'Stranger Things' Star Hates "Gatekeeping" All of Season 5's Many Secrets
Image
There are a lot of things we don't know yet about the final season of Netflix's Stranger Things, including its premiere date, when a trailer might drop, and who will live and who will die. That information is (obviously) being kept very hush hush right now for good reasons, but if star Millie Bobby Brown had her way, she might just let a little something slip because, as she puts it, she hates "gatekeeping" all those secrets.

Speaking with Gamesradar about the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, Brown doubled down on the fact that it will be an "emotional" ending – something many of her cast mates have stated time and time again in various interviews. We get it, we're going to cry. Tears aside, though, the 21-year-old actress, who has been playing the role of Eleven since she was 12, said she's proud of the work everyone managed...

'I Will Forever Be Attached': Millie Bobby Brown Opens Up On Saying Farewell to Stranger Things
Image
Stranger Things is not only one of Netflix's most successful series ever, but it also put Millie Bobby Brown on the map in Hollywood. Having been on the series since her child acting days, Brown insists she'll "forever be attached" to the show as she bids an "emotional" farewell to the critically acclaimed show.

Speaking with GamesRadar+, Brown expressed her feelings about Stranger Things, having been a mainstay on the beloved sci-fi horror drama series since its inception in 2016. The English actor admitted moving on from the show would be hard once its fifth and final season ends. However, she is grateful to showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer for their faith in her and has nothing but good thoughts as Stranger Things nears its conclusion. "I will forever be attached to that show, and I'm proud of it. It's a lot of hard work that everyone's put into it.

'I See It When It Comes Out': Even Millie Bobby Brown Isn't Allowed to Watch Stranger Things Episodes Early
Image
Netflix has such a strong grip on Stranger Things that its actors don't get to watch episodes before the public does. With anticipation ramping up ahead of the record-breaking series' fifth and final season, star Millie Bobby Brown reveals she'll have to wait as long as the fans to see the last batch of Stranger Things episodes.

Speaking with Variety at the premiere of her latest film, The Electric State, Brown revealed she and her castmates had never seen Stranger Things episodes before they were released and likely won't get to do so with Season 5. “We haven’t done that for 10 years. I don’t think they’re going to start on the last season,” she said. “I see it when it comes out, just like everyone else does.”

Jamie Campbell Bower Done Playing Villains After 'Stranger Things' Season 5
Image
Jamie Campbell Bower, the actor who gives life to Vecna, a.k.a. Henry Creel, in Stranger Things, says he wants a break from playing villains. Vecna is likely the most memorable antagonist of the Netflix fantasy horror show, but Bower believes that he's done with it after the show ends with Season 5: "It f*cks me up."

During his 2025 Orlando MegaCon panel (via People), Bower revealed that, even though he's not worried about being typecast as a villain, he feels a bit tired of it. The actor shared that he even spoke to his therapist about this, and he’s "dead serious" about playing characters of a different nature in the future:

"We were going through some stuff, and he was like, 'We really need to make sure that you carve out time for you whenever you're working next.' I turned around to him, and I was like,...

'I Don't Have Many Friends': Millie Bobby Brown Details How Stranger Things Affected Her Childhood
Image
The sci-fi TV series Stranger Thingspremiered in 2016, and a big part of its ensemble cast consisted of young children. They all grew up in front of the cameras, and, while that came with a lot of fame and potential projects, it also had some downsides.

However, by the time production wrapped on the upcoming sixth and final season in December, she was 20 and already married. Speaking to Vanity Fair for the cover story, Brown highlighted the impact the series had on her social life when growing up.

'Stranger Things' Creators Compare New Netflix Series 'The Boroughs' to Ron Howard '80s Classic
Image
During an appearance at Scad TVFest, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of Netflix's Stranger Things, revealed that their new show The Boroughs shares "a lot of DNA" with the juggernaut series, as well as a beloved but hard-to-find 1980s sci-fi classic.

Per Collider, the Duffer brothers revealed information about the upcoming series, which is set in a New Mexico retirement community and follows a group of misfits who discover a sinister supernatural force threatening their lives. If that premise sounds similar to the 1985 Ron Howard film Cocoon, that's not an accident, though the concepts are ultimately very different.

Ross Duffer explained that The Boroughs is based on an idea from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who will serve as showrunners while the Duffers produce:

"So we've got one called 'The Boroughs...' It has a lot of DNA of 'Stranger Things,...

'Stranger Things' Creators Explain How Finale Is Cinematic In Scope
Image
Stranger Things showrunners the Duffer brothers have decided to explain what they meant when they referred to Season 5 of the show as "eight blockbuster movies" a few days ago. Even though it probably has to do with the amount of footage that they actually shot, and the running time of each episode, the truth is they were also referring to their style of writing, and mixing good character development with massive set pieces that include "huge cinematic special effects."

Per the report by Cinema Blend, the siblings behind the Netflix fantasy horror juggernaut received the Variety Showrunner Award at the Scad TVfest. Matt Duffer used the opportunity to shed some light on the claims they made during the latest Netflix event (this was the streamer's event where Stranger Things was mysteriously absent from the 2025 slate presentation). This is what he had to say about the episodes resembling "blockbuster movies":...

