Michael Douglas played Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, in the MCU. Douglas has appeared in all three Ant-Man films, starting with the first one in 2015. However, he was not entirely happy working in the latest film in the trilogy since the filmmakers failed to implement his one wish for his character. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a disaster at the box office and it is highly doubtful whether Douglas would appear in another MCU film.
Michael Douglas as Hank Pym in Ant-Man
Douglas’ Hank Pym is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, entomologist, and physicist. He was a friend and colleague of John Slattery’s Howard Stark and Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter. Interestingly, Douglas chose the Ant-Man role after a few failed projects.

Kevin Feige was part of the infamous Marvel Creative Committee (McC) in the early stages of the MCU and played a crucial role in preventing the committee from ruining Captain America. According to reports, Feige and Louis D’Esposito vehemently opposed the committee’s idea to set the character in modern times. There were screaming matches during meetings of the McC, with Feige emerging successful and giving us the period piece, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Tom Cruise’s new movie, Mission: Impossible 8, is in the process of being filmed, and the sequel to last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One promises to deliver us yet another action-packed installment. And while the release date has been pushed back a whole year, updates are coming in quickly, and we have learned that Katy O’Brian has joined the movie cast in an unspecified role, as of the time of writing.
This piece of information is definitely welcome, as O’Brian has recently received praise for playing Jackie in the romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding alongside Kristen Stewart, with Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris also starring. Disney and MCU fans might know O’Brian from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, appearing as Jetorra, but also from The Mandalorian, where O’Brien played the treacherous Elia Kane. Tom Cruise is the personification of the word ‘Superstar’ thanks to his unbeatable charm and a career graph that only seems to go upwards. With films like Top Gun: Maverick and Jerry Maguire, the actor has time and again proven why he is the best of the best in the film industry. Naturally, a superstar of his caliber will have gigantic paychecks coming his way, often upsetting the gender pay gap.
Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell in Mission: Impossible 7
Tom Cruise has previously come under fire by Alec Baldwin for taking up too much of a film’s budget, leading to the actresses getting paid significantly less. However, if you have seen any of the Mission: Impossible films, you’d know that Tom Cruise is nothing short of a feminist, keeping the salaries aside. The breakout star of Love Lies Bleeding, Katy O’Brian, is also seeing her fair share of franchise roles. Prior to her latest A24 movie, O’Brian has played parts in projects for Disney like The Mandalorian and Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She will also be seen in the upcoming Twisters, where she says, “We filmed a tornado movie during tornado season in Tornado Alley.” She would reveal that her character is “a little sillier” than she has been used to, but she won’t go as far as to call it a comic relief role. “I don’t want to say comedic role, and then everyone’s like, ‘She wasn’t funny.’ We’ll say it’s silly and fun.”

Tom Cruise Once Slammed His Mission Impossible Crew For This Reason. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Tom Cruise is very dedicated to his work and ensures his crew members do not fool around. The Hollywood A-lister has a pretty good reputation in the industry, barring the Scientology controversy, but he once lost his temper while doing Mission Impossible 7, aka Mision: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. An audio of him criticizing the crew members was allegedly published by a leading media outlet and at a studio in the UK.
The Mi franchise led by Cruise is one of his most popular ones, and the fans eagerly wait for every part. However, Mi 7 failed to create the same magic at the box office as its predecessors because of the Barbenheimer effect. It was released in the same month as Oppenheimer and Barbie. As last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (which has dropped the “Part One” subtitle since it hit home video) wrapped up, we saw that Tom Cruise’s Imf agent lead character Ethan Hunt would live to run another day – and pictures from the set of Mission: Impossible 8 (which won’t be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two after all) show him doing just that! Cruise running is a big part of these movies and his overall career, so it’s nice to see that Mission: Impossible 8 will indeed have him moving across the screen as fast as his legs can carry him. There’s even some video from the set as well, if you want to see this run in action.

Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter has appeared in several Marvel projects. Most recently, she portrayed an alternative Captain America in ‘What If…?’ Season 2, featuring prominently in many episodes. Additionally, she appeared in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ as an Avenger and a founding member of the Illuminati. In 2018, she fought in the Infinity War and contributed to defeating Thanos in the Battle of Titan. Subsequently, she supported the decision to execute Doctor Strange for his use of the Darkhold, leading to a multiversal incursion.
Captain Carter also headlined her own successful show before the Disney+ era, titled ‘Agent Carter.’ In a recent Q&a session, Alex Perez confirmed that Captain Carter remains a significant part of the Marvel Multiverse. She is set to return in ‘What If…?’ Season 3 and reportedly will have a role in ‘Secret Wars,’ an upcoming Avengers project.

"Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness" can be best described as Sam Raimi at war with the corporate sensibilities of the MCU. On one hand, the movie is filled with fun, creative bits of Raimi-style high-effort filmmaking; there's a willingness to get spooky and mean in a way that feels fresh and unprecedented for the franchise. On the other hand, it's filled with forced moments that read so strongly as studio notes designed to pander to fans and set up future movies. Case in point: The Illuminati, a new group that includes John Krasinski's Reed Richards and Patrick Stewart's Professor X. Their inclusion is less of an organic storytelling choice and more of an advertisement for future MCU properties.
But part of what makes "MoM" so fun is that the Raimi sensibilities win out in the end. The moment Raimi wins is that scene where Wanda...

Five years have gone by since Tom Cruise announced that Paramount Pictures had given the greenlight to two more Mission: Impossible movies, with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) writer/director Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm. At one point, we thought these movies were going to carry the titles Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two… but Paramount is backtracking from that decision. After Dead Reckoning Part One underwhelmed at the box office when it was released last year, the studio has dropped Part One from the subtitle and has let it be known that the next film, which is still in production, will have a different title. A decision they really should have made before releasing the first half of the story. At least we’re still getting the second half of the story, with the...

Tom Cruise is a big deal in Hollywood, having starred in many blockbuster movies. But when it comes to his personal life it has been pretty rocky because the superstar has been married and divorced three times—first to Mimi Rogers (1987-1990), then to Nicole Kidman (1990-2001) and later to Katie Holmes (2006-2012).

After his marriage with Holmes, Cruise seemed to slow down on public romances between 2012 and 2020. But a new report in December 2020 sparked interest in his love life, suggesting he was dating his Mission: Impossible 7 co-star, Hayley Atwell.
By June 2022, another report claimed they had broken up. In 2023, the 61-year-old was reportedly dating model Elsina Khayrova, and he’s said to be happy with her.

Tom Cruise was on a winning streak with Top Gun: Maverick becoming the biggest hit of his career. However, his latest Mission: Impossible film surprisingly failed at the box office, losing somewhere around $40 million for Paramount Pictures. Despite receiving critical acclaim, the high production budget and several other unfortunate factors contributed to the film’s box office disaster. Amidst the financial failure, one critical aspect of the film was overlooked – its real-world relevance.
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
The film impressed critics and fans as it raised the stakes even more by introducing the most powerful villain yet. Ethan Hunt and his team had to take down a non-tangible AI villain, The Entity, in the film and their mission will continue in the next Mission: Impossible film.

If Artificial Intelligence took the place of humans, how would the world change? Would we begin pleading with AI to save our lives? These are a few of the questions that viewers still have after seeing Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh installment in the spy action film series, which was released on July 12.
The Tom Cruise-starrer film was the first Mission: Impossible movie to receive an Academy Award nomination, and it also did pretty well at the box office. It also got points for portraying the possible risks of AI in a timely manner, which is causing serious concerns in the real world.
However, fans have not been shy about pointing out a fatal flaw that has left them baffled, maybe thinking twice. And yes, it is about Cruise’s battle against someone as ‘inevitable’ as AI.

Updated: Investors rallied behind Paramount Global’s stock after Byron Allen emerged as an unexpected bidder in the latest twist in the media company’s ongoing M&a drama.
Shares of Paramount Global rose more than 13% in early trading Wednesday on news that the media mogul’s Allen Media Group made an unsolicited $30 billion acquisition offer to acquire the entertainment conglomerate. The stock was trading in heavy volume at over $15/share — though still well under its 52-week high of $25.93. By the end of the session, amid declines across major market indexes, enthusiasm had cooled: Paramount closed up 6.7%, to $14.59.
Allen Media Group is offering $21.53 per share for all of Paramount Global’s Class B nonvoting stock — a 57% premium over the Jan. 30 closing price of $13.68 — and $28.58/share for the Class A voting stock, per Bloomberg, which first reported the proposal. Duncan Jones is back with a brand new project titled Rogue Trooper, an animated adaptation of the same-titled comic book from 2000 Ad.
Variety reports, “The animated film, which is being created with Epic’s 3D tool Unreal Engine 5, was adapted by Jones from the comic book published by 2000 Ad.
“Rogue Trooper, produced by Rebellion and Liberty Films, has wrapped principal photography at Rebellion Film Studios in the U.K. The film is set to be finished next year.”
“Rogue Trooper tells the story of 19, a “Genetic Infantryman,” who finds himself the sole-survivor of an invasion force. Desperate to track down the traitor who sold him and his comrades out, the super soldier is accompanied by three killed-in-action squad mates, whose personalities have been stored in his gun, helmet and rucksack.”
Aneurin Barnard, Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Daryl McCormack and Reece Shearsmith are attached to star, with Variety noting that Barnard will play the title character.

