Ask any millennial if they remember Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow, and their reply will probably be:
“Bogieeeessss!”
Once they’ve stopped gleefully screaming the show’s catchphrase, they’ll tell you it was a weekend kids’ TV programme on the BBC presented by Richard ‘Dick’ McCourt and Dominic Wood – aka comedy duo Dick and Dom – and it was also pure, unadulterated, I’m-writing-to-Ofcom chaos.
Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow – whose name was a parody of the Sacha Baron Cohen film Ali G InDaHouse – aired between 2002 and 2006. It became a cult hit with kids and students alike, thanks to its puerile humour, its complete absurdity (once a cat randomly appeared and sang a song about Stoke-on-Trent) and the fact that Dick and Dom seemed to be having the absolute time of their lives making total havoc on live TV.
Was there any kind of format to this live mayhem?...

The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. Seeking her third victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).
Unlike the live action and fictional program nominees, which are chosen by all 20,000 plus academy members, the Best Character Voice-Over contenders are picked only by voters...

Anneka Rice has poked fun at Channel 5‘s decision to axe Challege Anneka after just two episodes.
It was revealed on Tuesday (28 March) that the reboot of the show, which first aired in 1989, had been pulled from programming schedules.
The move comes after episode two, which was broadcast on Saturday (25 March), attracted less than one million viewers.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 said: “The first episode of Challenge Anneka was enjoyed by 1.25 million viewers, but Saturday evenings are always highly competitive, especially at this time of year.
“The public and critical reaction to Challenge Anneka’s return has been amazing and we have decided to preserve the remaining two shows and reschedule them soon.”
Following this, Rice shared her “thanks” to viewers who had tuned in, explaining: “We always knew we were on a ‘floating schedule’ so might be bumped off at any moment. We’ll keep you posted.

The following post contains spoilers for "Andor."
"Andor" has completed the first of two seasons in the story leading up to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," and we've added some great new characters to a galaxy far, far away. Since this is "Star Wars" we're talking about, it only makes sense that one of the very best of them is a droid. It was easy to fall in love with the boxy B2EMO, the companion to Maarva (Fiona Shaw), Cassian's (Diego Luna) adoptive mother. He is a bit grumpy here and there, and he's not so good at lying, but mostly, he's just watching out for the friend he loves and is protective of her after so many years together. Droids may have a shelf life, but if they stay in good condition, they'll sadly outlive many of their human buddies.

This Star Wars: Andor article contains spoilers.
In the first three episodes of Star Wars: Andor, we get a glimpse at Cassian’s (Diego Luna) life as a child on the Mid-Rim planet Kenari and how he came to know Maarva (Fiona Shaw), a mother-figure in his life whom he lives with on Ferrix. Through flashbacks we see that they met in the wreckage of a ship that crashed on Kenari when Cassian, or Kassa (Antonio Viña) as he’s known by his people, was a young boy.
Kassa goes with his friends to investigate the crash, but after one of them dies at the hands of an injured officer, he stays behind. Kassa explores the ship, growing more angry as he goes on. He eventually stops in the bridge to take out his anger on the control panels, doing his best to smash the consoles to pieces. Maarva, her...

This Star Wars: Andor article contains spoilers.
Star Wars: Andor opens up a whole new corner of the galaxy far, far away, one where workers clock in to their jobs at the scrapyard and corporate bureaucracy rules entire sectors of space. It’s here where Cassian is poised to introduce a bit of chaos, as he goes from common crook to the Rebel secret agent we’ve already met in Rogue One. While the first three episodes of the show focus on who Cassian was before there even was a Rebel Alliance to join, they also introduce plenty of other characters, planets, and factions who play a role in the Galactic Civil War to come.
As you might expect, like all other Star Wars shows on Disney+, Andor is full of easter eggs and callbacks to other parts of the universe. Here’s what we’ve found so far…

The origin of Rebel Alliance intelligence officer Cassian Andor and what drew him into the good fight is at the fore of Disney+’s latest live-action Star Wars series, which is a slow-burn espionage tale worth sticking with.

