In the years I've been watching 24, I can't ever recall being treated to such a lean, mean dosage of engaging back-to-back hours as the grouping of episodes leading up to the series finale (which airs next Monday at 8 p.m.). Say what you will about this season—the Dana Walsh/Jenny Scott storyline is certainly one blemish keeping Day 8 from achieving top-tier status—but since Renee Walker's murder six weeks ago, something new and fresh has emerged. And not just in regards to 24. Simply put, these hours comprise what has to be the greatest, bloodiest tale of revenge ever...

Whew! For a two-hour episode, that went by pretty quickly. There was so much action my typing could barely keep up, and the show was well-paced and engaging. But of course, the stooge writers would never let us down. With the good also came the implausible, like President Taylor inviting the Hassan women into the situation room where they could watch CTU hunt down the terrorists. Never mind national security or the possibility of seeing your loved one getting hurt live, onscreen! Then there's Starbuck, whose moleyness was so obvious, she may as well have stood up on a table and screamed out, "It is me! I am The Mole!" And I continue to take exception to the idea that Hastings would allow Renee to be part of the mission, this dude is the worst CTU director in 24 history. (There's something likable about him though, right?) Nonetheless, I give the...

After the laughable return of "tough" Renee last week, parts of this week's episode felt very serious. But no worries, there are still plenty of moments to be mocked. First up is Renee. So, I get that she's supposed to be all bad-ass (in a 13 year old, black clothes wearing, listening to Avril I-have-no-clue-what-punk-rock-is Lavigne, kind of way). Honestly, Renee looks like she's about to burst into tears at any moment, having just discovered menstrual blood in her underwear for the first time. The only Russian she might be able to win a staring contest against is a Russian waiter at Epcot. Let's remember what Renee was like in Season 7, all by the book and buttoned-up priss-ery. And let's also remember that Renee's time undercover with the Russian mob would have been before Season 7 occurred. Knowing last season's Renee, I'm having a really difficult time believing she was previously hanging...

Having Jack Bauer back in our lives is like a warm glass of milk; a troubled, heroic, will-kill-you-with-an-axe warm glass of milk.
Sure, 24 has fallen off a bit in recent years, as there are only so many government moles, world domination plots and intense interrogation sessions to go around. Still, any long-time fan of the drama has to smile and subtly pump his/her fist at the countdown, the multiple on-screen boxes and all the familiar reminders that one of the best produced shows is back on TV.
This time, Jack is living in NYC, seemingly out of the CTU game. But it doesn't take long for him to get pulled back in, despite a promise to move to Los Angeles with Kim, little Terri and Paul Wesley (taking time away from battling...
