This week’s Arrow was greater than the sum of its parts, since the timing of Ray’s hospitalization kept Felicity on an “island” while a citywide manhunt was underway for the Arrow — and then Oliver himself.

Peter Capaldi's first Christmas special in the Doctor Who lead role came laden with tangerines. But was it any good?
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
Last Christmas
"A skeleton man, and a girl in her nightie"
It's one heck of a gamble to go for an hour long Doctor Who Christmas special, where all but a few minutes at the end turn out to be a dream. Yet that's just what Steven Moffat pulled off with his far improved Yuletide episode, Last Christmas.
As he confirmed at the Q&A after the press screening, everything you see in the episode, from the first scene onwards, is strictly a dream, up until the finale, and the placing of Last Christmas' final tangerine. A poignant tangerine, that also seems to suggest that Santa is real. That's a mystery solved, then.

Plot:
Just as everything is beginning to look up for Team Arrow, with Starling City proclaiming the Vigilante as their savoir and all. A new Count Vertigo appears on the scene and Oliver has to deal with his feelings for Felicity, and he faces losing Queen Consolidated to new arrival Ray Palmer.
Verdict:
After dealing with Slade and his army of Mirakuru infused soldiers last season, you would not blame the show to take it a breather with the episode that followed, hence the title ‘The Calm’.
And things do appear to be going well for Oliver and company, what with him and Roy (just start calling him Arsenal or Red-Arrow, so we can finally start calling Oliver – Green-Arrow already) cleaning up the streets and sending the criminals running for their lives, while Diggle...

I'm not sure I understand everything in that panel for "The Originals," but I live-blogged it anyway. I definitely understood the "H20" question for Phoebe Tonkin. But anywho... When last we left Oliver Queen and "Arrow," the Flashback Oliver had awakened in Hong Kong, Slade was in a SuperMax prison after Felicity and Oliver flirted their way into stopping him and Thea was leaving town. Let's see what Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and the "Arrow" cast have to say about what's in store for Season 3... Click through for all of the Ballroom 20 excitement... 5:36 p.m. We're promised we're going to leave her more informed and more excited than we were before. 5:38 p.m. Woo. Season 3 sneak peak. Boom. Boom. Boom. This is all from last year so far. Deathstroke. Poor Moira. Etc. "A man cannot live by too names," Oliver is being told by somebody in Hong Kong.

Girls, “Two Plane Rides”
Written by Lena Dunham

Do you remember how last season’s Girls run ended? Well this season things culminated in an entirely different tone. This time, there were no grand gestures or fireworks. Season three isn’t quite as dark as season two, but man is the finale rough. If the season two finale frustrated fans because it suggested that Hannah might be too dependent on the man in her life, the season three finale seems intent on underlining that Hannah’s ready to move on, with or without Adam. And she isn’t the only one moving on, but she seems to be the only one moving in the right direction: Hannah gets into the country’s best grad school, Adam gives a truly “bad” performance in his Broadway debut, Marnie finds herself in another destructive relationship, Shosh...

"30 Days of Night" and "Hard Candy" director David Slade has earned small screen cred having directed five episodes (including the pilot) and served as executive producer on the first two seasons of NBC's acclaimed and gruesome "Hannibal."
His dark yet visually stunning style is now about to set the stage for another high-profile small screen project - the TV series adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' acclaimed graphic novel series "Powers".
Slade will direct the first two episodes of the "Powers" series and will serve as executive producer on them alongside their writer Charlie Huston. The series is set to premiere exclusively on Sony's Playstation network in December.
Blending superheroes, crime noir and cop drama, the story is set in a world full of people with superhuman abilities. Rather than focusing on them, we follow two homicide detectives assigned to protect humans like us and investigate cases involving people with said abilities.

Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl star in Ron Howard's film about the epic rivalry between F1 greats James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The film about one of sport's most exhilarating stories - available to watch online now without a subscription via blinkbox - is a tale of sex, fights and a race to be world number one.
Here are five reasons to head back to 1976 and watch Rush right now.
1. A must for all sports fans
Even if you aren't much of a Formula 1 buff, this is a story that transcends sport and is almost too far-fetched to believe at times, but it happened. Like a marathon tennis match, the 1976 F1 championship came down to two geniuses head-to-head, and went to the wire, both on and off the track.

The producers and cast of The CW’s Arrow held court at PaleyFest 2013 on Saturday night to reflect on the freshman hit’s recent reveals as well as tease what’s to come in the final third of the season.
For starters, Tommy now knowing his Bff’s vigiliante secret “changes everything,” series lead Stephen Amell told moderator/DC Comics god Geoff Johns. “He saw me in the pilot kill three guys. And Tommy’s a good guy, he doesn’t want to have to reconcile that his friend would do that.” Plus, having Tommy in the know creates too...

"Dead to Rights" had a bit of everything for Arrow fans.
There was a nice dose of Slade on the island, a generous helping of father/son angst with Tommy and Malcolm and sneaky hints at the proposal of a Canary sighting coming to Starling City. What else? Let's check it out...
Alright. I've had it. I'm done with Detective Lance. Absolutely finished. The Hood called him to tell him there was a hitman out to kill someone high profile the next day, requested his men put someone on it and his answer was to enlist McKenna to aid him in taking down the vigilante?!?
At that moment my wish was for the blind dude hired by China White and his refreshed eyes (an assumption) to shoot at Malcolm and take down Det. Lance. Just kill him already. He is not worth my time. I had to get that out.

Since its premiere episode back in October, The CW's "Arrow" has done a bang up job of turning Oliver Queen into a household name. With its ever escalating suspense and a plethora of dynamic characters, there's no question that Starling City's finest is here to stay — especially given the network's recent announcement that "Arrow" has officially been renewed for a second season, scheduled to debut fall of 2013!
So far this season, we've been witness to a number of intricate plot twists and special DC character cameos. But with the CW's recent renewal of the series, we can't help but wonder what the second season of "Arrow" has in store for us.

The Fray's new song "Heartbeat" seems to be about reviving a broken relationship, with lyrics like "I wanna kiss your scars tonight, and baby, you gotta try, you gotta let me in."
But the inspiration for the rock tune has little to do with a failed romance. Instead, it comes from one of the worst tragedies in recent memory – the genocide in Rwanda nearly two decades ago.
Lead singer and writer Isaac Slade was visiting the Rwandan capital of Kigali last year when he found himself standing on the site where more than 250,000 victims of the country's 1994 genocide were buried. Then he had an epiphany.
"(I was) at this gathering with a bunch of local (people) and ex-pats, all standing in circle holding hands, just kind of thinking and talking about Rwanda. This chick was standing next to me and I couldn't tell if it was her heartbeat or mine,...

The Xbox 360's motion control system previously known as Project Natal received its proper name "Kinect" at E3 on Sunday night. Both James Gunn and Felicia Day were on the front lines getting a look at Microsoft's presentation there and tweeted their reactions.
Back in movie land, "Eclipse" is the big presetation that Twilight followers are paying attention to right now. The increase in the cast's tweeting activity over the last week seems to indicate that they know they're being watched. Peter Facinelli and director David Slade were even kind enough to share some pictures from their travels. You can have a look at those after the jump. There, you'll also find out who's been hanging out with Coheed and Cambria and see who wore a triceratops dress to the "Toy Story 3" premiere.
It's all documented in Twitter-Wood for June 14, 2010.
