph, they had Williams sitting all the...

Abbott Elementary‘s third season continues this week on ABC, and ahead of the show’s return star Tyler James Williams weighed in on his character Gregory’s relationship with Janine (Quinta Brunson) in the fan-favorite comedy. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Williams was asked about how he feels regarding Gregory and Janine’s will-they-won’t-they romance. “I hate to say it, and I know everybody’s always mad at me…. [but] I don’t necessarily want to see them together,” Williams stated plainly. Gasps from the audience expressed their horror at such a thought as Janine and Gregory have become a pair worth rooting for over the past three seasons. When Jennifer Hudson pushed for more details, Williams added, “It’s partially an actor’s choice but also… I read a lot of scripts all the time. I watch a lot of TV, a lot of film.

Lisa Ann Walter admitted that Abbott Elementary being renewed for a fourth season was the first time she’s honestly felt “safe” in her acting career.
Though the actress is known for her beloved character Chessy in 1998’s The Parent Trap, she said in an interview with People magazine, “Just because you’re in a movie doesn’t mean you’re rich.
“I wasn’t a star. I was the woman that made you cry in The Parent Trap, and you’re still looking for a job the next week,” Walter explained. “So honestly, feeling safe? The season four pickup of Abbott.”
The actress shared that her role as teacher Melissa Schemmenti in the hit ABC sitcom allowed her to afford to take her four children on their first major family vacation — a trip to Italy last summer.

Bradley Cooper left the 2024 Oscars empty-handed on Sunday, but the best actor nominee for Maestro got a moment to shine among the staff and students of one of TV’s biggest shows when he appeared on the episode of Abbott Elementary that immediately followed the ceremony.
Cooper, whose passion project Maestro was nominated for seven Academy Awards but won none, took a self-deprecating turn in the cameo as himself on ABC’s award-winning hit comedy. In the episode’s opening moments, the star of the biopic focusing on legendary composer Leonard Bernstein’s tormented personal life is seen at the titular school as the guest of a second-grader pal, Kaleel, but the class fails to recognize the star.
“Oh, I just loved you in The Holdovers. It was just so heartwarming,” Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) tells Cooper, perhaps mistaking him for Paul Giamatti, who was also up for best actor for that movie this year.

Bradley Cooper may not have won an Oscar, but he did win a role on “Abbott Elementary.”
The “Maestro” actor stopped by to play himself in the cold open of the “Abbott” episode that aired directly after ABC’s telecast of the 96th Academy Awards. In the scene, a student in Melissa’s (Lisa Ann Walter) class brings Cooper to campus.
“Whenever I’m in Philly, you know the deli across the street? That’s my first stop,” the Pennsylvania native says. “My dad used to always take me there. They have the best hoagies in the city.” His second grade friend retorts, “Everybody wanted to take a picture with him, so I figured he was famous.”
Though the scene was obviously taped well before the Oscars, it doesn’t seem the “Abbott Elementary” writers were predicting a win for Cooper, instead allowing him to self deprecate about his much-talked about Oscar campaign.

Abbott Elementary will still air on Wednesday March 6, but no new episode will be broadcast, and that’s for a very specific reason. As previously unveiled by ABC, a new episode of Abbott would broadcast following the 96th Academy Awards. In other words, the biggest night for movies is set to be the lead-in for Abbott‘s forthcoming episode, “Willard R. Abbott.” The installment will see the titular school deemed a Philadelphia historical landmark, much to the excitement of principal Ava (Janelle James) and Janine (Quinta Brunson), but Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) aren’t as impressed with the accolade. As the school plans a celebration in honor of its namesake, not everything will go as planned. (Credit: Disney/Gilles Mingasson) Joining Brunson, James, Ralph, Walter, Tyler James Williams, Chris Perfetti, and William Stanford Davis for the episode are guest stars June Diane Raphael and Jennifer Elise Cox.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Abbott Elementary, Season 3, Episode 5, “Breakup.”] Abbott Elementary may be a setting for educating young minds, but behind the scenes in the Season 3 episode, “Breakup,” it was the backdrop for Jacob’s (Chris Perfetti) exit strategy when it came to his relationship with boyfriend Zach (Larry Owens). In the installment, Jacob leans into nights out with colleague and pal Gregory (Tyler James Williams) in a clear avoidance of returning home. When Gregory notices his friend’s odd behavior, he confronts Jacob and asks him to be honest about what’s going on. It turns out that Jacob is trying to get Zach to break up with him so he doesn’t have to be the dumper in this scenario. Hayden Panettiere of Heroes, Scream 4, and Scream VI shares the screen with Tyler James Williams of Everybody Hates Chris, Abbott Elementary, and The Walking Dead in the thriller Amber Alert. Deadline reports that Lionsgate has acquired the worldwide rights to the film, which flew under the radar as it made its way through production and is now in post-production.