“Andor” is, both by design and circumstance, immediately different from its “Star Wars” television predecessors. Where “The Mandalorian,” “Boba Fett,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” wove their biggest reveals into the larger fabric of the Lucasfilm universe, “Andor” doesn’t rush toward those moments that might make fans gasp out of pure recognition. Instead, it does something more surprising still: it tells the story of people who have nothing to do with Solos, Skywalkers or Palpatines, but whose lives matter nonetheless.
Of course, at least part of the reason the series can take its time this way is because haunted hustler Cassian Andor isn’t a brand-new character at all. As the reluctant hero of 2016’s “Rogue One,” which portrayed the rebel pilot mission to steal the Death Star plans which drive “A New Hope,” Cassian’s “Star Wars” legacy is already written. We already know Cassian’s life will eventually intersect...

"The world is out of whack." Magnolia Pictures has released an official US trailer for the absurdist comedy Mandibules, the latest from wacky French musician / filmmaker Quentin Dupieux. This also goes under the English title Mandibles, but I prefer the original French spelling more. This originally premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year to mostly rave reviews (here's mine) and it deserves to be the sleeper hit of the summer in the US this year. Two simple-minded friends discover a giant fly in the trunk of a car and decide to domesticate it to earn money with it. But it's about much more than just that. Definitely a kooky Dupieux concept and it's hilarious. One of my favorite films he's made so far. Starring Adèle Exarchopoulos, Grégoire Ludig, Bruno Lochet, Coralie Russier, India Hair, David Marsais, with Dave Chapman as "La Mouche" (aka The Fly). It's best to see...

"Never saw them, never met them." Memento Films in France has revealed the first full festival trailer for the film Mandibules, the latest from wacky French musician / filmmaker Quentin Dupieux. This just premiered at the Venice Film Festival last weekend to mostly rave reviews (here's mine) and it's going to hit the Sitges Film Festival next this fall. Between the tail end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, moviegoers had a high tolerance for pairs of male friends with more breezy optimism than brains. These dopey man-children included Wayne and Garth in “Wayne’s World”, Lloyd and Harry in “Dumb and Dumber”, and two happy-go-lucky doofuses called Bill and Ted, Jules and Vincent in “Pulp Fiction” (a more dangerous species of this genus), and “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” as the female alternative. The idiots played by Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott in “Dude, Where’s My Car?” killed off the trend in 2000 — temporarily, at least.
Now two such dumb chums return in a meandering and often hilarious lowlife comedy written, directed, shot, and edited by Quentin Dupieux, who made last year’s “Deerskin” with Jean Dujardin. . It lasts just 77 minutes, as “Deerskin” did, and one of its central characters is a horsefly the size of a Yorkshire Terrier.

Hi, fly. Memento Films in France has unveiled a short 15-second teaser trailer for the film Mandibules, the latest from wacky French musician / filmmaker Quentin Dupieux. The pandemic hasn't stopped him from working! Mandibules was also announced as part of the line-up for the 2020 Venice Film Festival, kicking off in September. So what the heck is this film about? Two simple-minded friends discover a giant fly in the trunk of a car and decide to domesticate it to earn money with it. Of course. Definitely a Dupieux concept. The film stars Adèle Exarchopoulos, Grégoire Ludig, Bruno Lochet, Coralie Russier, India Hair, David Marsais, with Dave Chapman as "La Mouche" (aka The Fly). There isn't really much to this teaser trailer except a quick shot of the giant fly drinking water from a pool, but still, you've gotta see this trailer with a giant fly drinking water from a pool! Because who knows what happens next.

2019 is set to be the biggest year ever for the Star Wars franchise, which makes the next edition of Star Wars Celebration a pretty big deal in its own right. And to get fans hyped for the April event, the festival has now released a vibrant new poster that manages to pack a whole lot of history into a single image, putting several generations of heroes on the left while the various major villains sit on the right.
Moreover, the festival is said offer a generous array of guests, including Celebration newcomer Joonas Suotamo, known for playing Chewbacca in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Also attending will be Sam Witwer, who’s provided the voice of Maul in various animated projects, as well as last year’s Solo in a surprise last-minute cameo.

So, first of all, Brian Henson was in the room. This was very exciting. I mean, he's Brian Henson. The guy Exec-Produced Farscape.