Hayley Atwell has reportedly joined the cast of director Duncan Jones’ animated Rogue Trooper movie, based on the 2000 Ad comic strip of the same name. It’s even wrapped filming!
Word that Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones was attached to a film adaptation of the 2000 Ad comic strip Rogue Trooper first broke over five years ago, before the world descended into a maelstrom of global disease, military invasions and AI-driven societal collapse – exactly the sort of dystopian stuff you might expect to find in those British sci-fi comics.
After years of eerie silence, though, it sounds as though the adaptation is much further along than we’d previously thought, with Variety reporting that Rogue Trooper has been cast and is already well into production. It’ll star Aneurin Barnard as the title’s genetically-enhanced super soldier. Supporting him will be Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden (who also appeared in...

Duncan Jones made an incredible debut with his Sam Rockwell-starring sci-fi, Moon. However, his follow-ups haven’t collected as much acclaim with the Groundhog Day-on-a-train thriller Source Code, his step into the big-budget franchise world with Warcraft, and his high-concept Netflix sci-fi, Mute. For years, Jones has been developing an adaptation of the comic Rogue Trooper, which is to be an animated feature. The production has been rolling along, and Variety has revealed the cast of actors that Jones has been able to compile for the film.

It turns out that Captain Carter changed a specific universe from What If…? Season 2 for the better in multiple ways, including bringing feminism to the forefront.
In Marvel’s animated series What If…?, there exists a multiversal Variant of Peggy Carter who received the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers.
This version of Peggy went on to become the superhero known as Captain Carter and helped turn the tide for the Allies in World War II before being flung into the 21st Century.

Marvel's "What If..." has employed a mix of reprisals and recasts from the movies. Captain Peggy Carter may have the super soldier serum, and Strange Supreme went down a darker path, but they're still played by Hayley Atwell and Benedict Cumberbatch like the originals. Tragically, T'Challa-as-Star-Lord also went down as Chadwick Boseman's final performance.
On the other hand: Mick Wingert fills in for Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Lake Bell plays Black Widow instead of Scarlett Johansson, and season 1 big bad Infinity Ultron was voiced by Ross Marquand, not James Spader.
"What If..." season 2 brings in two characters not seen in season 1, Hela (the villain of "Thor: Ragnarok") and Wenwu (the villain of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"), and pairs them up in episode 7: "What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings?" The episode splits the difference on recasting: Wenwu is voiced by Feodor Chin,...

When the seventh Mission: Impossible film arrives on Paramount+ next week, its title will appear different from what moviegoers saw on the big screen. The notoriously long-winded Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is now simply Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. The title adjustment is occurring despite the fact that this film ends on a cliffhanger. After nearly three hours of adventuring, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt must now find a sunken submarine without the aid of computers or A.I.-influenced technology—which is to say he’ll probably be using the old school maritime navigational method known as “dead reckoning.”
It’s an interesting pivot for the franchise, but an obviously useful one. Despite some critics, including our own Don Kaye, adoring Dead Reckoning this past summer, the allegedly penultimate film in the M:i franchise was a box office disappointment, grossing only $568 million globally, down 29 percent from 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout...

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to stream “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” when it arrives on Paramount+ very soon.
The seventh “Mission: Impossible” movie will be added to Paramount+ on Jan. 25 in the U.S. and Canada. It will arrive in additional international markets beginning in February.
Notably, the original title of the film was “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” but it is now simply called “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.” The slight name changes comes after the upcoming eighth movie, which was originally subtitled “Dead Reckoning Part Two,” was delayed over a year from June 28, 2024, to May 23, 2025, and it was announced it’d receive a new title.
The “Dead Reckoning” poster, featuring the faces of Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Pom Klementieff, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Esai Morales and Vanessa Kirby, also removed the “Part One” from its title.

The news of Tom Cruise setting a “strategic partnership” with Warner Bros. has certain “Top Gun” fans barrel-rolling out of control. Don’t panic, put on your oxygen mask before you attempt to help others — and definitely don’t jump without a chute, because a third “Top Gun” has been in development for a while now, a source told IndieWire.
“Top Gun: Maverick” screenwriter Ehren Kruger is working on the next film in the franchise, according to Puck News. The threequel-creating installment will reunite Cruise with his “Maverick” co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell. Producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison will be back, and “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski is also set to return — either as director (again), or at least to produce.
Paramount Pictures declined comment on this story; a spokesperson for “Top Gun” co-producer Skydance did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.

Patrick Stewart is speaking out against the rise of green screen acting, particularly within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “X-Men” alum, who reprised his iconic role of Professor X in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” said during a recent appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that it’s “been challenging” acting “alone” with a green screen.
“I think the big scene, each one of the leading actors had the same experience. They were shot on their own,” Stewart said of his cameo. “It was frustrating and disappointing, but that’s how it has been. The last few years have been challenging.”
During the “Doctor Strange” sequel, Stewart appears alongside in another multiverse realm as a still-alive Charles Xavier Aka Professor X, serving on the Illuminati counsel with Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), and Captain Britain (Hayley Atwell). Apparently, none of the actors were together for the scene.
