[[tmz:video id="0_olez8lz0"]] Yeah, Tom Coughlin got canned, but he's leaving with something almost no other NY Giants coach has ... according to U.S. Congressman Peter T. King. When we got the distinguished gentleman from NY we had to ask what he thought about NY's coaching vacancy. King's sure the G-Men will easily land a new leader easily, and he's also sure Coughlin's "gonna go down in history as one of the top 2 Giant coaches." So, why'd he get fired?...

Tisch says the team needs to Win Out after losing to the Jets Sunday night -- beating the Dolphins, Panthers, Vikings and Eagles -- but he's confident he's got the players and the staff to pull it off.

Wait, don't answer that; we know what you're going to say. The "final" trailer for The Force Awakens premiered last night during Monday Night Football, instantly turning a pretty terrible Nfc East game between the Giants and Eagles into a genuine pop culture event. And while we didn't get any of the exciting bells and whistles promised by a Redditor named "DatESPNGUY" – thanks for nothing, dude – we're willing to bet you, the diehard Force fan, didn't mind. Because the trailer was fucking awesome.

While they dazzle on the court or field, they’re aren’t always known for their charisma — or ability to convincingly read from a teleprompter. However, what they lack in people skills they make up for in strength or hand size.
Every generation has a big-time athletic personality (think Dennis Rodman‘s colorful hair and confounding marriages). In the last 10 years, sports stars have used their popularity and charisma to book major endorsement deals and television appearances, setting themselves up for a future of TV talk shows or commercial fame. Stars like Peyton and Eli Manning are letting their own personalities shine through, and are being handsomely reward for their work. Zooey Deschanel took the "Saturday Night Live" stage for the first time on Feb. 11, bringing her particular brand of quirky cuteness to the show.
And for the most part, she did pretty well. The show played to her comedy strengths (and poked a little bit of fun at her persona). Plus, "The Artist" star Jean Dujardin!
Here's how it played out.
Cold open
Jason Sudeikis as Mitt Romney tries to play off his losses in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado, but Baron the dog steals the show, barely letting Sudeikis get the "Live from New York ..." line out.
Monologue
Deschanel walks out in a red dress adorned with little white hearts. "Even though I do this a lot," she says, "it's for a special occasion." She then sings a pretty funny little song about guys who forget Valentine's Day: "I know I'm angry/But later I'll be fine/You're just a...

With the New York Giants down 10-9 to the New England Patriots at halftime of the big game on Sunday, we're pretty sure coach Tom Coughlin gave the eventual Super Bowl champions a hell of a speech. Still, last night's most memorable pep talk came from an unlikely hero, Clint Eastwood.
"It's halftime," Dirty Harry grunted in the opening moments of a dramatic Chrysler spot that aired while both teams were in the locker room and Madonna was preparing to excite the world at Super Bowl Xlvi in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The emotional ad juxtaposed the Giants and Patriots' mid-game huddle-up and contextualized it against the country's current economic woes. "It's halftime in America, too," the Oscar-winning actor/director continued. "People...

Indianapolis -- Trying to do his best "Tebowing," Alec Baldwin got a bit of help on stage.
The host of "NFL Honors" on NBC was kneeling down when Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow stepped up and showed Baldwin how it's really done.
"Bless you, Tim," Baldwin responded.
That capped a nearly 10-minute monologue Saturday night on the eve of the Super Bowl as The Associated Press awards for the 2011 season were announced.
Baldwin started by walking into the glittery crowd, handing a football to Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers and asking the AP NFL Most Valuable Player to sign it.
The "30 Rock" star then tossed around the jokes, taking equal shots at the NFL, Madonna and the Kardashians, mostly to big laughs from the likes of Joe Namath, Rex Ryan and Cam Newton. All the while, Baldwin clutched his prized souvenir.
The evening's first presenter, Katy Perry, kept in the spirit.

At first glance the New York Football Giants share very little with the fictional team in Dillon, Texas. However, after rewatching the first season this past week, it dawned on me that this year's Giants team is shockingly similar to the Dillon Panthers/Lions. Allow me to recast Friday Night Lights with the players on the Giants:
Eli Manning as Matt Saracen
The goofy facial expressions, the "aw shucks" expressions, the easy-going personality, Matt Saracen is Eli Manning! Eli Manning is Matt Saracen! Both have led their team to a championship when everyone has counted them out. Both have married their school sweethearts. Eli met Abbey at Ole Miss while Matt met Julie Taylor at Dillon High. In a perfect world Eli would have married Coach Coughlin's daughter, but we'll deal with that later.

"Swagger." It's a term that's come into some popularity in the past few years. Like the phrase "Red Zone." But the Red Zone is only a Red Zone for the defense; for the offense it would naturally be the "Green Zone." I guess only Tom Coughlin realizes that. But back to swagger. The way the word swagger has been used, especially the way Old Spice advertises it, it's apparently meant to exhibit some kind of machismo, a confidence thing. Something akin to John Wayne strutting out into the dusty streets of Arizona raring to shoot some bad guy who's undoubtedly broken the law or maybe one of those infamous swashbuckling pirates like Calico Jack or Henry Morgan or Bluebeard who, after many lonely months at sea ... well, that may be a different...

New York -- This year's Espy nominees pit the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants against New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the Lakers' Kobe Bryant competing alongside this year's Boston Celtics.
Espn on Tuesday announced the nominees for the 16th annual ESPYs, which will be televised July 20. There are 37 categories, and the millions of votes -- there were 12.5 million last year -- can be sent in online and this year for the first time via mobile phone.
The Giants were nominated in several categories, all for its upset of the undefeated Patriots that was the most-watched Super Bowl in history. They are nominated for best team, best coach (Tom Coughlin), best play (Eli Manning's 32-yard pass to David Tyree), best upset and, of course, best game.
There's stiff competition in the best-game category, which also includes the Boston Red Sox's sweep of the Colorado Rockies to win its second World Series in four years; the Boston Celtics' recent championship against the Lakers in the NBA Finals; Kansas men's basketball and Tennessee women's basketball, which won the Ncaa championships; and the Detroit Red Wings that recently won the Stanley Cup.
Nominated for best moment is Jon Lester's May 19, 2008, no-hitter that took place a year after he returned to the Red Sox from cancer treatment; Danica Patrick's win of the Indy Japan 300; and the Central Washington University's sportsmanship when members of the team carried Western Oregon University's Sara Tucolsky around the bases after she collapsed in a playoff game. Best game nominees other than the Giants are the Celtics' come-from-behind victory against the Lakers plus the Kansas-Memphis Ot game.
Tiger Woods, who will have to sit the rest of the season after an injury in the Us Open, received nominations for best male athlete and best championship performance after he continued to play the Us Open even with a double stress fracture to his left knee. The Lakers' Kobe Bryant received nominations for best male athlete and best NBA player. The Patriots received individual nominations in best male athlete for Tom Brady, who also goes up against Manning in the category of best NFL player along with Randy Moss.
While most sports happen on TV, the ESPYs do crown the year's best sports movie. This year there are four nominees: dramas "Resurrecting the Champ," starring Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett and "The Game Plan," starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, plus comedies "Semi Pro" starring Will Ferrell and Woody Harrelson and George Clooney's "Leatherheads," which stars Clooney and Renee Zellweger.
Three special awards were announced Tuesday. 1968 Olympic medalists John Carlos and Tommie Smith will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, for their fist-raising performance while receiving medals at the Mexico City Olympics. Former Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance after walking again after a serious spinal cord injury. And Texas Rangers player Josh Hamilton will receive the comeback award for his 2008 season.