In one of the best episodes of The Vince Staples Show – a dark Netflix comedy following the fictionalized life of the titular rapper – Vince slowly but surely leverages a bank robbery he’s caught in the crosshairs of to his advantage. Perhaps this quiet doggedness is autobiographical; in reality, Vince Staples has been actively trying to produce his own television show for about eight years, finally getting it over the line with its Feb. 15 premiere.

Unsurprisingly, ABC loves Abbott Elementary as much as everyone else does! The network has announced that it has renewed the hit comedy for a fourth season. The news comes as part of ABC’s presentation at the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour—and from Abbott‘s own Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis)—and just days after the Season 3 premiere aired (on February 7). Season 3 kicked off with an episode that revealed some changes in the months that had passed, including that Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson) now has a fellowship with the district and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) has closed the door on a relationship between the two (at least for now). As for when we might see her back in the classroom teaching, “that is definitely an internal struggle that Janine is going to have to deal with over the course of this season,” executive producer Patrick Schumacker told TV Insider.

Abbott Elementary isn’t going anywhere.
The comedy series has been renewed for Season 4 at ABC, as announced by Willard R. Abbott Elementary’s own Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) during Disney’s Television Critics Association Press Tour.

The delay in Abbott‘s return was due to the months-long production halt caused by the 2023 writers and actors strikes,...

“Abbott Elementary” Season 3 was delayed by five months — known in our world as the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but also known and acknowledged, surprisingly, in the supersized premiere episode, “Career Day.” The explanation? The Abbott Elementary documentary crew got robbed after a teachers’ night out, returning only after they were able to save up the money for new equipment.
The episode, written by Quinta Brunson and directed by Randall Einhorn, opens not during the traditional September start of the school year, but in February — matching the audience timeline and treating them to the show’s first time jump. In February, Janine (Brunson) is working for the school district and barely speaking to Gregory (Tyler James Williams), which instantly invokes major intrigue.

[This story contains spoilers from the third season premiere of Abbott Elementary.]
Major change has come to Abbott Elementary as the show’s lead character, Janine Teagues, played by series creator and Emmy Award-winning actress Quinta Brunson, finds herself outside of the classroom and inside the oft-alluded-to Philadelphia school district at the start of the ABC sitcom’s third season.
“We’re focusing a lot on the district [this season],” co-showrunner Patrick Schumacker tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re going to start to explore that world … and Janine is going to see what that type of bureaucracy is in counterpoint to the bureaucracy that she has to deal with at Abbott.”
That plotline is set up in the one-hour season three premiere of Abbott Elementary, which aired at 9 p.m. E.T. on Wednesday. The episode sees the return of series regulars Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti and William Stanford Davis — and the introduction of guest stars Josh Segarra,...

“Abbott Elementary,” the Emmy-award-winning sitcom created by Quinta Brunson, has returned for its third season, and the series remains just as witty and fun as it’s always been. However, the mega-sized opener titled “Career Day Part 1 & 2” suggests the comedy is ready to tackle one of the most significant issues facing the public education system in America – teacher burnout.
In previous seasons, audiences have witnessed the Abbott teachers bend and twist themselves in knots to get adequate resources while dealing with a self-centered and inept (though hilarious) principal, Ava Coleman (Janelle James). Veteran educators Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter), now decades in to the profession, have mastered the art of delivering with less. Meanwhile, Janine Teagues (Brunson) and Jacob Hill’s (Chris Perfetti) naïveté and love of educating have enabled them to imagine a future for Abbott students that likely won’t come to fruition.