Netflix's 'Stranger Things' Season 5 Still Eyeing 2025 Release Window

Stranger Things fans, we have some positive news. According to the Duffer Brothers, they're "ahead of schedule" in the post-production process of Season 5, and they have confirmed that the final season will be released in 2025. The exact date of release is yet to be determined, but this update from the showrunners clears all the doubts fans had after the show was strangely absent from Netflix's 2025 slate presentation.

A few days ago, the siblings behind the Netflix fantasy horror show said that they were not sure whether they could finish the show in time for a 2025 release: "A lot of it hasn't been decided, in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence… I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push."

However, Collider is reporting that Matt and Ross Duffer have confirmed the show will return this year.

Sadie Sink joined Netflix's cultural behemoth Stranger Things in its second season as Max Mayfield, quickly becoming a fan-favorite character. Watching her slowly warm up to Eleven and develop a quietly delightful friendship with her was one of the delights of season three, and seeing Max sacrifice herself as bait for Vecna at the end of Season 4 was its emotional peak. While Eleven tries to restore her, she finds that Max's mind is a dark void,...

The most popular moment in season 4 of the Netflix series Stranger Things came when the character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) played guitar along to the Metallica song “Master of Puppets” while facing off with the forces of evil in the Upside Down. And during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained the decision to let the show use the song, and discussed what it was like to see the renewed interest in “Master of Puppets” thirty-six years after the song was first released.

Speaking with Stern, Ulrich said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “It used to be, with Metallica, we were always the ‘no’ guys. … A few years ago, we reversed it, we did a 180. We just said, ‘You know what? This is stupid. Why are we hanging onto these [songs] like they’re so important, like they’re the crown jewels? Let...

Why Sadie Sink Should Be Running Up That Hill to an Emmy Nomination for ‘Stranger Things’
Image
All it took was a Kate Bush track and the reading of a letter to clue the world into the greatness of Sadie Sink, who plays tomboy Max Mayfield in the fourth season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” Her outstanding work in this season of the hit fantasy show has captured the cultural zeitgeist. With phase one voting merely two weeks away, she may have put herself in firm contention to nab her first Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.

The 20-year-old sensation had the most significant arc of any character in the seven-episode season. The story finds Maxine in a very dark place following the death of her stepbrother Billy (Dacre Montgomery), where the trauma of the events has taken its toll on Max. Sink’s anguish and technical skill are displayed beautifully throughout each episode. Still, it’s the stellar monologue delivered at Billy...

“Stranger Things” fans will get a deeper look into both Eleven’s mother and Dr. Brenner in the show’s official prequel novel “Suspicious Minds.”

The book reveals how Terry Ives–whom fans of the show will remember for her iconic “Breathe. Sunflower. Rainbow” moment–first came into contact with Brenner as part of the secretive Mkultra project.

The book is written by Gwenda Bond, who also worked closely with “Stranger Things” staff writer Paul Dichter on the book. It will be released by Del Rey Books, an imprint of Random House, a division of Penguin Random House, on Feb. 5

In the excerpt below, Ives meets Dr. Brenner for the first time.

“Sit,” the man said, waving his hand to the exam table. He had a tone of authority, like he was used to giving commands.

Terry hesitated, then perched on the edge of the table. Her feet dangled, a...

2018 Writers Guild Awards winners: ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and ‘Get Out’ win on way to Oscars
Martin McDonagh at an event for In Bruges (2008)
Winners of the 2018 Writers Guild of America Awards were revealed on Feb. 11 in ceremonies held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York. As only screenplays written under the guild’s guidelines or those of several international partners are eligible for consideration, these kudos, which are celebrating their 70th anniversary, have not been the most reliable barometer of the Oscars.

Indeed, one of this year’s leading contenders for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars — Martin McDonagh for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” — was ruled out of the running by the guild. However, that WGA race does include four of the other Academy Awards nominees — “The Big Sick,” “Get Out,” “Lady Bird” and “The Shape of Water.” It is rounded out by “I, Tonya.” Jordan Peele won for “Get Out” edging out Greta Gerwig, who had been predicted to win for “Lady Bird.”

All five of the Oscar contenders for Best...

2018 Writers Guild Awards: Full list of nominations in 3 film and 14 TV categories
The 2018 Writers Guild of America Awards take place on Feb. 11 with simultaneous ceremonies held in both New York and Los Angeles. Only scripts written under the guild’s guidelines or those of several international partners are allowed to vie for these awards. As such, these kudos are not the most reliable barometer of the Oscars.

In the past nine years only 59 of the WGA nominees have numbered among the 90 screenplays that reaped Academy Awards bids. Indeed, 2014’s Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay, “Birdman,” was deemed ineligible. Likewise for one of this year’s leading contenders for that award: “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

On the television side, the leading nominees are “Better Call Saul,” which competes for best drama series writing as well as for two individual episodes and “The Americans,” which is up for both overall drama series writing and an individual episode. Over in comedy, reigning Emmy...
